  • By reviewing preceding studies of big data and spatial big data, spatial big data was defined as one part of big data, which spatialize location information and systematize time series data. Spatial big data, as one part of big data, should not be separated with big data and application methods within the system is to be examined. Therefore in this study, services that spatial big data is required to provide were suggested. Spatial big data must be available of various spatial analysis and is in need of services that considers present and future spatial information. Not only should spatial big data be able to detect time series changes in location, but also analyze various type of big data using attribute information of spatial data. To successfully provide the requirements of spatial big data and link various type of big data with spatial big data, methods of forming sample points and extracting attribute information were proposed in this study. The increasing application of spatial information related to big data is expected to attribute to the development of spatial data industry and technological advancement.

  • Several countries have built National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) for information sharing among various fields. One of the important factors of NSDI is framework data, which is the most commonly used geospatial data across various fields. Previous studies on the framework data suggest components based on frequency survey and case study. However, such research methods do not have objectivity in setting the components of the framework data. This research uses factor analysis with 104 medium-level layers from the most widely used National Base Map and 5 layers from the other sources including cadastre and aerial image. Each layer is scaled with usage level as four different patterns of 1) background data, 2) reference data, 3) base data, and 4) other data, respectively. The analysis results show that the layers are grouped into 5 to 7 factors according to the patterns. ANOVA reveals that the mean differences between the factors with high values and the other factors with low values under each pattern are statistically significant. Such high value factors under each pattern consist of similar layers, close to identical, with those under the other categories. This research proposes framework data system, including transportation, building, hydrography, elevation, administrative district, digital orthoimagery, geodetic control, and cadastral based on the analysis results. Proposed framework in this research will be a basis of establishing spatial data sharing system. For sharing proposed framework data in various fields, these data must be established and distributed as actual standard and also related future researches should be performed.

  • Combining makerspaces and library services is an innovative idea that could positively and radically change the library user experience. The Library Makerspace is able to offer users a different view of the world, and give them the opportunity to explore and imagine new possibilities which they can then create. Therefore, this study focused on analyzing real-world makerspace examples to create suggests for utilizing this trend. The roles and concepts of library makerspaces derived through this research are as follows: space for infinite creativity as social communication space, study areas, job searches, self-publishing, idea incubation, collaboration, equipment and utilization, storytelling, expert mentoring and consulting, and so on. The possibilities are endless, and allow for the development and expansion of the library.

  • The implication of space in school libraries more important than the other types of libraries because their main user is students who are affected by service environment. Let me consider the reality of our circumstance, the space is not enough in the school library, Therefore, it is essential to utilize of library space effectively. So, this study intends to suggest effective organization model of school library space, through introduced by the notion of information commons. The results show that they are integrated within school library, which, in addition to other functions, may include recreation center, and interactive community, circulation space, administrative offices and so on and suggest the library space design and management need to reflect the flexibility and inter-activeness of the space. Also, in order to acquiring human-centered aspect and openness, school library appropriate space planning for present needs and future expansion is imperative within school community.

  • There is a growing interest in ubiquitous-related research and applications. Among them, GPS-based LBS have been developed and used actively. Recently, with the increase of large size buildings and disastrous events, indoor spaces are getting attention and related research activities are being carried out. Core technologies regarding indoor applications may include 3D indoor data modeling and localization sensor techniques that can integrate with indoor data. However, these technologies have not been standardized and established enough to be applied to indoor implementation. Thus, in this paper, we propose a method to build a relatively simple 3D indoor data modeling technique that can be applied to indoor location based applications. The proposed model takes the form of 2D-based multi-layered structure and has capability for 2D and 3D visualization. We tested three prototype applications using the proposed model; CA(cellular automata)-based 3D evacuation simulation, network-based routing, and indoor moving objects tracking using a stereo camera.

  • Today, the domestic construction area has changed from the ground development area to the underground space development area. In addition, the problems of sprawling development and environmental pollution in the process of developing underground space have become significant. In the circumstances, it is expected that the use of underground space information, which helps to understand underground space, will be on the sharp rise. However, the underground information in Korea is separately established and managed by each institution, and it is difficult to use the information in an integrated way. Therefore, at the time when the information on underground space is integrated, it is required to perform the integrated DB standardization in order to establish the integrated infrastructure of underground space information. In this work, this researcher studied a plan of using the standardization of the integrated infrastructure of underground space information. As a result, this work suggested standardization of each geologic stratum, standardization of unit systems, and standardization of the connection of underground space information regarding the standardization contents of underground space information integration. To examine its availability, this researcher conducted a questionnaire survey with experts of each institution. As a result, the suggested plan was found to be have high availability.
