Effect of Strength-based Art Coaching Programs on Psychosocial Maturity of Slow Learners (강점기반 미술치료 코칭 프로그램이 느린학습자의 심리·사회성숙도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effectiveness of developing and applying a strength-based art coaching program to improve psychological and social maturity for slow learners attending elementary school. To this end, 32 slow elementary school learners living in the Seoul area were selected to form 16 experimental groups and 16 control groups. A total of 10 session of strength-based art coaching programs were conducted once a week for 60 minutes for 16 experimental groups. The main contents of the program consisted of recognizing positive psychological strengths and utilizing strengths in daily life, recognizing and empathizing with my emotions and other people's feelings, and learning and expressing specific ways of expressing my thoughts. To verify the effectiveness of the program, psychological and social maturity tests (emotional stability, social competence, communication skills, school life adaptation, interpersonal friendliness) were conducted in advance, post, 4 weeks later, and 2 weeks later. The implications of the study through the results of this study, limitations of the study, and suggestions for future research were discussed.

The Recognition and Needs of Elementary School Teachers about STEAM Education (STEAM 교육에 대한 초등교사의 인식과 요구)

  • The purpose of this study was to survey and analyze the recognition and needs of elementary school teachers about STEAM education. Mail and E-mail surveys were conducted for 533 elementary school teachers for the purpose of the study. The following were found results of the study were as follow: First, although elementary school teachers understood positively the necessity of STEAM education, showed average levels of recognition on STEAM education. Second, the rate of the elementary school teachers who had experience in applying STEAM education was low. Third, elementary school teachers required to education closely related to real life, and interesting education according to the direction for STEAM education. Fourth, elementary school teachers asked for the integration centering activities related real life, followed by the integration focusing on thema related to real life, the integrating centering student's needs and interests, and the integration focusing on issues according to the appropriate integration methods for STEAM education. Fifth, elementary school teachers required creative design/problem solving ability, academic performance ability, and interpersonal relationship skills with regard to the ability to develop through STEAM education. Lastly, elementary school teachers demanded the development and distribution of STEAM education, teacher's recognition and attitudes towards STEAM education, teacher's training for STEAM education, the distribution of reference materials and etc in order to stimulate STEAM education.

A Case Study on Application of the NABI Program to Realize the 'Practice Centered Mechanism of Manifesting Character' ('실천 중심 인성 발현 메커니즘' 구현을 위한 NABI 프로그램의 적용 사례)

  • Today, in accordance with emphasizing the importance of character education, science educators have tried to implement character education in the field of science education. Therefore, this research aims to confirm the possibility of the realization of 'Practice Centered Mechanism of Manifesting Character' developed on the basis of character education theory through the application of the NABI Program based on Nature-Study. For this, the NABI program was applied to 24 3rd grade students of an elementary school for a period of ten months. Qualitative data was collected like students' reports, journals, and video recording of the classes. This data was classified into 'value, judgment, action,' the steps of 'Practice Centered Mechanism of Manifesting Character,' and text was written by interpreting the data. The research resulted in the following: First, students formed 'value' by making a connection with the objects. And the various values - individual, interpersonal, social, ecological, and spiritual - are formed according to the type of objects with which the students felt a connection to. Second, students need to judge the problems of the real world at the 'judgment' step. Third, at the 'action' step, students practice moral behavior in relation to the sympathy or feeling they felt with the objects that they made a connection to. In conclusion, 'Practice Centered Mechanism of Manifesting Character' can be realized through the application of the NABI Program. The NABI Program can be a definite way to implement character education in the field of science education.

The Introduction of Design Thinking to Science Education and Exploration of Its Characterizations as a Method for Group Creativity Education (집단 창의성 교육을 위한 방안으로서 과학 교육에 디자인적 사고의 도입과 속성 탐색)

  • Group creativity has recently been heightened as a core competence in the 21st century. Therefore, there is a need for introduction of concepts on design thinking emphasizing the collaboration and empathy to science education as an effective method for fostering group creativity. Understanding design thinking for effective introduction should be preceded, so we explore the characterizations of design thinking through the generic model overlay method, focus group interview, and critical incident technique analysis. The results reveal 4 cluster units of competency and 15 core competencies. The collaboration cluster consists of 5 competencies and they are as follows: organization of the team, communication, self-control, persuasiveness, and initiative competency. The integrative thinking cluster consists of 3 competencies and they are as follows: analytical, strategic, and intuitive thinking competency. The human-centeredness cluster consists of 3 competencies and they are as follows: user-orientation, relationship building, and interpersonal understanding competency. The multidisciplinary cluster consists of 4 competencies and they are as follows: achievement orientation, information seeking, curiosity, and flexibility competency. Findings are expected to provide the basic data for developing programs and establishing strategies in order to foster group creativity as well as introducing design thinking to science education effectively.

Research on the Influence of Interaction, Identification and Recommendation of Entertainment Communication Platform (커뮤니케이션 플랫폼의 상호작용이 동일시와 추천 의도에 미치는 영향)

  • Under the long-term influence of COVID-19, offline activities were interrupted and online communication became the main way. With the rapid development of Korean Wave and network information technology, there have been many entertainment communication platforms. Fans can communicate with stars and other fans and share information through entertainment and communication platforms. This can improve users' perception of the value of entertainment communication platforms, arouse emotional resonance and have a positive impact on users' platform recommendation intention. In this study, the influence of user interaction, identity and recommendation intention of entertainment communication platforms was investigated by questionnaire. The results are as follows: First, the interaction between fans and content has a positive effect on psychological and behavioral identity. Second, the interaction between fans does not affect their psychological and behavioral identity. Third, the interaction between fans and stars has a positive impact on psychological identity and behavior identity. Fourth, psychological identity and behavioral identity have a positive impact on community members' willingness to recommend. Behavioral identity plays a partial mediating role between psychological identity and recommendation intention. Based on the above analysis results, the present situation, limitations and future research directions of this study are put forward.
