This study attempts to examine the economic impacts of electricity industry in Korea and Japan using an inter-industry analysis. Specifically, the study analyzes and compares electricity industry between Japan and Korea through production-inducing effect and value added inducing effect of electricity industry based on demand-driven model. Moreover, this study deals with supply shortage effect and sectoral price effect by using supply-driven model and Leontief price model, respectively. This study analyses the electricity industry through exogenous approach. The results show that electricity industry induces prodution-inducing effect of 0.5946 won in other industries in Korea and 0.5446 yen in other industries in Japan. Value-added-inducing effects are 0.1716 won in other in other industries in Korea and 0.2929 yen in other industries in Japan. Supply shortage effects of electricity industry are 1.5932 won in other industries in Korea and 1.2801 yen in other industries in Japan. And sectoral price effects are 0.2113% in Korea and 0.2196% in Japan due to the price increase of 10% of electricity industry.

광역상수도는 지난 40년 동안 우리나라의 경제성장에 지대한 역할을 수행하여 왔을 뿐만 아니라 안정적이고 깨끗한 물을 공급함으로써 국민복지에도 많은 기여를 하여 왔다. 그러나 광역상수도가 국민경제에 미치는 효과에 대한 계량적인 연구가 부족하여 광역상수도의 중요성이 상대적으로 소홀하게 여겨지고 있는 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 광역상수도 사업의 파급효과를 분석하기 위해 산업과 산업간의 상관관계를 계량적으로 파악할 수 있는 분석인 산업연관분석을 수행하였다. 일반적으로 산업연관분석은 특정 시점에서의 국민경제를 반영하기 때문에 시계열적으로 분석하기가 매우 힘들다. 그러나 최근 한국은행에서는 2005년 이후 2009년까지의 각 년도별 산업연관표를 발표하고 있어 시계열적으로 광역상수도사업의 파급효과를 분석할 수 있게 되었다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 기존의 수요유도형 모형뿐만 아니라 공급유도형 모형을 적용하여 2005년부터 2009년까지 산업연관분석을 수행하여 광역상수도사업의 파급효과 추이를 살펴봄으로써 광역상수도의 높은 경제적 타당성 및 국민경제적 파급효과를 검증하였다.

The government is planning to expand the bio-gas supply as a method for mitigating greenhouse gas emissions to deal with climate change. By means of a policy instrument, the government is considering an introduction of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) whose targets include bio-gas. This paper attempts to look into the economic effects of expanding the bio-gas supply by applying an input-output (I-O) analysis using a 2011 I-O table. The bio-gas supply sector consists of liquefied petroleum gas supply sector and city gas supply sector, based on the tenets of introducing the RFS. The production-inducing effect, value-added creation effect, and employment-inducing effect of the bio-gas sector are analyzed. The supply shortage effect and the price pervasive effect are also investigated. The results show that the production or investment of 1.0 won in the bio-gas supply sector induces the production of 1.0539 won and the value-added of 0.1998 won in the national economy. Moreover, the production or investment of 1.0 billion won, supply shortage of 1.0 won, and a price increase of 10.0% in the bio-gas supply sector touch off the employment of 0.5279 person, 1.6229 won, and an increase in overall price level by 0.0183%, respectively.

Korean government has initiated integrated-energy business (IEB) in Mokdong for energy conservation in 1983. Since then, IEB has been steadily expanding. This paper attempts to apply input-output(I-O) analysis to examine the economic effects of IEB. A static I-O framework is employed, focusing on three topics in its application: the impact of the investment of IEB on the production of other sectors and the inter-industry linkage effect; supply shortage effects of the IEB ; and the impact of the rise in IEB rate on prices of other products. The paper pays closer attention to IEB sector by taking the sector as exogenous and then investigating its economic impacts. The results can be widely utilized in decision-making about IEB policy.

The media industry is becoming more important around the world and there are changes over this industry. Therefore this is the time that the economic impacts is needed about media industry. This study attempts to examine the economic impacts of the media industry using an inter-industry analysis. Specifically, the study investigates production-inducing effect, value added inducing effect and employ-inducing effect of the media industry based on demand-driven model and the study deals with supply shortage effect and sectoral price effect of the media industry by using supply-driven model and Leontief price model. The results of this analyses are presented; 0.5461 won in production-inducing effect, 0.3143 won in value added inducing effect when 1 won is produced by media industry, 5.0459 persons in employ-inducing effect when 1 billion won is produced, 1 won of supply shortage in this industry results 0.7353 won in supply shortage effect which affect the other industries. Sectoral price effect is 0.2389% due to the 10% increase of price.

Korea is the 5th country of steel producing in the world and the attention in the steel industry is growing. The steel industry is one of the key industry in leading the economic growth in Korea. This study attempts to analyze by time-series the economic impacts of the steel industry using an inter-industry analysis Specifically, the study investigates production-inducing effect, value added inducing effect and employ-inducing effect of the steel industry based on demand-driven model and the study deals with supply shortage effect and sectoral price effect of the steel industry by using supply-driven model and Leontief price model.

The digital culture contents is one of the fastest growing industry in Korea and it accounts for 60% of the digital contents industry. This paper attempts to analyze economic impacts of the digital culture contents industry using input-output analysis. This study investigated the production-inducing effect, value-added-inducing effect and employment-inducing effect of the digital culture contents industry based on a demand-driven model. In addition, the study dealt with the supply shortage effect and sectoral price effect of the digital culture contents industry using a supply-driven model and the Leontief price model, including the inter-industry linkage effects of 29 sectors with the digital culture contents industry sector. Some interesting findings were drawn from the study. First, production of 1.0 won in the digital culture contents industry results in production-inducing effect of 2.39542 won, value-added effect of 1.29895 won and employment-inducing effect of 0.39657 persons in other industries. Second, the supply shortage of 1.0 won in the digital culture contents industry prevents other industries from producing 0.56631 won. Third, a 1% increase in the price level of the digital culture contents industry raises the overall price level by 0.06017%. Finally, very high backward linkage effects were found, but forward linkage effects were minimal.

1997년 이후 한국의 영화산업은 비약적인 성장을 하고 있으며, 고부가가치산업인 문화산업의 한 범주에 속해있다. 문화산업의 발전과 함께 영화산업도 함께 발전하고 있다. 영화산업은 크게 영화상영과 영화제작 및 배급으로 나뉠 수가 있는데, 영화제작은 수많은 재화와 서비스가 연쇄적으로 필요한 부분이며, 이를 포함하고 있는 영화산업은 여러산업과 직?간접적으로 밀접한 연관관계를 맺고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 국민경제적 파급효과를 분석하여 보고자 한다. 분석방법으로는 외행화기법을 이용하여 수요유도형 모형, 공급유도형 모형, 레온티에프 가격모형을 이용할 것이다.

Consulting industry is a knowledge intensive business service industry to lead to knowledge creation as well as support high value creation of other industries. While the consulting industry has a great ripple effect on whole industries, there is a lack of interest in the consulting industry. Thus, this study investigates a ripple effect of the consulting service on the national economy using an Input-Output analysis. We summarize some of our findings as follows. First, A production of 1.0 won in the business consulting industry induces production of 0.6933 won in 2005 and 0.7851 in 2009; value-added of 0.2881 won in 2005 and 0.3039 won in 2009. A production of 1.0 billion won in the business consulting industry Industry produces employment for 0.1124 persons in 2005 and 0.1207 persons in 2009. Second, the supply shortage of 1.0 won in the business consulting industry prevents other industries from producing 2.6759 won in 2005 and 3.0145 won in 2009. Third, a 10% increase in the price level of the business consulting industry raises the overall price level from 0.1691% in 2005 to 0.2161% in 2009. The research results show that consulting industry has been increasing a effect on Korea national economy.

In order to set public policy to overcome 'water crises' on both quantity and quality of water, we looked into the national-economic role of Korea water utility by two approaches. First, we examined the relationship between water consumption and economic growth during 1978-94, a period of rapid increase in water consumption caused by prompt industrialization and urbanization. The price and income elasticities of aggregate and sectoral demand for water were estimated. Second, we developed a static input-output(I-O) framework for analysing water issues in the short run. In addition, we discussed two topics in its application: i) sectoral failure(shortage) costs by supply-driven I-O model, ii) Leontief price model's sectoral pervasive effects of price due to rise in water rate. In conclusion, we found that investments to water sector and water shortage has a big influence on the standard of living and industrial production. Also we found that raising water rate to encourage conservation or to create investment funds decreases demand for water significantly but has a small influence on overall price levels.
