  • An experiment was conducted at the Yeongnam Crop Experiment Station to obtain basic informations about cultural techniques for high yield by manipulating plant spacing in association with seedling number. Cultivars showing relatively low competition index within or between rice hill were Palgongbyeo, Milyang 83. Milyang 90 and Sangpungbyeo, while those with high competition index were Pungsanbyeo, Samgangbyeo, Weongpungbyeo, Taebaegbyeo and Dongjinbyeo. Variations of agronomic characters such as culm length, spikelets per panicle, grain yield per panicle among each culm within hill were not interrelated among the characters. This phenomenon was also same within and between cultivar groups. However, cultivars having high competitive ability showed relatively low variation in agronomic characters. There was a trend that most of rice cultivars had a high positive correlation between total competition index and rice grain yield. Competition index between rice hill was more significant than that of within rice hill for Tongil type cultivars except Milyang 83 which belonged to low tillering capacity while both types of competition index within and between hill were important for Japonica type cultivars and Milyang 83 of Tongil type cultivar to increase rice yield.

  • This fMRI study is aim to investigate effects of competitive environment in cognitive empathic process in human brain. Empathy is known as a crucial factor for human's adaptive behavior in aspects of social cognition and it is almost automatic process, on the other hand competitive situation is psychologically devastated environment to win someone for getting rewards. We hypnotized that reading and understanding of other person's mind are a specific characteristic related to survival evolutionarily, however competition would have an effect on the empathic cognitive process because of mechanisms of competition. To manipulate the competitive atmosphere, one researcher took a role of competitor against participants and they were instructed to get monetary rewards when their performance was better than a competitor. 21 participants(9 males and 12 females) performed to judge the emotional valence of the empathic task consisted of illustrated images with various situation could be experienced in real world as on $1^{st}$ person perspective in both competitive and non-competitive condition, and did same performance with objects stimulus in control condition. In order to examine the competition effects on empathic process,, hemodynamic response were obtained during fMRI session and the imaging data were analyzed to identify brain regions where responses to each condition across the two consecutive runs. Participants' reaction time in competitive condition was faster statistically significant than non-competitive one. Activation for competitive condition increased in the following areas: ACC, mPFC, SMG, thalamus extended caudate and Nacc, parahippocampal gyrus, and for non-competitive condition increased paracingulate gyrus, temporal pole, vmPFC, superior occipital gyrus. As a result of regression analysis using empathic scores as covariance, the rSMG, IFG, fusiform gyrus, thalamus, putamen were correlated with higher empathic levels, and TPJ were correlated with lower empathic scores. We suggest that these observations could mean competitive environment have an effect on neural base of cognitive empathic process.

  • Batch experiments were performed to evaluate the effect of sulfate reduction on methane production and reductive dechlorination, both compete for hydrogen with sulfate reduction. Dechlorination was inhibited by sulfate reduction at lower hydrogen concentration because their threshold values for hydrogen are similar (2 nM). Unlike methane production mainly inhibited transformation of cDCE to ethene, sulfate reduction inhibited the initial dechlorination step, PCE reduction into cDCE as well as cDCE dechlorination. The presence of sulfate eliminated methanogens as hydrogen competitor because of its high threshold value of 10 nM. When sulfate coexisted with PCE, dechlorination efficiency was not affected by the increase of seed concentration as both dechlorination and sulfate reduction were stimulated simultaneously by the increased seeding culture.

  • HMO correlation diagrams for some competing 1,2-and 1,4-cycloaddition reactions have been made to elucidate the reaction mechanism. The main conclusions obtained from this study are as follows. 1) The crossing between the highest occupied molecular orbital and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital was not observed, which indicates that the reaction proceeds thermally, in agreement with the experimental results. 2) From the consideration of the energy barrier in the process of the energy transformation going from reactants to product, the two-step mechanism via a diradical intermediate is preferred over the concerted one. 3) The existance of diradical intermediates can account for the observed product distributions.

  • This paper investigates an oil refiner's asymmetric behavior in the adjustments of gasoline and diesel prices to changes in his own price and his rivals' prices as well as input costs. An asymmetric error correction model which allows a firm's pricing behavior to the deviation of other firms' prices from their long-run equilibrium level is employed for estimation using weekly data for the period April 2009 to January 2015. Evidence is found that there is a significant degree of asymmetry in the adjustment of wholesale prices to changes in crude oil price. A similar result in regard to the exchange rate is also found by the data. The estimation results for firm's response to changes in other firms' prices indicates that implicit collusion could be more easily exploited in the wholesale petroleum market as results of firms' interaction with each other and anticipation of rivals' pricing behavior. A few refiners show competitive price adjustment in response to the upward deviation of the others' prices from their equilibrium level.

  • 2-Furyltriisopropoxytitanium was synthesized in situ through transmetallation of 2-furyllithium with chlorotitaniumtriisopropoxide. The compound could be isolated at room temperature and preserved at $-10^{\circ}C$ for several weeks. The reactivity 2-furyltriisopropoxytitanium to carbonyl compounds proved to be high. A complete aldehyde selectivity was observed in competition reactions of 2-furyltriisopropoxytitanium with a 1:1 mixture of aldehyde and ketone. In competition reactions of 2-furyltriisopropoxytitanium with a 1 : 1 mixture of ketone and ketone, the degree of ketone / ketone discrimination was substantial. In the reaction of 2-furyltriisopropoxytitanium to ketone-ester function, the reagent was solely reacted with the ketone function.

  • An experiment was conducted at the Yeongnam Crop Experiment Station to obtain basic informations about cultural techniques for high yielding by manipulating plant spacing using two rice cultivars, Samgangbyeo (Indica/Japonica type) and Nakdongbyeo (Japonica type), and four plant spacings, 10${\times}$10cm, 20${\times}$20cm 30${\times}$30cm and 40${\times}$40cm, with 4 kinds of seedling number per hill, 1,3,5 and 7, respectively. High photosynthetic efficiency (Eu) exhibited at the Samgangbyeo compared to Nakdongbyeo regardless of plant spacings and seedling numbers. For Samgangbyeo, Eu value was the highest at the 20${\times}$20cm plant spacing and five seedlings and seven seedlings per hill showed high Eu values at 10${\times}$10cm plant spacing and 20${\times}$20cm plant spacing, respectively, while other plant spacings were not significantly differed among seedling numbers. For Nakdongbyeo, however, one seedling plot obtained high Eu value at the 10${\times}$10cm plant spacing while this Eu value increased as the seedling number per hill increased in other plant spacings. There was a high positive correlation between rice grain yield and total competition index for both cultivars while kind of relationships differed in these two cultivars; linear relationship for Samgangbyeo and exponential relationship for Nakdongbyeo, respectively. Competition index between rice hill was more significant than within rice hill for Samgangbyeo while both competition indexs were important for Nakdongbyeo to increase rice yield.
