Theoretical and experimental analysis of the lateral vibration of shafting system using strain gauges in 50,000-DWT oil/chemical tankers (스트레인 게이지를 이용한 5만 DWT 석유화학제품 운반선의 횡진동 분석에 관한 연구)

  • During the initial stage of propulsion shaft design, the shaft alignment process includes a thorough consideration of lateral vibration to verify the operational safety of the shaft. However, a theoretical method for analyzing forced lateral vibrations has not been clearly established. The methods currently used in classification societies and international standards can only ensure a sufficient margin to avoid the blade-passing frequency resonance speed outside the range of ${\pm}20%$ of the maximum continuous rating (MCR) for the engine. Typically, in shaft alignment analyses, longer center distances between the support bearings promote affirmative results, but the blade order resonance speed can approach the lower limit for lateral vibration. Therefore, this matter requires careful attention by engineers, and a verification of the theoretical analysis by experimental measurements is highly desirable. In this study, both theoretical and experimental analyses were conducted using strain gauges under two draught conditions of vessels used as 50,000-DWT oil/chemical tankers, introduced recently as eco-friendly ships. Based on the analyses, the influence of the lateral vibration on the shafting system and the system's reliability was reviewed.

Natural Frequency Measurement for Scour Damage Assessment of Caisson Pier (교량 우물통 기초의 세굴피해 평가를 위한 고유진동수 측정)

  • River scour erodes the soil around the pier, reducing the lateral bearing capacity of the pier and lowering the stability of the structure. In this study, in order to examine the effect of scouring on the stability of the structure, an experiment was performed to measure the natural frequency of the pier according to the excavation of the surrounding ground. Impact vibration test was conducted on the pier with the caisson foundation of the Mangyeonggang Bridge, which is scheduled to be demolished. Accelerometers were attached to the top, center, and bottom of the pier and the acceleration responses were measured by hitting those three points. The experimental results showed that the top hit showed consistent and reasonable results of the acceleration responses according to the hitting position. The measured accelerations were converted to the frequency domain through Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), and then the natural frequency was determined. In addition, to analyze the scour effect on the natural frequency of the pier, the ground around the pier was excavated and the natural frequency change was analyzed. As a result, the natural frequency showed the decreasing tendency according to the excavation depth, but the decrease was small due to the large stiffness of the caisson foundation.

  • In this study, vibrational tendon tension measurement methods are applied to estimate tension of external tendons used in segmental post-tensioned bridges. The acceleration of various length type of tendons is measured and natural frequencies are obtained using FFT (Fast Fourier Transform). The obtained natural frequencies are within 1% error regardless of sensor direction and location. On the basis of natural frequency of tendon, estimation of the tendon tension is performed by using many types of solutions such as string theory equation, multi mode estimation, practical formula estimation and stiff string with clamped-clamped boundary conditions. The results are compared with each other and have shown that the flexural stiffness is not negligible in tendons of this type causing the vibration mode to be inharmonically related. The results have shown that the method using stiff string equation with clamped-clamped boundary conditions is more accurate than the other methods. Application example of in-service bridges has shown that force distribution effects from friction at deviation blocks can be effectively detected.

  • 고유치는 여러 공학문제에서 중요하다. 예를들어 비행기의 안전성은 어떤 행렬(matrix)의 고유 치에 의해서 결정된다. 보의 고유진동수는 실제로 행렬의 고유치이다. 좌굴(buckling) 해석도 행렬의 고유치를 구하는 문제이다. 고유치는 여러 수학적인 문제의 해석에서도 자연히 발생한다. 상수계수 일계연립상미분방정식의 해는 그 계수행렬의 고유치로 구할 수 있다. 또한 행렬의 제곱의 수렬 $A,{\;}A^{2},{\;}A^{3},{\;}{\cdots}$의 거동은 A의 고유치로서 가장 쉽게 해석할 수 있다. 이러한 수렬은 연립일차방정식(비선형)의 반복해에서 발생한다. 따라서 이 강좌에서는 행렬의 고유치를 수치적으로 구하는 문제에 대하여 고찰 하고자 한다. 실 또는 보소수 .lambda.가 행렬 B의 고유치라 함은 영이 아닌 벡터 y가 존재하여 $By={\lambda}y$ 가 성립할 때이다. 여기서 벡터 y를 고유치 ${\lambda}$에 속하는 B의 고유벡터라 한다. 윗식은 또 $(B-{\lambda}I)y=0$의 형으로도 써 줄 수 있다. 행렬의 고유치를 수치적으로 구하는 방법에는 여러 가지 방법이 있으나 그 중에서 효과있는 Danilevskii 방법을 소개 하고자 한다. 이 Danilevskii 방법에 의하여 특 성다항식(Characteristic polynomial)을 얻을 수 있고 이 다항식의 근을 얻는 방법 중에 Bairstow 방법 (또는 Hitchcock 방법)이 있는데 이에 대하여 아울러 고찰하고자 한다.

  • 원자력 발전소의 격납건물은 인위적 또는 자연적 재해로부터 방사능의 외부누출을 방지함으로써 공중을 보호하는 역할을 하기 때문에 지속적인 건전성 확인을 통해 안전을 확보하는 것이 필수적이다. 격납건물의 구조적 건전성 확인은 통상 주기적으로 콘크리트에 대한 비파괴강도, 균열 및 중성화, 프리스트레스 텐던의 유효 긴장력 등의 측정을 통해 수행되고 있으나, 이러한 검사는 국부적인 건전도 정보만을 제공할 뿐 격납건물과 같은 대형 구조물 전체의 건전성에 대한 신뢰성 있는 평가 결과를 얻는데 많은 시간과 경비가 소요된다는 단점이 있다. 이러한 단점은 최근 구조물 전체의 상태를 평가하는 방법으로 주목받고 있는 구조건전성모니터링(Structural Health Monitoring, SHM)기법을 이용하여 극복할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 실제 운전 중인 격납건물을 대상으로 상시진동 측정을 수행하였으며, SHM 기법의 기초자료로 활용될 수 있는 동적특성, 즉 격납건물의 고유진동수와 모드형상을 제시하였다.

  • This paper provides an analysis using statistical method on the basis of database (DB) of bridge inspection reports performed by KISTEC from 1995 to 2007. Measured impact factors of total 36 railway bridges were classified by the span length, type of bridges and natural frequency. The fundamental frequency and the impact factors of inspected bridge are compared with formulas specified in both domestic and foreign railway bridge design codes.

  • The Paper presents three methods for calculating the natural frequencies of cantilevered curved Beams. A summary is given of the development of two techniques: theoretic value and the result of the experiment. Theoretic value of curved beam vibration analysis are derived from complementary variational principles assuming as unknown stress-displacement result fields.   • 이 논문은 step기둥의 자유진동 및 좌굴하중에 관한 연구이다. 축하중을 받는 변단면 기둥의 자유진동을 지배하는 편미분방정식을 이용하여 축하중을 받는 step기둥의 자유진동을 지배하는 상미분방정식을 유도하였다. 또한 이 자유진동을 지배하는 미분방정식을 이용하여 step기둥의 좌굴하중을 지배하는 상미분방정식을 유도하였다. 유도된 미분방정식들을 Heun방법과 Regula-Falsi방법을 이용하여 고유진동수 및 좌굴하중을 산출할 수 있는 수치해석방법을 개발하였다. 실제 수치해석 예에서는 2개의 step구간을 갖는 회전-회전, 회전-고정, 고정-고정 기둥에 대한 무차원 고유진동수화 무차원변수들과의 관계 및 무차원 좌굴하중과 무차원 변수들과의 관계를 그림에 나타내었다.

  • In this study, we measured the natural frequencies of aluminum honeycomb sandwich beams using digital image correlation technique. The vibration images were captured using two high speed digital cameras and the images were converted to displacements by the digital image correlation technique. Displacement data in time domain were tranformed to frequency domain data by fast Fourier transform software. To reduce noise invoked by random exitation, a spectrum averaging technique and Savitsky-Golay digital filter were adopted. A conventional vibration measurement using an accelerometer and a finite element analysis were performed to compare the results by high speed digital camera measurement method. In conclusion, new method using high speed digital cameras and digital image correlation technique can measure the vibration of beam structures and can be applied to bio-structures where sensors cannot be attached.

  • The natural frequencies and mode shapes of a system composed of subsystems on a supporting structure have been derived approximately. The system is modeled as a discrete system, and it is assumed that the masses of subsystems are much smaller than the mass of a supporting structure. It has been found that the fundamental frequency corresponds to the supporting structure, and each higher frequency corresponds to each subsystem. A relation between the vibration amplitudes of the supporting structure and subsystems is also derived for the case when the supporting structure is excited by a harmonic force.
