타워식 자동 공구 교환장치의 개발에 관한 연구 (A study on the Development of Tower Type Automatic Tool Changer)

  • This study is concerned about the development of tower type automatic tool changer. The tower type automatic tool changer is developed to reduce stand-by time by shortening tool change time. The developed system can store more number of tools in small space. A structural analysis for the machine is carried out to check the machine design using commercial software, CATIA V5. In the result of structural analysis, the safety of the developed system is confirmed.

  • This study is concerned about the design and structural analysis of high integrated tool tower ATC(Automatic Tool Changer) for machine tool. Recently, many studies have been undergoing to reduce a working time in a field of machine tool. Tool tower ATC belongs to reduce a stand-by time by shortening a tool exchanging time. The developed system can store more number of tool in small space than other machine. The analysis is carried out by CATIA V5 software. In the result of structural analysis, the safety factor of the developed system is confirmed.

  • We use a compound-cam twin arm structure and random tool access method to achieve a faster ATC (Automatic Tool Changer) system for the accurate position and rotation control of a tool magazine and an exchange am. Based on the data obtained from various sensors, it is possible to follow the sequence of commands in each control step for an exchange arm. However, it is not so easy to reduce the exchange time of the system because of the slow responses of the sensors and execution mode delays of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) scan time. In this paper, we propose a new programmed limit-switch position control method to obtain the shortest possible delays for the random tool access method and compound-cam twin arm structure. With some experimental results, we have achieved below 0.9sec tool exchange time with the proposed method.
