An Efficient Framework for Making Spatial Augmented Reality Digital Contents (공간 증강 현실 디지털 콘텐츠 제작을 위한 효율적인 프레임워크)

  • We introduce a new framework for making spatial augmented reality contents fast and with low cost. The framework allows us to make projection-based augmented reality using off-the-shelf webcams and projectors. Contents producers can make a projection-based augmented reality contents easy and fast by setting a webcam and a projector and then controlling user interfaces of our framework. Since most of previous solutions are expensive and it is too difficult that the producers apply augmented reality techniques themselves, the framework helps them to concentrate contents. Once we set a webcam and a projector correctly, our framework projects a virtual object contents according to the manipulation of a trackable real object. As a result we can see realistic augmented reality contents.

  • Natural interface is important to select and provide the services in ubiquitous smart space such as u-plant, u-distribution. Augmented Reality(AR) has recently begun to receive attention as a realization tool for natural interface. AR provides virtual object on real environment and it differs from virtual reality. When AR is used, it has advantage to provide information intuitively and collaboratively. However AR is rarely used in e-commerce domain of ubiquitous smart space, and it has limitation which predefined information and services provide in a static manner. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to propose a methodology of AR based e-commerce which provides personalized association service by considering user's dynamic context. To do so, association algorithm is developed based on Rescorla-Wagner model and Galton's free association test.

  • 가상 현실과 현실 세계가 공존하는 증강 현실은 현재 및 향후 실감미디어 콘텐츠에 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다. 증강 현실은 게임, 엔터테인먼트, 교육 분야 등에서 응용에 따라 다양한 기술들의 결합이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 교육적 효과를 주는 버블 포핑 증강 현실 기법을 제안한다. 버블 포핑 시스템은 비디오 입력용 웹캠, 마커 패턴 영상, 그래픽 구 버블 객체, 그래픽 마우스 등으로 구성된다. 일반 마우스의 이동에 따라 그래픽 마우스가 3차원 공간상에서 이동하면서 버블과의 충돌이 발생하게 되면, 충돌시 발생하는 버블의 이벤트로 동적 움직임, 터짐 등의 버블 효과를 구현할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 충돌 검출은 카메라와 마커 패턴의 좌표계 및 버블의 3차원 공간위치, 그리고 3차원 모델 데이터를 이용하여 구현한다. 제안 시스템은 ARToolkit을 기반으로 제작되었으며, 시각적인 마커 기반 시스템으로 버블의 움직임과 사용자의 인터랙션을 통해, 버블 포핑의 증강현실을 전달한다. 향후, 현재 개발 중인 포스 피드백 기능이 있는 진동촉각공간 햅틱 마우스와 접목하여 보다 실감적인 증강현실 기술을 개발할 예정이다.

Study on Management of Water Pipes in Buildings using Augmented Reality (증강현실을 이용한 건물의 수도관 관리 방안 연구)

  • Digital twin is a technology that creates a virtual space that replicates the real world and manages the real world efficiently by integrating the real and virtual spaces. The digital twin concept for water facilities is to effectively manage water pipes in the real world by implementing them in a virtual space and augmenting them to the interior space of the building. In the proposed method, the Unity 3D game engine is used to implement the application of digital twin technology in the interior of a building. The AR Foundation toolkit based on ARCore is used as the augmented reality technology for our Digital Twin implementation. In digital twin applications, it is essential to match the real and virtual worlds. In the proposed method, 2D image markers are used to match the real and virtual worlds. The Unity shader program is also applied to make the augmented objects visually realistic. The implementation results show that the proposed method is simple but accurate in placing water pipes in real space, and visually effective in representing water pipes on the wall.

  • The commemorative AR postage stamps which are the world first presented at The YEOSU EXPO 2012 has had meaning of communicating with future in this present from a convergence that the most analog medium is using now and that the AR is cutting edge of digital technology. The AR stamps printed 10 kind out of 33 commemorative stamps. These have great significance that is artistic value than that is world first. The applied AR images are not only expressed 3D real images but also artic represented and signifying each stamp images from visualized creativity process, and build 'new art space' that is new concept between on real(analog) and virtual(digital). This study analyzes meaning of images and then makes concept of AR contents design. The processing is designed and considered the meaning of architectures and environments, and the regional specific feature of the Yeosu with surrealistic graphic concept. The 10 of deducted images were expressed after AR coding such as visual arts. This study realized markerless 3D image tracking AR stamps and deducted research result are; the first, it was able to figure out how to realize AR in the process of registering the reference images, coordinating transformation, and hybriding AR on the stamps for the mobile devices. The second, it was able to be seeked a possibility of new virtual exhibition space. The third, it was able to know possibility of satisfaction of immersing with visual formativeness and usability with informativity.

  • In this study, we propose an information providing and learning system using augmented reality in the exhibition (museum, performance) environment. In a typical exhibition space, a description of a picture or a photograph is provided in a printed matter or a space in the form of an information space (explanatory space), or an auxiliary explanation using an 'audio guide' or a 'docent' program. Augmented reality technology is applied to the exhibition space in the form of a fusion of these methods, and the description of the exhibition is provided to the user in various forms such as text, picture, audio and image, thereby providing stereoscopic information and learning. We apply the augmented reality technology in a specific exhibition space and utilize it as a tool of providing information and learning using image description of pictures.

  • As the interest in home furnishing becomes more focused due to the increase of small-sized households, the need for a virtual simulation system for this purpose is increasing. However, in the case of existing virtual simulation systems, simulation is performed using a virtual object in a virtual space, so accurate simulation results can not be derived. In the case of a simulation using an augmented reality, Thereby causing inconsistency in space. In this paper, we propose a system that performs the home furnishing simulation by modifying and enhancing objects in the process of matching feature coordinates of real space.

증강현실 오디오 시스템에서의 객체 오디오 획득 및 렌더링 기술

  • 본 고에서는 증강현실 오디오에 대한 개념을 기술하고, 이를 실현하기 위하여 필요한 요소 기술들을 논한다. 먼저, 실사 오디오의 객체화를 위하여 실사 오디오의 획득 방법 및 이를 객체화하는 방법에 대하여 서술한다. 또한, 실사 오디오와 가상 오디오의 혼합을 위하여 필요한 실사 오디오의 공간 정보 추출 및 가상 오디오의 공간 정보 부여 기술을 설명한다. 그리고 오디오 증강을 위한 객체 오디오의 렌더링 기술에 대해 소개한다. 마지막으로 이러한 요소 기술들을 통합한 증강현실 오디오 시스템의 사례를 기술하는 것으로 본 고를 마무리한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 현실공간에 가상의 정보를 추가하는 증강현실 환경과 산업 전반에 걸쳐 적용되고 있는 다양한 센서가 설치된 운영시스템과 연계하여 정보를 지속적으로 모니터링 및 관리할 수 있는 객체-포인트 관계기반 실시간 증강현실 컨텐츠 플랫폼을 제안한다. 객체-포인트 관계기반 실시간 증강현실 컨텐츠 플랫폼은 설비 및 센서 등 관리의 대상이 되는 객체와 해당 객체에서 받을 수 있는 정보로 구성된 포인트의 집합으로 이루어져 있으며, 이를 가능하게 하는 관리시스템-플랫폼-컨텐츠 간의 API 를 제공한다. 제공되는 API 를 통해 증강현실 컨텐츠와 실시간 관리 대상인 객체와의 연계가 가능하며, 이미 운영되고 있는 시스템의 변경 없이도 증강현실에서 표현할 객체 정보의 수정이 가능하도록 설계되었다. 따라서 제안하는 객체-포인트 관계 기반 실시간 증강현실 컨텐츠 플랫폼은 산업과 증강현실 기술의 융합을 도모하며 산업 전반에 걸친 증강현실 산업 생태계에서 긍정적인 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.

Study on the Characteristics of Media Environment of MRS (혼합현실공간(MRS)의 미디어환경 특성연구)

  • In these days, space design is evolving to the mixed reality space where fused on-line and off-line. But, standard and measure of mixed reality space has not been suggested and there has been little research about media environment and expression method as a mixed system either. That's why here I suggest four media environments and their characteristics that act not only as a critical point in the mixed reality space based on ubiquitous technology but also as a standard for spatial discerning. 1) Real space that is a media environment only seen by human visual and tactical sense is evolving using expression methods like new materials based on digital technology and LED. 2) Augmented reality space is a media environment using information instruments is expressed with diverse 2D and 3D contents. 3) Cyber Space is a environment depends totally on media instruments is produced by perfect graphic information without any spatial and physical limitations. 4) Augmented cyber space is realized only through the displays in cyber studio and is a space where real objects and graphic information are mixed. Depending on the purpose of the experience, media environment and expressional characteristics of mixed reality space can be fused, blended, and mixed, and that can be realized to the intelligent information space where one can experience without spatial, visual, informational limitations. In the future, studies on physical characteristics of contents according to the media environment characteristics are necessary.
