  • 코로나19 이후 글로벌 물류대란, 우크나이나 전쟁으로 시작된 글로벌 이슈가 부산을 비롯한 글로벌 선진 해운도시의 경쟁력에 미치는 영향을 객관적으로 살펴보기 위한 평가도구의 필요성이 꾸준히 제기되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 글로벌 해운도시의 경쟁력과 잠재력을 평가하는 해운도시경쟁력지수를 개발하기 위한 기초연구의 토대를 제공코자 한다.

Competitiveness Index of Regional Economy and the Characteristics of Regional Growth in Knowledge Economy: The Case of SCI(State Competitiveness Index) (지식기반경제에 있어 지역경제의 경쟁력 지표와 지역성장의 특성: 미국의 SCI사례를 중심으로)

  • This paper analyzed the effects the regional competitiveness index on the characteristics of the regional growth. This study divides the regions in the US based on the static and dynamic standard of income for the characteristics of the regional growth. The results of the analysis are as follows. First some regions such as Alaska, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Virginia, Washington and Wyoming have higher levels of SCI and both the rate of growth and per capita income than the national average. These are considered prosperous regions based on their high level of SCI. Second, in regards to the relation between the income level and regional competitiveness index for the regional growth, the variables such as human resource, science technology, business incubation, openness, safety and environmental policy are significant. Third, infrastructure, human resource, science technology and openness are the significant variables concerning the relation between the rate of income growth and regional competitiveness index for the regional growth.

  • Climate change and related policies and regulations influence the performance of the firms in various ways. Climate change influences corporate competitiveness through physical impacts, GHG regulations, changes in asset values, demand shift, etc. Therefore, corporate competitiveness could be maintained by reducing vulnerability to climate change and adapting to new circumstances. Without effective responses to the challenges, the firms would have difficulties in maintaining their competitiveness in the market and the cost of national economy will significantly increase as well. Even though it seems fairly easy to understand the meaning of competitiveness, deriving the driving forces of and measuring changes in competitiveness are complicated and disputable processes. A common way to overcome it is to develop a 'competitiveness index'. The objective of this study is to derive the main factors influencing corporate competitiveness related to climate change and develop 'competitiveness index' reflecting those factors. The index will make contribution to enhance the response capacity of the firms to climate change and increase the effectiveness of climate change policies for the industry by providing a quantitative tool to measure the changes in corporate competitiveness related to climate change.

The Development Directions of U-City Competitiveness Index

  • This study ultimately aims to suggest directions for development of U-City Competitiveness Index through thorough analyses of U-City competitiveness concepts and previous research in U-City-related index. In an attempt to reach the aforementioned goals, the concept of U-City competitiveness is presented based on existing publications on informatization age, future city, and U-City. Next, insights on the development of U-City Competitiveness Index are provided via analysis of research on indices regarding U-City and future city. Finally, the process of developing UCity Competitiveness Index and cautionary comments for each developmental step has been provided. Based on the research results, U-City competitiveness refers to the ability to respond to demands of residents in a timely manner as well as to manage U-City, ICT, U-City infrastructure, and U-City services that maximizes the efficiency of urban space management. In order for proper assessment of these criteria, development of assessment tools, selection of indices, standardization, allocation of weight per index, and construction of assessment framework are required.

  • Korea-Japan trade has been trade deficit for a long time and therefore this matter must be a settled urgently for continuous economic growth of Korea. For reasons mentioned above, this study pays attention to Japan materials industry which has induced trade deficit in the Korea-Japan trade and this study analyzed competitiveness of Japan materials industry in the Korea market. This study special regard will be paid to the Compound and Chemical Products in Japan materials industry. For attaining the purpose of study, we collected related statistical data and Market Share Index, Trade Specialization Index and Market Comparative Advantage Index used in study methodology From this analysis, we found that most of Japan material products have competitiveness in Korea market and chemical products used in photography & photo sensitized materials, paint & printing ink products particularly have very strong competitiveness in Korea Market.

  • In this study, we performed an empirical research on how cultural power affects soft power as one of the elements of National Power. To fully exert the force of cultural power, appropriate level of "resources for power" need to be disseminated into cultural elements. Utilization of these resources need to appropriately developed and produced in quality and quantity when needed. This activity should be ensured with "composite support competence"; which is the combination of support organizations and their potentials. Indicators of cultural power includes society favorability rating, cultural favorability rating, E&D industry competitiveness index, and T&T competitiveness index. According to analysis of cultural power by each country, cultural industry (E&D) competitiveness index and travel and tourism (T&T) competitiveness index shows relatively high correlation. This research aims to analyze the "cultural power as soft power" of South Korea, China and US, and how they are different and how their resources of power are represented in their E&D and T&T competitiveness.

Competitiveness Comparison between Korea and Japan in the Spectacles Industry (한국과 일본 안경산업의의 경쟁력 비교)

  • Purpose: The aims of this paper are to assess the competitiveness about the spectacles industry of Korea against Japan. Methods: We use export competitiveness indexes such as market share index, trade specialization index and market comparative advantage index to evaluate the competitiveness of spectacles industry of Korea against Japan. Results: This paper shows that the comparative advantage of the Spectacles industry of Korea in MC(market comparative advantage) against Japan arc spectacles lenses and contact lenses. Furthermore, it can also be known that the spectacles lenses and contact lenses have export competitiveness in the TSI (trade specialization index) against Japan. Conclusions: We need to choose spectacles lenses and contacts lenses as the main export items against Japan in the spectacles industry of Korea. Along with this, we need to improve the image of the Spectacles industry in Korea; after that, we have to create a strategy that would strengthen export competition in other items.

  • This paper estimated the technical specialization of UAV system by analyzing related patents. For that, variable indicators such as patent numbers regarding country, subsystem technic, periods and revealed number of patents are used in this paper. RPA and PII index are also used to estimate technical specialization of the coutry. Positive RPA value means superior competitiveness, and vice versa. PII means the quality of the patent. PII value more than 1 means that the quality of the patent is better than others, Otherwise the quality of the patent is worse. This paper estimated the specialization of technologies among countries using above two index.

  • Masan port is a representative port of Kyungnam region, and proceeds to work port development for the future. However, Analytical research related to current competitiveness and strategies for the future of Masan port have been little studied since then. Thus, the aim of this paper is to analyze the current competitiveness level of Masan port. To achieve this abjective, evaluation model based on empirical data was established. And then FHP-based index model that calculate competitiveness level of port was adopted. To analysis competitiveness of Masan port, Data from shippers calling at Masan port were collected. The result of data analysis showed that current competitiveness level of Masan port was 63.

Longitudinal Analysis to Regional LQ Index Competitiveness of Character Culture Contents Industry (캐릭터 문화콘텐츠 산업의 권역별 입지 경쟁력 분석에 대한 종단적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the status and the competitiveness improvement of character industry comparing to relative LQ index of the no. of character company, the no. of employee and the amount of revenue of 2007, 2009, and 2010 between including Metro area and regional blocks(kangwon, chungchung, daekung, honam, dongnam and jeju region). The results of this research are as follows. In case whole regional analysis, no. of employee and no. of character company suggested jeju, dongnam and Metro have high competitiveness during the 3 years and amount of revenue suggested consistent high competitiveness 6 block except Metro. But in case of except of Metro, no. of character company and the no. of employee indicated dongnam and jeju showed competitiveness during 3 years. Chungchung area indicated high competitiveness at no. of employee(2009) and no. of character company(2011). The amount of revenue indicated jeju area have high competitiveness during 3 years.
