Separation of Enamel from the Enamel Coated Coper Wires Via High Frequency Induction Process (에나멜코팅된 구리코일로 부터의 친환경적(親環境的) 구리선의 분리(分離))

  • Recently, the recycling with environmentally friendly method has been an issue for various fields. An effective removal method of coating layers from coated copper wires is one critical factor for recycling copper wire. We have adopted a high frequency heating routine for removing the coating layers on the coated copper wires, and attempted to find optimum conditions. The experimental results show that the copper wires should be maintained at or above $950^{\circ}C$ for rapid removal of the polyester. The simulation and experimental results are discussed with respect to the microstrucrual evolution during heating of the copper wires.

  • The technology of seawater desalination has been received much attentions to solve the problem of water shortage through all over the world. In this study, it attempts to confirm the use-possibility of cellulose triacetate (CTA) for preparation of reverse osmosis membranes which have been highlighted as high efficiency and low energy consumption process for seawater desalination. The effects of casting dope parameters like an acetyl content, solvent, additives on the membrane performance were investigated. It was possible to produce the membranes which have high water flow rate and salt rejection with the increase of acetyl content and dioxane content among various dioxane/acetone ratios. Acetic acid and maleic acid were preferred for additives to produce high performance membranes. It was verified that $HOLLOSEP^{(R)}$ module which is commercialized CTA membrane by TOYOBO Co. can produce stable water production and high-quality water for long-term operation in the practice plants without any chemical treatments.

Efficiency Pixel Recomposition Algorithm for Fractional Motion Estimation (부화소 움직임 추정을 위한 효과적인 화소 재구성 알고리즘)

  • In an H.264/AVC video encoder, the motion estimation at fractional pixel accuracy improves a coding efficiency and image quality. However, it requires additional computation overheads for fractional search and interpolation, and thus, reducing the computation complexity of fractional search becomes more important. This paper proposes a Pixel Re-composition Fractional Motion Estimation (PRFME) algorithm for an H.264/AVC video encoder. Fractional Motion Estimation performs interpolation for the overlapped pixels which increases the computational complexity. PRFME can reduce the computational complexity by eliminating the overlapped pixel interpolation. Compared with the fast full search, the proposed algorithm can reduce 18.1% of computational complexity, meanwhile, the maximum PSNR degradation is less than 0.067dB. Therefore, the proposed PRFME algorithm is quite suitable for mobile applications requiring low power and complexity.

  • In-Wheel System is a high-efficiency system to supply a new concept of platform which raises the efficiency of motor drive system and applies it to an environment-friendly automobile by installing a highly efficient electric motor directly to wheels and removing factors of power train. The proliferation of these systems is directly related to the safety of our lives, so check the reliability of the part in the development phase and should be certified. Reliability is the ability of a system or component to perform its required functions under stated conditions for a specified period of time. This paper presents to the verification methods for durability, one of reliability assessments of the Motor, the study calculated acceleration and deceleration torque and the effective torque from driving conditions of In-Wheel Motor, and based on this, it reduced the test time and suggested the verification methods of In-Wheel Motor reliability through the accelerated life test.

  • The proposed converter has easy device selection for high step-up and high power applications since boost half bridge and voltage doubler cells are connected, respectively, in parallel and series in order to increase output power and voltage. Especially, optimized design of high frequency transformers is possible owing to reduced turn ratio and eliminated dc offset, and distributed power through three cores is beneficial to low profile and thermal distribution. The proposed converter does not necessitate start-up circuit and additional clamp circuit due to the use of whole duty range between 0 and 1 and is suitable for applications with wide input voltage range. Also, high efficiency can be achieved since ZVS turn on of switches are achieved in wide duty cycle range and ZCS turn on and off of diodes are achieved. The proposed converter was validated through 5 kW prototype.

  • Fossil fuel causes the greenhouse effect by emitting $CO_2$, and an estimated amount of oil deposits are also limited. Therefore, people have been interested in alternative energies. Vegetable oil which is one of the alternative energies is eco-friendly renewable energy source and has similar properties like diesel oil with high efficiency. Also, vegetable oil has been well recognized as one of solutions to reduce the greenhouse effect caused by $CO_2$release. In this study, we chose Waste vegetable oil(WVO) to solve the problems of high price of grain and lack of food. Impurities and sediments from WVO were removed by separation process using sieves of $15{\mu}m$pore size. Blending was performed in Homo-mixer by 5000 rpm for 10 min. We investigated viscosities and Iodine values in different compositions of WVO and diesel oil blends. Finally, we could find out blended oils have some possibility to be used in the diesel engine.

Enhanced Synthesis of Active rPA in the Continuous Exchange Cell-free Protein Synthesis [CECF] System utilizing Molecular Chaperones (분자 샤페론을 사용한 연속확산식 무세포단백질 발현 시스템에서의 재조합 Plasminogen Activator의 효율적 발현)

  • In this report, we describe that the use of GroEL/GroES-enriched S30 extract remarkably enhances the solubility and enzymatic activity of cell-free synthesized rPA, which requires the correct formation of 9 disulfide bonds for its biological activity. We found that the stable maintenance of redox potential is necessary, but not sufficient for the optimal expression of active rPA. In a control reaction without using additional molecular chaperones, most of the rPA molecules were aggregated almost instantly after their expression and thus failed to exhibit the enzymatic activity. However, by the use of GroEL/GroES-enriched extract, combined with IAM-treatment, approximately $30{\mu}g/ml$ of active rPA was expressed in the cell-free synthesis reaction. This result not only demonstrates the efficient production of complex proteins, but also shows the control and flexibility offered by the cell-free protein synthesis system.

High-Rate Biological Nitrogen Removal from Plating Wastewater using Submerged MBR Packed with Granular Sulfur (황 충진 MBR을 이용한 도금폐수의 고효율 생물학적 질소 제거)

  • In this study, a new submerged membrane bioreactor process packed with granular sulfur (MBR-GS) was operated to identify the biological nitrogen removal behaviors with plating wastewater containing high-strength $NO_3{^-}$ concentration. The continuous denitrification was carried out at $20^{\circ}C$ with various nitrogen loading rates using synthetic wastewater, which composed of $NO_3{^-}$ and $HCO_3{^-}$, but also actual plating wastewater, which was collected from the effluent of the H metal plating company. As a result, high-rate denitrification in the range of $0.8kg\;NO_3{^-}-N/m^3\;day$ was accomplished at nitrogen loading rate of $0.9kg\;NO_3{^-}-N/m^3\;day$ using synthetic wastewater. Also, higher-rate denitrification with actual plating wastewater was achieved up to $0.91kg\;NO_3{^-}-N/m^3\;day$ at the loading rate of $1.11kg\;NO_3{^-}-N/m^3\;day$. Additionally, continuous filtration was possible during up to 30 days without chemical cleaning in the range of 20 cmHg of transmembrane pressure. On the basis of the proposed stoichiometry, ${SO_4}^{2-}$ production could be estimated efficiently, while observed alkalinity consumption was somewhat lower than theoretical value. Consequently, a new process, MBR-GS is capable of high-rate autotrophic denitrification by compulsive flux and expected to be utilized as an alternative of renovation techniques for nitrogen removal from not only plating wastewater but also municipal wastewater with low C/N ratio.

Performance and Operational Characteristics of Natural Gas Fuel Processor for 1kW Class PEMFCs (1kW급 고분자 연료전지용 통합형 천연가스 개질 수소 제조 시스템의 성능 및 운전 특성)

  • 한국에너지기술연구원에서는 가정용 고분자연료전지 열병합 발전시스템을 위한 통합형 천연가스 연료처리 시스템을 개발해 왔다. 가정용 시스템으로서 필수적인 소형화와 고효율을 현실화하기 위해, 연료처리 시스템의 각 단위 공정 즉 수증기 개질, 수성가스 전이, 선택적 산화 공정 등을 이중 동 심관형 반응기에 통합하여 상호 열교환이 용이하도록 반응기를 설계하였다. 현재 시험 운전 중인 Prototype-I 연료 처리 시스템은 1kW급 고분자 연료전지 열병합 발전 시스템에 개질 가스를 공급하기 위해 설계되었으며, 기초 성능은 정격 부하 운전시 열효율 78% (HHV 기준), 메탄 전환율 91%이다. 개질 가스 내 일산화탄소 농도는 고분자 연료전지 전극의 피독을 피하기 위해 10ppm 이하로 유지되어야 하며, Prototype-I 연료 처리 시스템은 백금과 루테늄 촉매를 적용한 선택적 산화 반응기를 통해 개질 가스 내 일산화탄소 농도를 10ppm 이하로 제거하였다. 일반 가정에서는 고분자 연료전지 시스템의 부하 변동이 예상되기 때문에 연료 처리 시스템의 부하 변동 운전 특성도 살펴보았다 정격 부하에서 80%, 60%, 40%로 부하를 변동하며 운전하였고, 각 부하에서 안정한 메탄 전환율과 10ppm이하의 일산화탄소 농도를 보였다. 80%까지는 열효율이 77%로 큰 변화를 보이지 않았으며, 60%에서는 76%, 40%에서는 72%로 열효율이 감소하는 현상을 보였다 연료 처리 시스템의 일일 시동-정지 운전시 내구성을 테스트 중이다. 현재까지 50여회의 일일-시동 정지를 시도하였다 시동 후 약 세 시간가량의 정력 부하 운전을 실시한 후 부하 변동을 실시하였고, 총 운전 시간 8시간 정도 운전한 후 시스템을 정지하였다 메탄 전환율과 일산화 탄소 농도, 열효율을 모니터링 하고 있으며, 현재까지 초기 성능을 그대로 유지하고 있다. 앞으로 일일시동-정지 운전 시험을 지속하면서 초기 시동 특성 및 부하 변동에 따른 응답 특성 개선, 그리고 연료전지와의 연계 운전을 실시할 예정이다

Hybrid Control of Aircraft Landing Gear using Magnetorheological Damper (MR댐퍼를 적용한 항공기 착륙장치의 하이브리드 제어기법 연구)

  • In this study, a hybrid control method that adjusts for the existing force control technique has been presented for consideration. The proposed hybrid control technique does away with the chattering phenomenon occurring in existing force control technique and provides high shock absorption efficiency. In order to design the controller for the landing gear with MR damper, the equation of motion of the landing gear was derived. The hybrid controller was designed after constructing a simulation model using Recur-Dyne, multi-body dynamic analysis software. The hybrid controller can reduce the maximum strut force and displacement based on the skyhook controller, and is able to get the high efficiency by making it work for the additional force control technique. In addition, an effective switching control technique and input shaping technique was applied to prevent the chattering in the drop simulation. Finally, the performance of the landing characteristics was evaluated throughout the various drop simulations.
