A Study on Strategy Direction for Promoting the Geo-spatial Information Industry by Input-Output Analysis (산업연관분석을 통한 공간정보산업의 특징 및 정책방향성에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, we derived the characteristics of the geo-spatial information industry by using input-output analysis. For this analysis, we classified the geo-spatial information industry and reorganized the input-output table. And we derived the production inducement coefficient, index of the power of dispersion and index of the sensitivity of dispersion in the geo-spatial information industry. We confirmed that geo-spatial information industry has a small production inducement coefficient and a great forward linkage effect. Based on these facts, we suggested the strategy direction as follows: 1) building the industrial eco-system, 2) managing both advance and applicability enhancement, 3) Establishing from a long-term point of view.

  • Spatial information has influenced government policy formation, business strategy implementation, and our everyday life enormously. Digital earth enterprises providing global spatial data services emerge as spatial data industry grows rapidly. So it is highly desirable to grasp recent trends in the industry and find critical success factors (CSFs) for the digital earth firms. The purpose of this study is to compare strategies of digital earth enterprises and find CSFs for them. In addition, strategy analysis framework elaborations, systematic analysis of spatial data industry and market segmentation based on value chain are also performed to trace and cope with the volatile industry environment. Derived CSFs are as follows. First, acquisition of differentiated high quality spatial data is needed. Second, customer oriented convergent contents should be developed. Third, advanced platform functionalities must be provided to consumers. Finally, construction of efficient and effective global value chain is desirable.

The Exploration of Intersectoral Convergence of Spatial Information Industry and Forecast of its Market Size (공간정보산업 융·복합부문 탐색 및 시장규모 전망 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the convergence sector of the spatial information industry based on the business transaction data of spatial information companies and to predict the market size of the industry using the Seemingly Unrelated Regression(SUR) model. The convergence part of spatial information industry, which cannot be identified in the Spatial Data Industry Survey, was analyzed by exploring keywords related to spatial information using the business DB of Korea Enterprise Data (2010-2019). The convergence of spatial information businesses mainly appeared in the business relationship between the value chain between Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The convergence business has the largest sales in the value chain 2 (utilization, service) & 3 (convergence), and also the convergence in the value chain 1 (production, construction) & 2, 2 & 3 stages has doubled in 2019 compared to 2010. In 2019, the total sales of the spatial information industry based on the Statistical Korea were announced at about 8 trillion won, but in this study, the total sales of the spatial information industry were estimated at 28 trillion won considering convergence activities. Finally, when scenario 1 (0.38% population growth, 2020-2024) and 0.07% (2026-2030) were applied using the SUR model to predict the expected market size of the industry, sales decreased by -0.37% to 0.069% in 2025 and 2030 by respectively. When scenario 2 (average wage growth 1.2%) was applied during the same period, sales in the industry increased by 2.326% to 12.185%. In other words, the sales in the spatial information industry depends on Labor, Total Factor Productivity, and Capital Productivity so it is necessary to additional research on policy development and alternatives of enhancing each productivity.

  • 공간정보는 이제 주요산업의 다양한 분야뿐 아니라 우리의 생활 속에 밀접하게 녹아들어 있는 생활재로서 자리매김하고 있다. 본 발표에서는 현재의 모습을 통해 미래 공간정보의 역할을 가늠해 보고자 한다. 첫째, 현재의 모습을 바라보기 위해 과거 IT 분야 및 메이저 산업 분야에서 지도정보산업과 관련된 M/A 및 주요 비즈니스 활동을 살펴봤다. 둘째, 2000년 IT 버블의 붕괴이후 주요업체의 주가추이와 IT 산업 분야에서 벌어지고 있는 재편 현상의 특정을 정리해 보았다. 셋째 이와 같은 트랜드 속에서 공간정보의 미래가치를 네가지 측면에서 살펴보았으며, 그 선두주자들의 모습을 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 이와 같은 공간정보의 미래가치를 구현하기 위해 무엇을 해야 할지에 대한 필자의 의견을 개진하도록 한다.

Research and development of the V-World packaged goods model for the overseas expansion of the spatial information industry (공간정보산업 해외진출을 위한 공간정보 오픈플랫폼(V-World) 패키지상품 모형 개발 연구)

  • In order to expand the market of the domestic space information industry, which is currently saturated, overseas expansion is essential, but the prospects are limited. Therefore, an effective strategy of overseas expansion is needed. Given the current state of such spatial information industry, V-World is expected to play a very important role. In the world market for space information, in order to ensure the export competitiveness of the domestic space information industry, in the present study, research and development was carried out on the V-World-based packaged goods model as one possible method. First of all, to analyze the current situation and characteristics of the spatial information industry, to grasp V-World as a commodity and derive the relationship between foreign demand and V-World, the sales destinations and methods were defined. To formulate the basic strategy of the fusion-composite package export utilizing V-World on the basis of the basic concept of the product, the necessary components were designed. In response to this fusion-composite package product mix, the overseas promotion of spatial information-related companies it to be expected.

  • The overseas expansion is essential to expand domestic geospatial industries in a state of saturation. But current overseas expansion method has be limited to expand global market. Inter-industry convergence strategies may be the most resonable alternative to expand global market through raising the expansion possibility to developing countries with ODA funds and to developed countries with converging global competitive industries. This research investigates various foreign developed and developing countries to draw each demand. As a result, easiness of convergence, confidentiality of information, complementarity of poor infrastructure, responsiveness of various demands and sustainability of system are needed to successful convergence on multiple industries. This research seeks convergence framework to meet this demands, and suggests each component. This convergence framework is consisted of geospatial convergence common framework, inter-industry convergence model and institutional supporting system for overseas expansion.

  • 최근 IT(Information Technology)산업의 가장 핵심적 키워드는 산업 내 혹은 산업간의 융합화 즉 컨버전스(Convergence)라 할 수 있다. 즉, IT를 매개로 서로 다른 분야의 기술들이 상호 융합되어 새로운 서비스 또는 기술을 제공하는 융합화 현상이 나타나고 있다. 이러한 융합의 핵심에는 유비쿼터스라는 패러다임이 있으며, 유비쿼터스 패러다임은 도시에 대한 새로운 시각을 제공하였다. u-City는 첨단 정보통신 인프라와 유비쿼터스 정보서비스를 도시공간에 융합하여 도시생활의 편의 증대와 삶의 질 향상, 체계적 도시관리에 의한 안전보장과 시민복지 향상, 신산업 창출 등 도시의 제반기능을 혁신시킬 수 있는 차세대 정보화 도시로 정의된다. 성공적인 u-City 건설을 위해선 기존의 지자체GIS 개념을 확대하여 지능형 도시공간정보의 개념이 필요하며, 지능형 도시공간정보를 효율적으로 서비스하기 위한 서비스 표준체계가 필요하다. 즉, u-City의 실질적 구현 및 운영을 위해서는 정보(컨텐츠)가 필요하며. 이를 위해선 도시공간정보의 상호운용성의 확보가 필요한 시점이라 할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 지능형 도시공간정보의 개념과 지능형 도시공간정보 서비스 표준체계를 제시하도록 한다.

  • With the development of information technology, the demand on digitalized space information is being largely expanded in our society. Especially, the recency securing of material as well as various policy alternatives like expansion on an application scope are being required in the spatial information utilization field, such as efficient use and management of the land, various spatial plans, environment and disaster management, etc. The present research aims to suggest an evaluation model by applying the system dynamics theory for dynamic analysis on utilization of this spatial information.
