  • Objective : This experimental study was carried out to investigate the effects of Persicae Semen(PS) and Caesalpiniae Lignum(CL) on the intravascular coagulation which is considered as thrombosis. Methods : Rats were pretreated orally with PS and CL extracts(PS: 8.45mg/100g, CL: 4.4mg/100g), and 1 hour later, to induce thrombosis, were given an endotoxin(0.01mg/100g) injection into the caudal vein. After 4hours we collected blood by cardiac puncture and measured the platelet count, the prothrombin time, the level of fibrinogen and the FDP(fibrinogen degradation product). Results : PS and CL supressed the decrease of the Platelet count and the prolongation of prothrombin time. In these factors, both groups showed significant effect. Both groups supressed the decrease of the fibrinogen level and the increase of the FDP level. But, only the PS group showed a significant effect on the fibrinogen level, and only the Cle CL group showed a significant effect on FDP level. Conclusions : PS had significant effects on the platelet count, the prothrombin time, and the FDP level. CL had significant effects on the platelet count, the prothrombin time, and the fibrinogen level. Therefore, PerSicae Semen and Caesalpiniae Lignum seem to be applicable to treating the diseases related to thrombosis.

  • If there are problems for us to sleep, we are faced with fatigue and dizziness in the day. Snoring and OSAS (obstructive sleep apnea syndrome) during sleeping are the main cause of sleep disorder. Treatments through surgical method and sleep splint can be performed to treat snoring and OSAS. Relapse of snoring and OSAS is common after treatment by surgical method. But, Recently sleep splint is frequently applied to treat snoring and OSAS with surgical treatment, because it is convenient and conservative. Sleep splint treat snoring and OSAS by ensuring airway through nose. As first step of fabrication occlusal bite is gained at a point that patient get feeling of increased nasal breathing in supined position, and next, the bite is transfered to sleep splint. This study surveyed the effect of sleep splint by questionnaire to the out-patients (the Dept. of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Chonbuk National University Hospital) weared sleep splint and their partners, secondarily measured airflow through nose by aerophone II after wearing sleep splint and finally evaluated the effect of treatment of snoring and OSAS by sleep splint. The obtained result were as follows; 1. Though 'sleep splint' couldn't eliminate fundamental problems of snoring, it could improve the symptoms when patients were selected could using the 'Nakagawa's respiration method'. 2. Patients who used the sleep splint could breathe stably when patients are sleeping stably. Wearing a 'sleep splint' improved airflow by expanding the upper airway. 3. Even though sleep splint can be made with variable materials, the patients expressed the most satisfaction on the splint with '0.75mm hard shell'. 4. The 'Herbst' may allows the mandible to move the TMJ to relax. Nevertheless, some patients experienced a discomfort or irritation. 5. In Snoring and OSAS cases, it is recommended that patients should first explore non-surgical options prior to choosing a surgical treatment.

  • In the main target area of the block II, Targe-scale faults occur below the unconformity developed around 1 km in depth. The contrast of seismic velocity around the unconformity is generally so large that the strong multiples and the radical velocity variation would deteriorate the quality of migrated section due to serious distortion. More than 15 kinds of data processing techniques have been applied to improve the image resolution for the structures farmed from this active crustal activity. The bad and noisy traces were edited on the common shot gathers in the first step to get rid of acquisition problems which could take place from unfavorable conditions such as climatic change during data acquisition. Correction of amplitude attenuation caused from spherical divergence and inelastic attenuation has been also applied. Mild F/K filter was used to attenuate coherent noise such as guided waves and side scatters. Predictive deconvolution has been applied before stacking to remove peg-leg multiples and water reverberations. The velocity analysis process was conducted at every 2 km interval to analyze migration velocity, and it was iterated to get the high fidelity image. The strum noise caused from streamer was completely removed by applying predictive deconvolution in time space and ${\tau}-P$ domain. Residual multiples caused from thin layer or water bottom were eliminated through parabolic radon transform demultiple process. The migration using curved ray Kirchhoff-style algorithm has been applied to stack data. The velocity obtained after several iteration approach for MVA (migration velocity analysis) was used instead or DMO for the migration velocity. Using various testing methods, optimum seismic processing parameter can be obtained for structural and stratigraphic interpretation in the Block II, Yellow Sea Basin.

  • The objective of this study was to identify the effect of lumbar lordotic curve adjustment on head and neck posture in older adults. Methods Twenty healthy older participants (mean age 71.32) were photographed while watching monitor in sitting with or without lumbar roll support(length 28cm, diameter 10cm). The upper cervical angle and lower cervical angle were measured using the NIH ImageJ 1.32. Comparisons between upper and lower cervical angle with or without lumbar roll support were made using paired-t test analysis. Results Subjects demonstrated a significant difference in the mean upper and lower cervical angle. Mean difference of the upper cervical angle was about $2.83^{\circ}$ with and without lumbar roll support(p<0.005). Mean difference of the lower cervical angle was about $4.44^{\circ}$ with and without lumbar roll support(p<0.0001). Conclusions This study showed that healthy older adults demonstrated more ability to maintain an upright posture of cervical spine during lumbar lordotic curve maintenance with lumbar roll support than without lumbar roll support. When the clinicians consider improvement of the head and neck posture in older adults, they must incorporate adjustment in the lumbar region.

  • This study was attempted to investigate reliability and validity of premenstrual assessment form(PAF). PAF was administered to 230 high school students who had reported premenstrual changes. PAF revealed considerable diversity in premenstrual symtom changes of the subjects. The items with most frequent reported premenstrual changes were 21 items out of 95. Cronbach's internal consistency was .95, and test-retest reliability was .80. Validity test was performed by constructional validation analysis. 8 factors(impulsive & unstable factor, depressive factor, withdrawal & social functioning impairment factor, anxiety & cognitive dysfunction factor, physiological factor, general discomfort factor, increased well-being factor, other factor) emerged at factor analysis. Each of them accounted for 33.97, 5.10, 3.70, 2.93, 2.64, 2.46, 2.12, 2.03 of total variance respectively. High school students experienced impulsive & unstable features of premenstrual symptoms more frequently. This study suggests PAF can be a reliable and valid tool as a initial screening and evaluation of premenstrual changes. finally, factor analysis result was compared with PAF typological categories.

  • Estimating the correct pose of augmented objects on the real camera view efficiently is one of the most important questions in image tracking area. In computer vision, Homography is used for camera pose estimation in augmented reality system with markerless. To estimating Homography, several algorithm like SURF features which extracted from images are used. Based on extracted features, Homography is estimated. For this purpose, RANSAC algorithm is well used to estimate homography and DCS-RANSAC algorithm is researched which apply constraints dynamically based on Constraint Satisfaction Problem to improve performance. In DCS-RANSAC, however, the dataset is based on pattern of feature distribution of images manually, so this algorithm cannot classify the input image, pattern of feature distribution is not recognized in DCS-RANSAC algorithm, which lead to reduce it's performance. To improve this problem, we suggest the KCS-RANSAC algorithm using K-means clustering in CS-RANSAC to cluster the images automatically based on pattern of feature distribution and apply constraints to each image groups. The suggested algorithm cluster the images automatically and apply the constraints to each clustered image groups. The experiment result shows that our KCS-RANSAC algorithm outperformed the DCS-RANSAC algorithm in terms of speed, accuracy, and inlier rate.

  • We found an unrecorded species, Carex molestiformis Reznicek & Rothrock, in Byeokparyeong, Daehwa-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do, South Korea. This species is native to southern parts of the United States (ca. 11 states, including Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma). These plants are usually distributed densely in stream flood plains, bottomlands, stream banks, and along roadsides. Belonging to section Ovales Kunth, perennial herbs with gynecandrous spikes, C. molestiformis is closely related to C. maackii Maxim. and C. scoparia Willd. and is distinguished from them by the number (2-4) of spikes in each inflorescence and the width (2.63.4 mm) and number (69) of veins of perigynia. A new Korean name of C. molestiformis 'Ga-Neun-Ta-Rae-Sa-Cho' was given, as it has slender overall appearance compared with C. maackii (Ta-Rae-Sa-Cho). We also provide a description, illustrations, photographs and a key of related taxa in Korea. We compared three DNA barcode region (chloroplast DNA matK, ndhF and nuclear ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacer) sequences from C. molestiformis with those of C. maackii and C. scoparia, determining eight species-specific single nucleotide polymorphism sites for C. molestiformis.

  • Some factors affecting mycelial growth of Pleurotus sajor-caju and P. ostreatus. were investigated. The optimal temperature and pH of the medium for mycelial growth of both the species were $25^{\circ}C$ to $30^{\circ}C$, and 5 to 6, respectively. The effect of carbon and nitrogen sources on mycelial growth of the species was studied using modified Waksman's special medium as the basal medium. Generally, the disaccharides and polysaccharides showed good effect for mycelial growth of P. sajor-caju, and the polysaccharides were superior to the other classes of carbon sources for mycelial growth of P. ostreatus. Generally the organic nitrogen compounds showed good mycelial growth of both the species. The mycelial growth of the species were favored by the ammonium nitrogen more than by the nitrate nitrogen source. Asparagine was superior to the other kinds of amino acid. Six percentage of glucose and 0.6% ammonium tartarate was optimum for mycelial growth of P. sajor-caju whereas the optimum concentration for the P. ostreatut was 4% glucose and 0.4% ammonium tatarate.

  • Effects of incompatibility existing between intra-and interspecies in Pleurotus spp. on protoplast fusion, clamp formation of their fusants and fruitbody production were investigated. Protoplast fusion between intra-and interspecies of the fungus was achieved by Poly ethylene glycol treatment. The fusion frequency between intraspecies was a little higher than that of interspecies. Fusion frequency between interspecies was not correlated with their similarities based on isozyme patterns. In case of protoplast fusion between intra-and interspecies, the fusants from the compatible isolates produced normal fruit bodies, while those from the incompatible isolates did not produce clamp connections and fruit bodies except those of a few isolates presumed mutants.
