Robust Blind- Video Watermarking against MPEG-4 Scalable Video Coding and Multimedia Transcoding (MPEG-4 스케일러블 비디오 코딩 및 멀티미디어 트랜스코딩에 강인한 블라인드 비디오 워터마킹)

  • A blind video watermarking scheme for providing safety, authenticity, and copyright protection is proposed in this paper, which is robust to MPEG-4 SVC and multimedia transcoding. In proposed method, embedding and detecting of watermark is performed based on base layer with considering spatial SVC. To be robust from temporal SVC, our method embeds repeatedly a permutated character with ordering number per one frame. Also for robustness from multimedia transcoding and FGS, the method is embedded watermark in low middle frequency of each frame adaptively based on DCT in ROI. Through experimental results, invisibility of the watermark is confirmed and robustness of the watermark against the spatial SVC, temporal SVC, FGS and video transcoding between MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 SVC is also verified.

  • 현재 인터넷의 구조적 문제점을 해결 하기 위한 미래 인터넷 연구는 컨텐츠 기반의 네트워크를 대상으로 하고 있다. 컨텐츠 중심의 네트워크(CCN)에서는 중계 노드가 컨텐츠 데이터를 저장 하고 있다. 하지만 사용자의 환경에 적합한 컨텐츠를 보내기 위해서는 트랜스코딩 과정이 필요 하다. 우리는 이 과정의 오버헤드를 줄이기 위하여 비디오 컨텐츠를 단계별로 계층화 시킬 수 있는 H.264/SVC 코덱을 사용하여, CCN 의 중계 노드에서 사용자 환경에 맞추어 다른 계층의 비디오 컨텐츠 전송을 가능 하게 하는 기법을 제시한다.

  • In this paper, we propose a real time QoS(Quality of Service) guaranteed transmission mechanism for MPEG video traffic at the congested node in IP based networks. Recent spread of the Internet has increased the demands of a real time multimedia service of the quality, Because the type of Internet services can, however, offer the best effort delivery strategies, it is difficult to treat all the types of traffic with differential COS (Class of Service). Most of all, the hierarchical coding method of MPEG data utilizes the reference frame for the motion prediction. The loss of the reference frames makes QoS of the video traffic degraded because the reference frame bit error causes the consecutive packet loss. Therefore we have studied the real time QoS guaranteed mechanism for video traffic by analyzing the previous methods. Computer simulation results show that the proposed scheme has better performance than the previous one.

QARA: Quality-Aware Rate Adaptation for Scalable Video Multicast in Multi-Rate Wireless LANs (다중 전송율 무선랜에서의 스케일러블 비디오 멀티캐스트를 위한 품질 기반 전송 속도 적응 기법)

  • Wireless multicast service can be used for video streaming service to save the network resources by sending the same popular multimedia contents to a group of users at once. For better multimedia streaming multicast service, we propose a quality-aware rate adaptation (QARA) scheme for scalable video multicast in rate adaptive wireless networks. In QARA, transmission rate is determined depending on the content's type and users' channel conditions. First, the base layer is transmitted by a low rate for high reliability. That means we provide basic service quality to all users. On the contrary, the transmission rate for enhancement layer is adapted by using channel condition feedback from a randomly selected node. So, the enhancement layer frames in a multimedia content is sent with various transmission rates. Therefore, each node can be provided with differentiated quality services. Consequently, QARA is capable of serving heterogeneous population of mobile nodes. Moreover, it can utilize network resources more efficiently. Our simulation results show that QARA outperforms utilization of the available transmission rate and reduces the data transmission time.

  • 지상파 방송(DMB: Digital Multimedia Broadcasting)은 음성, 영상, 데이터와 같은 다양한 멀티미디어 신호를 디지털 방식으로 변조하여 이동 중에 방송을 청취 할 수 있는 차세대 디지털방송 서비스이다. 하지만 한정된 대역폭으로 인한 비디오 전송율의 한계에 따라 최대 CIF(Common Interleaved Frame)급 화면해상도까지 서비스가 가능하다. 그러나 지상파 DMB 전송 고도화망에서는 계층 변조(Hierarchical Modulation)전송 기법을 통하여 추가의 전송대역폭을 확보할 수 있다. 또한 스케일러블 비디오 코딩(Scalable Video Coding)부호화 방식을 이용하여 고전송효율/고품질의 이동 멀티미디어 방송서비스를 제공할 수 있는 고품질 AT(Advanced Terrestrial)-DMB 시스템이 가능하다. 이러한 고품질 AT-DMB의 개발에 있어서 여러 방식들이 제시됨에 따라 시뮬레이터를 통한 다중화 시스템의 분석이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 고품질 AT-DMB가 가능한 스케일러블 비디오 방식을 JM8.8을 사용하여 구현하였으며, 다중화 시스템의 실험을 하였다. 또한 시뮬레이터를 통하여 확보된 계층 간의 화질 차이와 엔지니어를 위해 비트스트림의 분석화면 및 PSNR을 제공 하였다.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive video signal transmission scheme in order to ensure the QoS (Quality of Service) of user requirements. SVC (Scalable Video Coding) is an effective transmission scheme, because that can transmit video signal according to the video layer's weight. However, in previous works, those adaptive transmission systems which are considered about the various channel environments and user requirements have not been insufficiently studied. So, we propose the SVC signal transmission using inter-layer differential OVSF code allocation scheme in MC-CDMA. The proposed scheme is able to obtain each layer signal's protection order and control the sub-block of MC-CDMA by feedback information from receiver. Therefore, our proposed scheme is possible to provide the video quality for each users according to variable channel environments. The simulation results demonstrate the enhancement of proposed system in terms of BER performance.

Fast Mode Decision Algorithm for Scalable Video Coding (SVC) Using Directional Information of Neighboring Layer (스케일러블 비디오 코딩에서 방향성 정보를 이용한 모드 결정 고속화 기법)

  • As Scalable Video Coding (SVC) is a video compression standard extended from H.264/AVC, it is a way to provide scalability in terms of temporal, spatial and quality. Although the compression efficiency of SVC is increased due to the scalability in many aspect, it is essential to reduce the complexity in order to efficiently use because the complexity is relatively increased. To reduce the complexity of SVC in the paper, we propose fast mode decision algorithm to reduce the complexity of encoding process using direction information of B-picture by efficiently performing inter-layer prediction. The proposed algorithm is a fast mode decision algorithm that makes different from detection mode number of forward and backward, bi-direction in the way using best mode of base-layer up-sampled after simply SKIP mode detection using the direction information of best mode of base-layer up-sampled. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm approach can achieve the maximum computational time saving about 53% with almost no loss of rate distortion (RD) performance in the enhancement layer.

An improvement in FGS coding scheme for high quality scalability (고화질 확장성을 위한 FGS 코딩 구조의 개선)

  • FGS (fine granularity scalability) supporting scalability in MPEG-4 Part 2 is a scalable video coding scheme that provides bit-rate adaptation to varying network bandwidth thereby achieving of its optimal video quality. In this paper, we proposed FGS coding scheme which performs one more bit-plane coding for residue signal occured in the enhancement-layer of the basic FGS coding scheme. The experiment evaluated in terms of video quality scalability of the proposed FGS coding scheme by comparing with FGS coding scheme of the MPEG-4 verification model (VM-FGS). The comparison was conducted by analysis of PSNR values of three tested video sequences. The results showed that when using rate control algorithm VM5+, the proposed FGS coding scheme obtained Y, U, V PSNR of 0.4 dB, 9.4 dB, 9 dB averagely higher and when using fixed QP value 17, obtained Y, U, V PSNR of 4.61 dB, 20.21 dB, 16.56 dB averagely higher than the existing VM-FGS. From results, we found that the proposed FGS coding scheme has higher video quality scalability to be able to achieve video quality from minimum to maximum than VM-FGS.

Channel-Adaptive Streaming Scheme to Guarantee Media Quality in Mobile WiMAX (모바일 와이맥스에서 채널 적응적인 미디어 품질 보장 기법)

  • Mobile WiMAX does not guarantee the media qualities because it does not consider the characteristics of video coding techniques. In this paper, PC-MCA(Priority-based Combining adaptive Modulation and Coding with ARQ), a priority based channel-adaptive streaming scheme, is proposed to guarantee media qualities. PC-MCA uses QoS scheduler by scheduling priority of the media and differentially controls modulation and coding schemes according to wireless channel condition and frame priorities. It also guarantees multimedia service quality through video decoding reliability.
