Spatial resolution effects in hyper-resolution urban flood modeling (초고해상도 도시 홍수 모의의 공간해상별 침수해석 특성 분석)

  • 기후변화와 도시화로 인한 집중 호우와 불투수층 증가로 도시 홍수의 발생 빈도와 규모가 증가하고 있다. 인적, 물적 자원이 집중되어 있는 도시유역의 특성상 침수가 발생하면 이로 인한 직접적 피해 뿐만 아니라 사회경제적 2차 피해를 발생한다. 도시 홍수로 인한 피해를 줄이고 도시의 재해에 대한 회복력을 키우기 위해서는 관측과 더불어 정확한 모의 기술이 중요하다. 한편, 격자 기반 도시 홍수 모의는 집중 호우에 따른 침수의 시공간적 발생 양상을 물리적으로 해석하는 방법으로, 지표수-우수관거 이중배제 통합 모의, 수치기법, 병렬컴퓨팅, 수질 연계 모의 등의 측면에서 지금까지 많은 발전이 이루어져 왔다. 최근들어 원격탐사 기술의 발달로 공간해상도 1미터 수준 혹은 그 이상의 초고해상도 지형자료가 많은 지역에서 대해 가용해지고 있으며, 도시 홍수 해석에 이와 같은 초고해상도 자료를 적용하기 위한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 초고해상도 지형 및 토지 피복 자료의 공간해상도가 침수해석에 미치는 영향을 분석한다. 도시침수의 두가지 주요 요인인 내수침수와 외수범람 중에서 극한 강우에 의한 내수침수해석 사례만을 주요 연구 범위로 한다. 초고해상도 입력자료의 격자기반 도수 해석 모형으로는 운동파 기반의 2차원 지표 흐름 해석 모형을 적용하고, 초고해상도 모의의 효율적 계산을 위해 하이브리드 병렬 컴퓨팅 기술을 이용한다. 초고해상도 입력자료 적용 사례 대비, 공간해상도 저하에 따라 침수 면적이나 깊이 등에서 어떤 변화가 있는지 정량적으로 검토한다. 또한, 강우의 강도 및 공간분포가 초고해상도 도시 홍수 해석에 미치는 영향에 대해서 분석한다. 모의 결과로부터 도시 홍수 해석시 거리 단위(street-level) 정확도의 재현을 위해 적정한 공간해상도를 분석하고, 초고해상도 도시 홍수 모의를 이용한 기후변화에 따른 극한 홍수의 도시지역 영향 분석 및 회복력 개선 관련 연구의 가능성에 대해 논의한다.

Spatial Attention Can Enhance or Impair Visual Temporal Resolution (공간 주의가 시각적 시간 해상도에 미치는 영향)

  • Transient attention impairs observers' temporal resolution in a cued location. This detrimental effect of attention was ascribed to inhibitory connections from parvocellular to magnocellular neurons [1]. Alternatively, the difficulty might arise because attention facilitates the temporal summation of two successive stimuli. The current study examined this hypothesis by manipulating the luminance polarity of the stimuli against a background. Attention should not modulate temporal summation of two anti-polar stimuli because these are processed in separate channels. Indeed, observers judged the temporal order of two successive stimuli better in the cued location than in the uncued location when the stimuli were opposite in polarity, but temporal resolution was worse in the cued location when the stimuli had the same polarity. Thus, attentional effects on temporal resolution may be attributed to temporal summation rather than parvocellular inhibition of magnocellular activity.

Pan-Sharpening Algorithm of High-Spatial Resolution Satellite Image by Using Spectral and Spatial Characteristics (영상의 분광 및 공간 특성을 이용한 고해상도 위성영상 융합 알고리즘)

  • Generally, image fusion is defined as generating re-organized image by merging two or more data using special algorithms. In remote sensing, image fusion technique is called as Pan-sharpening algorithm because it aims to improve the spatial resolution of original multispectral image by using panchromatic image of high-spatial resolution. The pan-sharpened image has been an important task due to various applications such as change detection, digital map creation and urban analysis. However, most approaches have tended to distort the spectral information of the original multispectral data or decrease the spatial quality compared with the panchromatic image. In order to solve these problems, a novel pan-sharpening algorithm is proposed by considering the spectral and spatial characteristics of multispectral image. The algorithm is applied to the KOMPSAT-2 and QuickBird satellite image and the results showed that our method can improve the spectral/spatial quality compared with the existing fusion algorithms.

Texture-Spatial Separation based Feature Distillation Network for Single Image Super Resolution (단일 영상 초해상도를 위한 질감-공간 분리 기반의 특징 분류 네트워크)

  • In this paper, I proposes a method for performing single image super resolution by separating texture-spatial domains and then classifying features based on detailed information. In CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) based super resolution, the complex procedures and generation of redundant feature information in feature estimation process for enhancing details can lead to quality degradation in super resolution. The proposed method reduced procedural complexity and minimizes generation of redundant feature information by splitting input image into two channels: texture and spatial. In texture channel, a feature refinement process with step-wise skip connections is applied for detail restoration, while in spatial channel, a method is introduced to preserve the structural features of the image. Experimental results using proposed method demonstrate improved performance in terms of PSNR and SSIM evaluations compared to existing super resolution methods, confirmed the enhancement in quality.

  • The high resolution satellite images are used in many fields such as weather observation, remote sensing, military facilities monitoring, cultural properties protection etc. Although satellite images are obtained in same satellite imaging system, the satellite images are degraded depending on the condition of hardware(optical device, satellite operation altitude, image sensor, etc.). Due to the fact that changing the hardware of satellite imaging system is impossible for resolution enhancement of these degraded satellite after launching a satellite, therefore the method of resolution enhancement with satellite images is necessary. In this paper the resolution is enhances by using a Super Resolution(SR) algorithm. The SR algorithm is an algorithm to enhance the resolution of an image by uniting many low resolution images, so an output image has higher resolution than using other interpolation methods. But It is difficult to obtain many images of the same area. Therefore, to solve this problem, we applied SR after by applying the affine and projection transform. As a results, we found that the images applied SR after affine and projection transform have higher resolution than the images only applied SR.

A Comparison of Pan-sharpening Algorithms for GK-2A Satellite Imagery (천리안위성 2A호 위성영상을 위한 영상융합기법의 비교평가)

  • In order to detect climate changes using satellite imagery, the GCOS (Global Climate Observing System) defines requirements such as spatio-temporal resolution, stability by the time change, and uncertainty. Due to limitation of GK-2A sensor performance, the level-2 products can not satisfy the requirement, especially for spatial resolution. In this paper, we found the optimal pan-sharpening algorithm for GK-2A products. The six pan-sharpening methods included in CS (Component Substitution), MRA (Multi-Resolution Analysis), VO (Variational Optimization), and DL (Deep Learning) were used. In the case of DL, the synthesis property based method was used to generate training dataset. The process of synthesis property is that pan-sharpening model is applied with Pan (Panchromatic) and MS (Multispectral) images with reduced spatial resolution, and fused image is compared with the original MS image. In the synthesis property based method, fused image with desire level for user can be produced only when the geometric characteristics between the PAN with reduced spatial resolution and MS image are similar. However, since the dissimilarity exists, RD (Random Down-sampling) was additionally used as a way to minimize it. Among the pan-sharpening methods, PSGAN was applied with RD (PSGAN_RD). The fused images are qualitatively and quantitatively validated with consistency property and the synthesis property. As validation result, the GSA algorithm performs well in the evaluation index representing spatial characteristics. In the case of spectral characteristics, the PSGAN_RD has the best accuracy with the original MS image. Therefore, in consideration of spatial and spectral characteristics of fused image, we found that PSGAN_RD is suitable for GK-2A products.

A Fast Motion Estimation Algorithm Based on Multi-Resolution Frame Structure (다 해상도 프레임 구조에 기반한 고속 움직임 추정 기법)

  • We present a multi-resolution block matching algorithm (BMA) for fast motion estimation At the coarsest level, a motion vector (MV) having minimum matching error is chosen via a full search, and a MV with minimum matching error is concurrently found among the MVs of the spatially adjacent blocks Here, to examine the spatial MVs accurately, we propose an efficient method for searching full resolution MV s without MV quantization even at the coarsest level The chosen two MV s are used as the initial search centers at the middle level At the middle level, the local search is performed within much smaller search area around each search center If the method used at the coarsest level is adopted here, the local searches can be done at integer-pel accuracy A MV having minimum matching error is selected within the local search areas, and then the final level search is performed around this initial search center Since the local searches are performed at integer-pel accuracy at the middle level, the local search at the finest level does not take an effect on the overall performance So we can skip the final level search without performance degradation, thereby the search speed increases Simulation results show that in comparison with full search BMA, the proposed BMA without the final level search achieves a speed-up factor over 200 with minor PSNR degradation of 02dB at most, under a normal MPEG2 coding environment Furthermore, our scheme IS also suitable for hardware implementation due to regular data-flow.

  • 스마트폰 응용 프로그램의 메모리 관리는 응용 프로그램의 속도와 안정성 측면에서 중요하게 다루어진다. 응용 프로그램에서 다루는 요소 중 이미지는 메모리 사용량의 많은 부분을 차지하며, 메모리의 여유 공간 내에서 이미지가 사용될 수 있도록 관리되어야 한다. 그러나 이미지의 해상도가 커지거나 다루게 되는 이미지의 개수가 늘어날 수록 이미지 객체의 관리의 어려움도 늘어나게 된다. 이미지 객체가 메모리 공간이 부족한 시점에서 메모리에 적재될 경우 응용 프로그램은 성능이 저하되거나 강제 종료될 수 있어 응용 프로그램의 사용성과 안정성이 낮아지게 된다. 본 논문에서는 안드로이드의 응용 프로그램에서 사용되는 이미지가 메모리의 많은 공간을 차지할 때, 안정적인 응용 프로그램 구동 환경을 제공해주는 동적 메모리 관리 기법을 적용하여 OOM(Out of Memory) 오류가 발생하는 문제를 해결하고자 한다.

포항로란신호에 의한 영일만 해상 ASF 측정

  • 지상파 항법인 로란은 전송된 신호는 장파특성에 따라 지표파에 의한 정보를 전달하게 되는데 지표면과 해수면의 특성 즉, 전도도에 따라 전파의 지연시간이 달라진다. 이것은 정확도를 저하시키는 원인이 된다. 그러므로 보다 정확도가 요구되는 지역에서는 전파지연에 의해 발생하는 시간적 공간전 변화(ASF)를 보상하게 되면 정확도를 향상시킬 수 있다. 로란시스템의 현대화와 eLoran 시스템에서는 ASF를 보상함으로써 선박이 항만으로 진입 및 접안할 때 활용할 수 있는 정확도 기준을 마련하고 있다. 이 조건을 충족시키기 위해서는 ASF의 정밀측정 필수이며, 본 논문에서는 포항송신국 근해인 영일만 해상에서 ASF를 실측한 결과와 그에 필요한 측정기술을 보고한다.

Fast Transcoding from H.264 to MPEG-4 (H.264에서 MPEG-4로 빠른 트랜스코딩)

  • This paper proposed two transcodiing methods, which maintain the same spatio-temporal resolution and reduce a spatial resolution, to convert a H.264 video bitstream into an MPEG-4 video bitstream. When the H.264 video bitstream is transformed into the MPEG-4 video bitstream, the conversions between H.264 block types and MPEG-4 block types are performed by minimizing distortion and the ${\times}4$ block-based motion vector mapping is performed. The proposed two transcoding methods run 4.14~5.1 times as fast as the cascaded transcoding methods in MPEG-4 encoder side, while the PSNR (peak-signal-to ratio) is slightly degrade with maximum 0.3dB.
