A New Motion Vector Coding Scheme for Improving Video Coding Efficiency (동영상 부호화 성능 개선을 위한 새로운 움직임 벡터 부호화 기법)

  • It is necessary to develop an efficient MVD coding scheme to improve the video coding performance. In this paper, combined codeword and joint codeword are suggested from analyses on statistical distributions of MVD according to the quantization steps and the conventional codeword structure. Based on these codewords, we propose new MVD coding scheme where one of the suggested codewords is employed to encode the MVD according to the coding environment. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme enhances the coding performance without the quality degradation.

A Joint Bitrate Allocation among Multiple Video Sources (다수의 영상신호원간 결합 부호화율 할당방법)

  • When the multiple video sources are together transmitted through the channel of fixed bandwidth, the efficiently joint bandwidth allocation is necessary. This paper presents the joint bandwidth allocation method to keep the constant picture duality ratio among the video sources. We first find an approximated model of distortion and bitrate for the multiplexing system of multiple sources. Then we obtain the bitrate for each source to have constant distortion ratio among the sources by using the approximated model parameters for simple implementation. It is shown by simulation that the proposed bandwidth allocation can keep almost constant picture quality ratio among the sources in comparison to an independent bandwidth allocation method.

  • A layered coding scheme is one of the adaptive receiving techniques for unidirectional services such as multimedia broadcasting and multicasting services (MBMS), where we cannot utilize feedback information. The layered coding scheme can be used with hierarchical modulations by combining suitable code rates and modulation orders of each. In addition, it has been reported that hybrid and/or integrated satellite systems can effectively achieve transmit diversity gains by appropriate utilization of space time coding combined with turbo codes. This paper proposes a layered turbo coding schemes for hybrid and/or integrated satellite systems. We first introduce the system architecture and operational principle of the proposed scheme, and discuss the applicability.

Image Coding Using LOT and FSVQ with Two-Channel Conjugate Codebooks (LOT와 2-채널 결합 코드북을 갖은 FSVQ를 이용한 영상 부호화)

  • Vector quantization with two-channel conjugate codebook has been researched as an efficient coding technique that can reduce the computational complexity and codebook storage. This paper proposes FSVQ using two-channel conjugate codebook in order to reduce the number of state codebooks. Input vector in the two-channel conjugate FSVQ is coded with state codebook of a seperated state according to each codebook. In addition, LOT is adopted to obtain to obtain a high coding gain and to reduce blocking effect which appears in the block coding. As a result, although FSVQ can achieve higher data compression ratio than general vector quantization, it has a disadvantage of having a very large number of state codebooks. However FSVQ with two-channel conjugate codebooks can employ a significantly reduced number of state codebooks, even though it has a small loss in the PSNR compared with the conventional FSVQ using one codebook. Moreover FSVQ in the LOT domain can reduce blocking effect and high coding gain compared with FSVQ in the spatial domain.

  • 본 논문에서는 결합변환상관기(joint transform correlator)와 위상 암호화된 영상들을 이용하여 영상의 인식 및 복호화가 가능한 광 암호화 시스템을 제안하였다. 그레이 값을 가지는 원 영상은 동일한 그레이 값을 가지는 이진 영상으로 나누어 표현할 있다. 이러한 이진 영상들을 각각의 다른 이진 무작위 영상과 위상 부호화한 XOR 연산을 이용해 암호화할 수 있으며. 암호화한 영상들을 결합한 후 위상 부호화 과정을 거쳐 최종 암호화 영상를 구한다. 키 영상은 암호화에 사용된 각각의 이진 무작위 영상들을 최종 암호와 영상를 얻을때의 과정처럼 결합하여 역시 하나의 영상으로 구할 수 있다. 최종 암호화 영상과 키 영상을 제안한 결합변환상관기의 입력으로 사용하여 구한 상관치는 높고 폭이 좁은 특성을 가지고 있으므로 분별성능이 좋은 인식 시스템을 구현할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 복호화 영상도 구할 수 있다. 컴퓨터 모의 실험으로 제안한 방법을 확인해보았다.

  • In this paper, we develop an approach toward Joint Source-Channel Coding for MPEG-4(Moving picture Experts Group) based video coding In fixed and mobile reception environment. We have considered channel environment of AWGN and mobile reception. The source coder used MPEG-4 video. the channel coder used RCPC(Rate Compatible Punctured Convolution) and the modulation method used QPSK(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) modulation. This study determined optimum Trade-off point between source bit rate and channel coding rate In variable channel states. We compared Joint Source/channel Coding method and general constant bit rate transmission. In this results, Joint Source/channel Coding was appeared better performance than constant bit rate transmission.

  • Conventional binary adder requires a carry propagation to the most significant bit, and leads to serial addition. However, optical adder using a modified signed digit(MSD) number system has been Proposed to reduce the carry propagation chain encountered in binary adder. In this paper, in order to minimize the number of symbolic substitution(SS) rules, nine input patterns were divided into five groups of the same addition results. For recognizing the input reference patterns, serial connections of joint spatial encoded patterns and masks without any other spatial operations are used.

  • Forward error correction (FEC) coding schemes using iterative soft decision detection (SDD) information are mandatory in most of the next generation wireless communication system, in order to combat inevitable channel imparirnents. At the same time, space-time block coding (STBC) schemes are used for the diversity gain. Therefore, SDD information has to be fed into FEC decoder. In this paper, we propose efficient SDD methods for turbo-coded STBC system using high order modulation such as QAM. We present simulation results of various SDD schemes for turbo-coded STBC systems, and show that the proposed methods can provide almost approximating performance to maximum likelihood detection with much less computational load.

  • This paper is made up Advanced Image Coding(AIC) that combines algorithms from next generation image coding standard, H.264/MPEG-4 Part 10 advanced video coding(AVC) and still image compression standard, JPEG(Joint Photographic Experts Group). AIC combines intra frame block prediction from H.264 with a JPEG style discrete cosine transform and quantization, followed by Context-based Adaptive Binary Arithmetic Coding(CABAC) as used in H.264. In this paper, we analyzes the efficiency of the AIC algorithm and JPEG and JPEG-2000, and it presents of result.

  • Recently, it is studied actively that DVB-S2 for mobility standard(DVB-S2M) is combined with DVB-H, DVB-T and conventional DVB-S2 standard for continuous satellite broadcasting and internet service. Especially, overcoming deep fading by tunnel is main subject. For overcoming deep fading, DVB-S2M proposed cross layer system is consist of upper layer and physical layer. Thus, this paper proposed optimal upper layer coding system fixing the physical layer coding under the simulation results by coding methods, train speed, data rate, interleaver size and IP packet size.
