The purpose of this study is to explore the characteristics of spatial expression in the works of Terunobu Fujimori, Japan's leading eco-friendly architect, in line with the contemporary background on environmental issues. As a method of research, we will select five representative multi-room spaces from the 1990s to the present and explore the characteristics of expression in the space through literature research. As a result of the analysis, we were actively using the strategy of using natural materials to finish the space and introduce plants into the building. Japan's strategy of borrowing traditional methods was to use them as a way of expressing space, a way of expressing fantasy and deviance. We expect that the demands of modern people seeking novelty in this era and the eco-friendly building plan of feasible alternatives can be presented as another methodology for spatial design.

In order to understand the characteristics of the Japanese conception of space, we examined the characteristics of Japanese human geography, schools of thought, and aesthetics through the examinations on relevant documents. In addition, we reorganized such cultural backgrounds in relation to the Japanese perception of space, extracting the fundamental principles and elements of Japanese space composition and examining their significance. We propose a structural framework for understanding and analyzing Japanese space based on the reciprocal relationship and meaning among the various elements of Japanese space. Using this analytical framework, we studied the representative works of Japanese interior space, concluding in an analysis of the expressive characteristics of the Japanese notion of space.

Contemporary human beings have tendency to orient themselves to a natural environment while they have adapted themselves to artificial surroundings, which implies that a development of interior space where man, nature and space are in a sympathetic harmony with one another through overcoming non-naturalness and non-humanization is seriously needed. There are two methods in that; one concerns an introduction of environment-friendly expressions into the interior space as its natural factor, and the other involves expressing natural objects or beauties with orderly change commonly seen around in form of artificial design. On this study, the definition of ″Environment-friendliness″ and how it has evolved itself with time are first considered to search out for environment-friendly characteristics in the interior design. And then, among the characteristics of environment$.$friendly expressions widely observed in the interior space, the two aspects are studied for our purpose; an introduction of natural factors and an expression with artificial design. For the study, public facilities located in Ulsan were proposed since they accommodated lots of people. To meet the needs of the times that the development of environment-friendly space should reflect the factors of beauty and comfort enough to live in, relevant studies should be more activated and specialized. When there are a wide understanding of and a profound work upon introducing natural factors as well as ones of sound design into the interior space, a desirable environment-friendly expression could be created.

Many libraries have recently become enlarged and industrialized. Spaces dedicated to natural environments and climates in libraries have been isolated, and spaces that take natural environments into consideration have only recently started to receive attention. People all around the world enjoy reading books in nature. Reading is interpreted as the same context as the desire to go somewhere higher. Contemporary people have discovered ways to enjoy reading books along with nature by establishing bookshelves in mountains, forests, or green fields. These people have created libraries that place nature as the protagonist. In spatial terms, natural environments mainly encompass scientific and systemic concepts and embrace a sentimental approach to the natural environments of local areas not previously considered. The purpose of this research study is to present the direction for spatial planning that harmonizes nature with space, and to propose the spatial planning of a "small library" by applying natural environmental characteristics.

The contemporary consumer's fashion retail shops are becoming diverse in function and sensitivity while keeping in mind the effects of consumer's lifestyles according to changing fashions. Recently, external changes and expressive characteristics have become symbolic in retail fashion shops. This reinforces the importance of the skin, which is becoming image-sensitive and increasingly important. Therefore, this thesis will study the relationship between expressive tendency and skin in fashion retail shops by distinguishing the characteristics of a skin historically as well by categorizing the four brands from flagship stores which have introduced brand identity and an exceptional expressiveness of skin into types of form and space.

본 논문에서는 비디오 스트림 서버에서 의미 기반 검색을 가능하게 하기 위하여 대용량 스트림 데이터를 효과적으로 표현하고 저장하는 기법을 제시한다. 비디오 스트림 내의 각 프레임을 다차원 공간상의 점으로 사상함으로써 비디오 스트림은 다차원 시퀀스(multidimensional sequence)로 표현되고, 이 시퀀스는 다시 비디오 세그먼트로 분할된다. 분할된 세그먼트로부터 정적인 특성과 연속된 프레임의 움직임을 나타내는 트랜드 벡터(trend vector)등의 의미 정보를 추출하여 모델링 함으로서 스트림 데이터를 효과적으로 표현한다. 또한 제안된 기법은 효율적인 검색을 위하여 비디오 세그먼트를 인덱싱하고 저장하는 방법을 제공함으로써 공간 사용의 효율성을 높이고 신속한 검색을 가능하게 한다.

자연에 대한 동경은 미와 삶과 근본에 대한 동경이 되어왔다. 자연을 배제한 아름다움을 추구하는 것은 아주 어려운 일이라고 할 수 있을 것이다. 그 중에서도 산이란 동양인들의 깊은 내면에서 찾아볼 수 있는, 심오한 곳으로 여겨져 왔으며, 일찍이 산에 대한 표현과 상상은 동양인들의 지성과 과학을 넘어서서 존재해 왔다. 본 작품에서는 산수를 가장 정확하게 표현할 수 있는 부감을 시점으로 택하고, 그 과정에서 생략된 공간감을 3차원의 공간은 해체와 종합이라는 작업을 통해 다시 한 번 새로운 공간으로 탄생하게 된다. 구조적인 특성과 함께 불규칙적인 움직임들을 다시 규칙적으로 보이게 하는 것이 착시와 표현에 의한 것이 아니고, 오히려 인간 내부에 있는 동경이 공간과 시간의 만남을 통해서 능동적으로 보게 하는 것이다. 이와 같은 작업을 통해서 공간이 한 차원이나, 고정된 틀 안에 묶여지는 것이 아니고 새로운 공간의 창출을 구성해 볼 수 있다는 것을 확인하고자 하는 것이 본 작업의 토대라 하겠다.

The spatial distribution characteristics and patterns of geographic features in space can be understood through a variety of analysis techniques. The scale is one of most important factors in spatial analysis techniques. This study is aimed at identifying the characteristics of spatial data with a coarser spatial resolution and finding procedures for spatial resolution in operational scale. To achieve these objectives, this study selected LANSAT TM imagery for Sunchon Bay, a coastal wetland for a study site, applied the indices for representing scale characteristics with resolution, and compared those indices. Local variance and fractal dimension developed by previous studies were applied to measure the textual characteristics. In this study, Moran s I was applied to measure spatial pattern change of variance data which were generated from the process of coarser resolution. Drawing upon the Moran s I of variancedata was optimum technique for analysing spatial structure than those of previous studies (local variance and fractal dimension). When the variance data represents maximum Moran´s I at certainly resolution, spatial data reveals maximum change at that resolution. The optimum resolution for spatial data can be explored by applying these results.

Modem church architecture in korea have many problems in the shape and composition of space and design method. Many church were built without consideration of the identity of the christian religion. The characters of Ando Tadao's church architecture are using the transition space, light and the symbol. The transition space similar to the approach process using in asian temple. It make a meditative space for the church during approach to the chapel. Ando Tadao make meditative space by using self-support wall. In here, Self-supporting wall devide space as the holly space and the common space. Light is very important element in church architecture. He introduce light and shadow in the chapel more significant element. Light and shadow make the space with very dignity. Also, Ando Tadao use symbol as important element. It make the identity of christian religion. He make that as a part of structure. The well-controled symbols change the simple space to more religious place.

This research proposes contextual space expression as a possibility of solution methods for local and historical issues, the matters that our contemporary architecture has to overcome. When modernistic architecture aimed for anonymous public interests denying the characteristics in historical and spacial contexts, postmodern architecture and regional architecture, etc have been striving to revive discontinued contextual meanings using various historical and environmental elements. While such attempts only borrowed architectural materials by superficially understanding the context, they could not comprehend ceaselessly changing contexts sufficiently. Choosing Jean Nouvel as one of the architects that can explain spatial plan to properly respond to such ever-changing, contemporary contexts, the researcher intended to understand his line of expressional characteristics of his architectural space and analyze his works as examples.
