Various changes in medical environments including growing elderly population, chronic diseases, deepening competition among hospitals since opening to foreign medical service, economic strategy for improvement of profit system have caused hospitals to be specialized. In this backgrounds, the purpose of this study is to receive basic data for architectural planning on the spatial organization of outpatient department in general hospital. The results of this study were as follows; First, major changes of outpatient department in general hospital are composed of 'co-work in medical examination and treatment', 'decentralization of diagnosis and treatment(D/T)' and 'patient-oriented medical service'. Changes by co-work system include appearance of medical offices for co-work, activation of specialized clinics, grouping of E/T section for outpatient and various types of specialized centers. Second, the grouping of E/T sections means the modification of E/T system and organization in general hospitals, and a new spatial organization will be needed. Third, the types of specialized centers are getting varied. they are classified into several types including disease-resource, social stratum-resource, human organ-resource, health-resource, rehabilitation-resource, alternative medical center and so on.

Purpose: The Hybrid care environment, combining interventional procedures and surgeries in one space, is crucial for managing complex diseases, responding to emergencies, and reducing recovery times and pain. This study provides foundational data for creating architectural guidelines for a Hybrid Operating Unit in a general hospital's surgical department, focusing on cardiovascular care. Methods: The study analyzed the spatial and configuration types of the Vascular Angiography Unit and the Cardiac Operating Unit, which are the basic components of the Hybrid Operating Unit, through a literature review. Based on the initial research findings, interviews with experts were conducted. Results: In the Hybrid Operating Process, the study proposed spatial configuration alternatives that consider the positioning of medical staff and the types and arrangement changes of equipment, including Angiography, Heart-lung machines, and other surgical tools and instruments. Implications: The integration of the two units leads to increased diversity and demand for medical staff, equipment, and supplies during surgical and interventional procedures. Therefore, strategic spatial configurations and equipment placement are necessary to effectively respond to these needs.

This study proposes proportions of functional areas in the ward of general hospitals, which are derived from 5 big university hospitals in order to establish the ward area standard for hospital design. The results of this paper are as follows. First, functional areas of hospital ward are composed of bedroom area, nursing area, training area, service area, and common area. Of course common area can be divided into first common area and secondary common area. The first common area(inter departmental common area) includes lobbies, elevator lobbies, corridors, restroom, and mechanical shafts. The secondary common area means the common area within special department such as ward or radiology department. Second, a standard method of calculating ward areas has been proposed: the standard is based on the center line of the wall between functional areas. Third, the proportions of 6 functional areas in ward are suggested.

Purpose: As the nation is becoming an aging society, there is an increasing number of the patient who has Neuroscience disease. So it is necessary to build a facility which provides specialized health care. Methods: Field surveys to facilities and analysis to the floor plan have been conducted in order to suggest adequate architectural composition to the specialized neuroscience center and the dimensions of rooms. Results: The result of this study can be summarized into six points which contain guide to how to organize the specialized neuroscience center. One of the most important things in this study is to suggest the architectural type which provides efficient collaborating system between the outpatient and angiography unit. Implications: It can be said that this paper can be useful research material when the architect tries to plan the specialized neuroscience center.

As we make every effort to improve our health, the needs and interests of the rehabilitation medicine is increasing. And as society gets more advanced and as the quality of life become higher, rehabilitation department will be important for general hospital and we need the certain guidelines about it. In this study, selected 8 general hospitals in the metropolitan area are analyzed by the analysis of drawings and comparison. The important architectural planning of rehabilitation department are the connection with orthopedics and neurosurgery and the position for convenience approach. Rehabilitation department has 0.63~1.07% of general hospital area. And the rehabilitation department is divided into four branches - medical service space, office space, public space and support space. As the number of programs in the rehabilitation department is increasing, the planning will be considered for the flexible use. And this study proposed the programs, necessary spaces, space composition and basic planning of "rehabilitation department".

As the national income has improved and people's concern with health has improved, it becomes essential to operate the health examination center in a general hospitals. Furthermore, medical consuming pattern has significantly changed, and requires diverse health check services. This study aims to represent the standards for architectural planning of the health examination center in a general hospital according to domestic situations. The present conditions and space programs of 5 general hospitals were investigated and analyzed for this purpose. This study also aims to suggest the unit area of each examination room and the method to decide the number of each examination room in the health examination Center.
