Integration of Shell Analysis and Surface Modeling (쉘 해석과 곡면 모델링의 연동)

  • The linkage framework of surface geometric modeling based on the NURBS and shell finite element analysis is developed in this study. In the geometrically exact shell finite element analysis, the accuracy of the analysis strongly depends upon the accurate computation of the surface geometric quantities. Therefore if we obtain the necessary geometric quantities from the NVRBS surface equation, it's possible to construct the effective linkage framework of surface modeling in the CAD systems and shell finite element analysis using geometrically exact shell finite element. Besides, the linkage framework can be applied to the analysis of general and complex surfaces as well as simple surfaces. In this study, the shell surfaces are generated by interpolating given set of data points based on the NURBS surfaces. These data points usually can be obtained from surface scanning. But the representations of the generated NURBS surface are not same to one another. The accuracy depends on the chosen parameterization methods used in NURBS. Therefore, it is needed to select the suitable parameterization method according to the geometry of the surfaces. To verify the performance and accuracy of our developed linkage framework, we solve several well-known benchmark problems and assess the performance of the developed method.

A Study on Optimum Shape Finding of Shell-Typed Structures (쉘형 구조물의 최적곡면 탐색에 관한 연구)

  • Shell-typed structures can make resistance to external forces efficiently, and have merits to construct the large-span structures with thin thickness. This merits are highly depending on the shape of structure. Therefore designers want to the optimum shape, but it is not so easy to find the shape. So far there are many schemes to find more optimum shape, and those methods have their own characteristics. In this study, the authors introduce a relatively easy approach to find optimum shape by the finite element method considering geometric nonlinearity. We are finding the optimum shape of a shell-typed structure using line elements, and compared the results by various analytic models.

산악용 자전거 안장의 개발방안

  • 안장은 인체하중이 집중되고, 자전거의 충격과 진동이 직접 전달되는 부위로서 주행 안락도를 높이고 buttock의 discomfort를 감소시킬 수 있도록 설계되어야 한다. 본 연구의 목적은 인체곡면을 본뜬 안장형상 설계를 통하여 buttock의 국부적 discomfort를 감소시키고자 하는 것이다. 인간의 앉은자세에 대한 해부학적 고찰을 통해 좌골결절(Ischial Tuberosity)과 치골결합면(Symphyseal Surface)이 안장과 직접 맞닿는 면으로 파악되었으며, 이들 부위에 대한 집중적 개선이 이루어져야 할 것으로 제안되었다. 문헌조사를 통해 의자설계시 고려해야 할 인체치수 및 지침을 파악하였으며, 안장과 의자의 기능비교를 통해 이를 선별적으로 적용하였다. 인체곡면 측정을 위해 Rod Matrix(3cm 간격, 13*20)방법을 이용하여 10명의 buttock contour를 측정하였으며, 측정된 자료를 분석하여 안장의 곡면형상을 결정하였다. General Comfort Rating, Body Part Discomfort 등의 주관적 안락도 평가방법을 통하여 기존 자전거 안장과 본 연구를 통해 개발된 안장을 비교 평가한 결과, 전반적인 안락도의 향상과 좌골결절 및 치골 결합부의 discomfort 감소효과를 가져온 것으로 파악되었다.

Hourly Rainfall Surface Prediction with Meteorological Radar Data (기상레이더 자료를 이용한 시우량곡면 예측)

  • In this study, a methodology for the hourly prediction of rainfall surfaces was applied to the Pyungchang river basin at the upstream of South Han river with meteorological radar and ground rainfall data. The methods for the exclusion of abnormal echoes, and suppression of ground clutter, and the augmentation of attenuation effects associated with rainfall phenomena were reviewed, and the relationship between radar reflectivity (Z) and rainfall rate (R) was analyzed. The transformation of augmented radar reflectivities into the rdar rainfall surfaces was carried out, and afterward they were synthesized with the ground rainfall data generating the hourly rainfall surfaces. For the prediction of hourly rainfall surface, the moving factors of rainfall field estimated by the cross correlation coefficient method and the temporal variation of radar rainfall intensities were considered. The synthesized hourly rainfall surfaces were used to predict the hourly rainfall surfaces up to 3 hours in advance and subsequently the results were compared with the measured and the synthesized. It seems that the prediction method need to be verified with more data and be complemented further to consider the physical characteristics of rainfall field and the topography of the basin.

  • A new ultralow density material (ULDM) named Shellular was recently introduced. Shellular has a periodic cellular structure with smooth-curved shells. The template for the first Shellular was fabricated using lithography and its shape was similar to the P-surface, a type of triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS). In this paper, a new fabrication method of Shellular with D-surface, named W-Shellular, is described. W-Shellular is fabricated based on weaving of polymer wires. The compressive properties are evaluated by experiments and analysis in comparison with the previous ULDMs.

Performance analysis of sensor selection methods for beam steering direction of non-linear conformal array (비선형 곡면 배열 센서의 빔 지향 방위별 센서 선택 방법에 대한 성능 분석)

  • The conformal array sensor has different sub-array depending on different beam steering directions. According to the method to effective the sensor, the performance of the conformal array sensor can be different, where the sub-array selects an effective sensor. Also, due to the figure of the conformal array sensor, the figure of the sub-array can be different each other, which results in different performance on directivity index, beam width and etc. In this paper, two methods to select sub-array which is the criteria for each sensors position vector and directive vector were proposed. For two sub-array selection methods, the performance of the directivity index, horizontal and vertical beam width were compared with the average and variance. In addition, this comparison was conducted when the number of sensors was fixed. When the number of sensors was not fixed, the directional vector method mainly results in high performance, but the performance of vertical beam width was lower or equal. When the number of sensors was fixed, the performance of two methods is similar, but the performance of variance was deteriorated.

  • 강관 등과 같이 곡면을 이루는 구조물 용접부의 내부 결함을 검출하기 위한 기법을 제안하였다. 인공 결함을 만들어 초음파 비파괴검사를 행하고, 곡면의 표면 거리($Y_s$)를 계산하여 실측한 참값($Y_T$)과 비교해 보았다. 제안된 방법으로 계산한 값이 참값에 대하여 1%이하의 오차 범위에 들어오므로 강관 용접부의 내부 결함 검사에 응용될 수 있다.

  • The intersection problem of three-dimensional free form surfaces can be solved by geometrical and numerical methods. Up to now, the subdivision technique, which is classified under the former, has been largely employed to find the cross section of ship hull form. In this paper, an algorithm is presented for intersecting ship hull form in high speed. The high speed calculation algorithm is based on simple numerical methods, such as the secant method, false position method and bisection method. The algorithm is directly applicable to depicting arbitrary ship cross sections, drawing ship lines and constructing the offset table.

  • 음함수 곡면 모델의 대표적인 구조 요소인 메타볼은 다양한 형태의 곡면을 모델링하는데 뛰어난 성능을 갖는다[1]. 그러나 복잡한 형태의 물체는 곡면 뿐 아니라 평면적인 요소를 포함하기 때문에 메타볼만으로 부정형 물체를 모델링하는 데에는 많은 어려움이 따른다. 메타큐브는 메타볼의 장점을 수용하면서 적은 수의 데이터로 평면 형태의 물체가지 모델링할 수 있는 메타볼의 확장 형태로서, 두 개의 매개변수만으로 구에서 정육면체까지 자유로운 확장이 가능하다[2]. 본 논문은 메타큐브를 이용하여 볼륨 데이터로부터 3차원 물체를 자동 모델링하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안 방법은 볼륨 데이터의 형태에 기반하여 분할된 볼륨 트리를 이용하여 비교적 빠른 시간에 볼륨 데이터로부터 비슷한 형태의 3차원 물체를 재구성하는 메타큐브 집합을 추출한다. 다양한 볼륨데이타에 대한 실험 결과를 제시함으로써 제안 방법의 효용성을 증명한다.

Computation of RCS and TES of Curved Objects Using a Curved-Patch Physical Optics Method (곡면패치 물리광학법을 이용한 곡면체의 RCS 및 TES 계산)

  • Prediction of ship's signature of RCS(Radar Cross Section) and TES(Target Echo Strength) is mostly required in the initial design stage of naval craft, because RCS is directly related to the radar detection while TES to the sonar detection. In this research, a numerical scheme using a curved-patch physical optics method is proposed to evaluate signature of a perfectly reflecting curved object. The scheme is validated by comparing numerical RCS values of circular cylinder, sphere and NACA3317 airfoil with available data. It is also further applied to predict RCS of a surfaced submarine and TES of fully submerged one. Major reflectors of the surfaced or submerged submarine for the various incident angles of radar and sonar waves are investigated as well.
