A Wireless Access for Vehicular Environment (WAVE) system based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is made for vehicle to vehicle wireless communications. The physical layer standard of the WAVE system is very similar to that of the IEEE802.11a wireless local area network (WLAN). Therefore, the performance of the WAVE system is degraded by continual channel variation in the WAVE multipath fading channels after starting initial channel estimation. In this paper, we research the performance improvement of equalization in 64 Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) transmission in WAVE environment. The proposed algorithms use the training sequence and the midamble sequence which is used for fast channel variation such as WAVE environments. Additionally, various interpolation methods are also used for the channel tracking.

This paper is related with optimum burst structure design for high efficient TDMA satellite return link transmission. In general, some typical burst structure for data transmission is composed of a pair of preamble and traffic data in the DVB-RCS (Digital Video Broadcasting. Return Channel via Satellite) and IPOS (IP over Satellite) standard. This structure has some difficulties to increase spectral efficiency that it requires a large of preamble length, high SNR environment, or receiver complexity. To cope with them, burst structure with distributed pilot symbol can be used to alleviate the residual frequency offset effect by calculating accurate frequency offset than conventional one. In particular, we investigate some relevant to proposed distributed pilot structure, previously and analyze their strong points/drawbacks in terms of synchronization to draw the most appropriate one.

In this paper, we investigate the performance of SMP-assisted 3GPP GERAN evolution system employing high order modulation and turbo coding. When applying the SMP which maps systematic bits into highly reliable bit positions, it is confirmed that there is the performance gain for the modulation and coding schemes of 16QAM(DAS-8) as well as 32QAM(DAS-11) by link level simulation.

Based on the simulation model for phase noise effect, the phase noise performance of communication system using the M-ary APSK modulation method is analyzed in this paper. The phase noise effects for APSK higher order modulation method are modeled by considering the signal constellations of the modulation methods. The simulation model is verified by comparing the analytic results for lower order modulation signals with simulated results for those modulation signals. Based on the simulation model, then, the phase noise effects for M-ary APSK are analyzed. The simulated results for PSK lower order modulation signals are in agreement with the results by the analytic model in the order of 1 %. The proper phase noise effects for M-ary APSK modulation signals are deduced by the simulation model. Also, the required signal-to-noise ratios of phase noise are proposed for phase noise degradations, which are used as the design parameter that considers the phase noise effect.

In a log likelihood ratio(LLR) calculation of the detected symbol, multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) system applying an optimal or suboptimal algorithm such as a maximum likelihood(ML) detection, sphere decoding(SD), and QR decomposition with M-algorithm Maximum Likelihood Detection(QRM-MLD) suffers from exponential complexity growth with number of spatial streams and modulation order. In this paper, we propose a LLR calculation method with very low complexity in the QRM-MLD based symbol detector for a high order modulation based $N_T{\times}N_R$ MIMO system. It is able to approach bit error rate(BER) performance of full maximum likelihood detector to within 1 dB. We also analyze the BER performance through computer simulation to verify the validity of the proposed method.

In this paper we study the effect of bit-to-symbol mappings on the convergence behavior of turbo equalizers employing low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes over high order modulations. We analyze the effective SNR of the outputs from linear minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) equalizers and the convergence property of LDPC decoding for different symbol mappings. Numerical results show that the bit-reliability (BR) mapping provides better performance than random mapping in LDPC-coded turbo equalizers over high order modulations. We also verify the effect of symbol mappings through the noise threshold and error performance.

In recent wireless communication systems such as Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) system, to transmit large multimedia data, high order modulations including 64-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) are adopted. However, performance of the modulation depends on the signal constellation in the same modulation order. Therefore, a symbol error rate (SER) expression of optimal performance is necessary for analyzing the SER performance of various signal constellation. The optimal signal constellation based on error bound has been previously described, but an exact SER expression has not been derived. In this paper, we propose an exact SER expression of optimal signal constellation for 64-ary QAM.

Mobile mobility and data reliability should be guaranteed as well as amounts of data services are essential in the era of smart media. In order to improve the reliability of high-speed data, strong channel coding and modulation techniques are required. In this paper, the structure of Turbo TCM decoder, applying high-order modulation techniques and the DPSAM method which improves performances in time-selective fading channels in the case of burst errors are suggested through the optimal decoding method and iteration decoding so as to improve bandwidth efficiency in Turbo Codes with excellent encoding gain. The proposed method in comparison with the existing method is that 3dB is superior in case that BER is $10^{-2}$ and the number of iterations is 3. In addition, the function is improved at approximately 6dB in case that BER is $10^{-3}$ and the number of iterations is 7. The proposed method requires additional bandwidth; however, the bandwidth loss can be overcome through Turbo TCM technology on the additional bit rate from the bandwidth loss.
In this paper, a channel estimation scheme for high-speed Binary CDMA systems is proposed and its performances are investigated. In high-speed Binary CDMA which adopt high order modulations, since BER(bit error rate) performances are deteriorated when equalizer does not converge enough during preamble period it is preferred to set the optimum coefficients of equalizer through channel estimation. In this paper, taking notice of repetition of CAZAC sequence in preamble period, a channel estimation scheme is proposed, which can improve estimation performances with few complexity increase. From the simulation results, one can see that the proposed channel estimation scheme can be implemented simply with no performance deterioration compared to the conventional one.

또한 채널 오류정정 방식으로 BCH(Bose, Chaudhuri, and Hocquenghem)와 LDPC(Low Density Parity Check) 연접부호를 적용하여, 이로 인한 SNR 성능 이득 통해 4096-QAM 의 고차 변조를 지원한다. 본 논문에서는 최대 192MHz 의 광역 채널로 전송되는 약 2Gbps 의 전송 데이터에 대한 채널 오류 정정을 위해 고속의 LDPC 복호기 구현 방법을 제시한다.
