An Implementation of $A^*$ Algorithm with Turn Heuristic for Enhancing the Straightness of a Path (경로의 직진성을 고려한 턴 휴리스틱 $A^*$ 알고리즘의 구현)

  • In driving a car, u-turn or left turn makes the speed of car decrease considerably or require more waiting time at the cross for the traffic signal to turn green. A more straight path, therefore, is probably faster to arrive at the destination than zig-zaged path with same distance. Previous works related to the path navigation do not consider the straightness of the path. In this paper, we have proposed the path navigation algorithm with turn heuristic for enhancing the straightness of a path. We have implement the proposed algorithm and compared it with a traditional $A^*$ algorithm. The experimental result shows that the degree of the straightness of a path is enhanced by 30% and the navigation distance of a path is deceased by 3.3%.

  • In connection-oriented data-transport services, data loss can occur when the service experiences a problem on its end-to-end path. To promptly resolve this problem, the data-switching systems providing the service should quickly modify their internal configurations distributed among different places in each system. This is performed through a sequence of problem (event) recognition, sharing, and handling procedures among multiple control processors in the system. This paper proposes a method for event sharing and messaging between control processors, to improve the time determinacy of event processing. This method simplifies runtime event sharing and minimizes the time variability caused by the event data, resulting in a decrease in the latency time in processing global events. The proposed method lessens the latency time of global event processing by about 40%, compared to general methods, for 738 internal path changes.

  • This paper briefly describes the fundamental strategies--path-tracing, pin-pointing, and path-switching--in the computational elastic bifurcation theory of geometrically non-linear single-load-parameter conservative elastic spatial structures. The stability points in the non-linear elasticity may be classified into limit points and bifurcation points. For the limit points, the path tracing scheme that successively computes the regular equilibrium points on the equilibrium path, and the pinpointing scheme that precisely locates the singular equilibrium points were sufficient for the computational stability analysis. For the bifurcation points, however, a specific procedure for path-switching was also necessary to detect the branching paths to be traced in the post-buckling region. After the introduction, a general theory of elastic stability based on the energy concept was given. Then path tracing, an indirect method of detecting multiple bifurcation points, and path switching strategies were described. Next, some numerical examples of bifurcation analysis were carried out for a trussed stardome, and a pin-supported plane circular arch was described. Finally, concluding remarks were given.

Influencing Factors on the Knowledge-Transfer Channel of the Korean Academics Engaged in Science and Engineering (한국 이공계 대학교수 지식이전 경로의 영향요인)

  • Against Nonaka's seminal work in 1999, this study aims to investigate various influencing factors on knowledge-transfer channels of Korean academics. To do this, we surveyed 20,000 Korean academics in science and engineering with regard to factors involved in their formal and informal collaborative activities with firms. In particular, we focus on the individual characteristics of the academics when the channels are changed from informal channels (e.g. consulting) to formal channels (e.g. licensing), as the codification of knowledge is important when it is spilled over. According to the results, male academics with a longer career and in the field of applied disciplines in a big laboratories are likely to join the transformation of the channels. Interestingly, application capacity as measured by the number of patent application is significantly and positively related to the participation of formal channels. In contrast, scientific capacity as measured by the number of papers is significantly and negatively, or in some case weakly, related to the participation. Finally, based on the findings, some policy implications are put forwarded.

  • This study analyzed the meanings and drives, and government roles in NIS transformation process. Specifically, I deal with changes in the S&T policy and S&T public administration system as NIS changed from catch-up to post catch-up. As a result, S&T policy and administrative structure has changed as key elements of a new form of steering the transformation process. Though changed from direct to indirect, the role of the state remains strong in 'vision creation' and 'discursive coordination' as supporter and facilitator of the NIS transformation process. Especially, administration structure has been changed to strengthen decentralized pluralism and linkages and cooperation between government and private, between firms and universities, among inter related ministries.

  • 시간적 표본화를 채택한 다중경로방법에 의한 장면전환 검출방법은 전 동영상에 대해 매 프레임마다 순차적으로 검색하는 방법에 비해서 빠르며, 동일한 정확성을 갖고 있다. 그러나, 검출 시간을 최소화하기 위한 적절한 검출 간격을 선택하는 어떠한 기준이나 방법도 제시되지 않았으며 검출 간격을 경험에 의해 선택할 수밖에 없다. 이 논문에서는 장면 전환 검출 시간, 검출 간격과 실제 장면 전환 간격으로부터 검출 시간을 최소화하는 최적 검출 간격을 얻을 수 있음을 보였다. 평균 장면 전환 간격이 알려져 있지 않은 동영상에 대해서 최적 검출 간격을 추정할 수 있는 알고리듬을 제안하였다.

Physical Distribution Channel Choice according to Commodity Types (제품특성에 따른 물적유통경로선택 분석)

  • The study developed physical distribution channel choice models reflecting decision making of the firms and studied how choice decision factors influence selection of distribution channel. The distribution channel survey data in Korea was used to do empirical study. As a choice set, distribution channels were classified into two main choice channels: direct and indirect channels. In addition, indirect channels were classified into other three channels according to the type of intermediate point: distribution center, wholesale store, and agency. This study developed choice models by applying both binary and multinomial logit model with various set of factors. The results showed that the developed logit models seemingly reflect distribution channel choice behaviors. The hypothesis tests on how each factor influences choice of distribution channel were performed and discussed as well.

  • The flavonoid biosynthetic pathway has been studied as a genetic model system, particularly in Petunia hybrida. In order to study the flavonoid biosynthetic pathway, we constructed a fusion gene system between Cauliflower Mosaic Virus (CaMV) 35S promoter and eggplant flavonoid 3', 5'-hydroxylase in pBI 121 plasmid. An optimal condition for plant regeneration was observed when internode explants were cultured on MS medium supplemented with IAA 0.2 mg/L plus BA 3 mg/L. For plant transformation internode explants of Petunia hybrida were precultured on BM medium supplemented with IAA 0.2 mg/L plus BA 3 mg/L. Putative transgenic plants were selected on medium containing kanamycin 50 mg/L plus cefotaxim 300 mg/L. Putative selected transformants were confirmed by amplification of selectable marker gene (nptII) by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and Southern hybridization of flavonoid 3',5'-hydroxylase gene.

  • The sensitivity of investment with respect to cash flow is positive in imperfect financial markets. Using a switching regression model, cash flow sensitivity of investments in chaebol firms and large firms appears to be higher. Also, investments are found to be more responsive to cash flow during monetary contraction periods. These findings imply that monetary policy works through a credit channel. Furthermore, it appears that monetary policy exerts distributional effects as well as aggregate effects on that firms are unevenly affected by monetary changes.
