The ALE specification of EPCglobal is leading the development of RFID standards, includes the Event Cycle Specification (ECSpec) describing how long a cycle is, how to filter RFID tag data and which reader is interested in. The ECSpec is a specification for filtering and collecting RFID tag data. It is registered to a middleware for long time and is evaluated to return results satisfying the requirements included in it. Thus, it is quite similar to the continuous query. It can be transformed into a continuous query as its predicate in WHERE clause is characterized by the long interval. Long intervals cause problems deteriorating insertion and search performance of existing query indices. In this paper, we propose a TLC-index as a new query index structure for long interval data. The TLC-index has hybrid structure that uses the cell construct of CQI-index with the virtual construct of VCR-index for partitioning long intervals. The TLC-index can reduce the storage cost and improve the insertion performance through decomposing long intervals into one or more cell constructs that have long size. It can also improve the search performance through decomposing short intervals into one or more virtual constructs that have short size enough to fit into those intervals.

As long span and complex bridges are constructed often recently, safety estimation became a big issue. Various types of measuring instruments are installed in case of long span bridge. New wireless technologies for long span bridges such as sending information through a gateway at the field or sending it through cables by signal processing the sensing data are applied these days. However, The case of occurred accidents related to bridge in the world have been reported that serious accidents occur due to lack of real-time proactive, intelligent action based on recognition accidents. To solve this problem in this study, the idea of "communication among things", which is the basic method of RFID/USN technology, is applied to the bridge monitoring system. A sensor node module for USN based intelligent bridge system in which sensor are utilized on the bridge and communicates interactively to prevent accidents when it captures the alert signals and urgent events, sends RF wireless signal to the nearest traffic signal to block the traffic and prevent massive accidents, is designed and tested by performing TinyOS based middleware design and sensor test free Space trans-receiving distance.

Recently research efforts for ubiquitous technology that includes RFID(Radio Frequency Deification and sensor networks are conducted very actively The architectural framework of the USN sensor network discovery service. The survey of the USN technology is conducted on four technological visions that contain USN system technology USN networking technology and USN middleware along with the service platform, With respect to each technological division domestic and worldwide leading research projects are primarily explored with their technical features and research projects are primarily explored with their technical features and research outputs. Boasted on the result of the survey we establish a USN software model that includes data sensing, sensor data storage sensor data storage sensor data naming and sensor feed name service. This main objective of this model is to provide a reference model for the facilitation of USN application developments.
In this paper, we design and implement an Internet GIS based on ObjectWeb, which makes to use various distributed services and object paradigm. We use CORBA, which is the standard of distributed object middleware and supports interoperability and reusability regardless of the execution environment and the implementation language of a distributed code, so that it easily extends established systems in networking environment and accesses distributed heterogeneous spatial data. Our method distributes parts of user interactive tasks to clients to reduce and to improve the system performance while existing approaches concentrate all workloads on a server. We implement a travel information system on the developed IGIS. Users receive services from remote servers employing a Java client system running on a web browser.
This study attempts at building a GIS computing environment that incorporates object-relational spatio-temporal database for the time geography model with space-time path, space-time prism and space-time accessibility. The proposed computing environment is composed of ( i ) mobile GIS application for collecting spatio-temporal trajectory data of an individual, ( ii ) spatio-temporal database server that includes time geography model, and (iii) geovisualization client that performs time geographic queries to the spatio-temporal database. The spatio-temporal trajectory data collected by GPS-PDA client is automatically processed and sent to server through data management middleware. The spatio-temporal database implemented by extending a generic DBMS provides spatio-temporal objects, functions, and SQL. The geovisualization client illustrates 3D visual results of the queries about space-time path, space-time prism, and space-time accessibility. This study confirms the possibility of integrating mobile GIS and DBMS for time geography model, and it presents the appropriate database model with spatio-temporal objects and functions that may handle very large data for time geography application.

A challenging task in the LBS system engineering is to implement a highly scalable system architecture which can manage moderate-size configurations handling thousands of moving items as well as upper-end configurations handling distributed computing system architecture that consists of multiple data processors, each dedicated to keeping records relevant to a different geographical zone and a different time zone. In this paper, we explain a prototype location data server structuring major components of GALIS by employing the TMO programming scheme, including the execution engine middleware developed to support real-time distributed object programming and real-time distributed computing system design. We present how to generate realistic location sensing reports and how to process such location reports and location-related queries. Some experimental results showing performance factors regarding distributed query processing are also explained.

This study intended to show the way of evolving 'National Geographic Information Clearinghouse' to 'National Integrated Geospatial Portal'. For this purpose we have analyzed Geospatial One-Stop Portal in the US and then suggested future model of National Geographic Information Clearinghouse. The Integrated Geospatial Portal model is based on the Reference Model for Open Distributed Processing(RM-ODP) which is an international model for information distribution and sharing. The Integrated Geospatial Portal architecture consists of the data layer, middle-ware, presentation layer. It will help users to determine their fitness for nation wide GIS application and provide tools for accessing, visualizing, or ordering various geospatial data.

The most critical technology to implement ubiquitous health care is Ubiquitous Sensor Network (USN) technology which makes use of various sensor technologies, processor integration technology, and wireless network technology-Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Wireless Sensor Network (WSN)-to easily gather and monitor actual physical environment information from a remote site. With the feature, the USN technology can make the information technology of the existing virtual space expanded to actual environments. However, although the RFID and the WSN have technical similarities and mutual effects, they have been recognized to be studied separately, and sufficient studies have not been conducted on the technical integration of the RFID and the WSN. Therefore, EPCglobal which realized the issue proposed the EPC Sensor Network to efficiently integrate and interoperate the RFID and WSN technologies based on the international standard EPCglobal network. The proposed EPC Sensor Network technology uses the Complex Event Processing method in the middleware to integrate data occurring through the RFID and the WSN in a single environment and to interoperate the events based on the EPCglobal network. However, as the EPC Sensor Network technology continuously performs its operation even in the case that the minimum conditions are not to be met to find complex events in the middleware, its operation cost rises. Moreover, since the technology is based on the EPCglobal network, it can neither perform its operation only for the sake of sensor data, nor connect or interoperate with each information system in which the most important information in the ubiquitous computing environment is saved. Therefore, to address the problems of the existing system, we proposed the design and implementation of USN integration management system. For this, we first proposed an integration system that manages RFID and WSN data based on Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). Secondly, we defined the minimum conditions of the complex events to detect unnecessary complex events in the middleware, and proposed an algorithm that can extract complex events only when the minimum conditions are to be met. To evaluate the performance of the proposed methods we implemented SIP-based integration management system.

As computer systems of high capacity and high performance recently emerged, various researches about GISs(Geographic Information Systems) have been in progress and many GIS applications have also been developed. From the domestic situation where many people are using mobile devices, because of the recent advances in the mobile technology, we can infer that the time will come when every individual will carry a mobile device with a GPS(Global Positioning System) module resulting from the development of a miniature GPS Module. Therefore, a mobile GIS that can allows users to deal with dynamic GIS data management and perform their tasks while moving will be required. This paper discusses the design and implementation of a mobile GIS using the shareware DBMS, called postgresSQL. The Mobile GIS in which a mobile concept is utilized at the GIS data server makes it possible to insert, delete, update GIS data, to zoom in and zoom out displayed maps, and to locate the user's position on the client device. Therefore, It is possible to manage dynamic GIS data in order to deal with GIS data on the maps while moving, connect various GIS data servers through the middleware, and connected with ITS (Intelligent Transport System) which is one of applications of the Mobile GIS developed in this paper.

This paper describes UPnP AV System which provides various multimedia services in home network composed of diverse multimedia devices. It is difficult to build home network where various multimedia services can be provided because there are a lot of difference devices, platforms, and network technologies. However, UPnP middleware can make up multimedia service environment in that home network. Therefore this paper describes how the multimedia service environment is built with UPnP middleware. We analyze and modify MediaServer, MediaRenderer, and Control Point, which these are the components of UPnP AV archtecture. Additionally we provide some efficient GUI to use different kind of multimedia in any place of home networks. We propose UPnP AV Framework of playback module that consist of MediaServer providing contents, MediaRenderer using contents, and Control Point providing GUI. Especially, MediaRenderer and Control Point are integrated in set-top.
