Comparison of temperature dependance between short and long period fiber gratings (단주기 광섬유 격자(Fiber Grating)와 장주기 광섬유 격자의 온도 의존성 비교)

  • An optical fiber short period grating of 0.7 nm as a 3 dB wavelength linewidth was fabricated using a Gaussian distributed KrF Eximer laser and a phase mask. This grating has temperature dependancy of 0.01 nm/$^{\circ}C$ over the range of -10 $^{\circ}C$ ~ 70 $^{\circ}C$and no difference between temperature directions. An optical fiber long period grating of 14.22 nm as a 3 dB linewidth was also fabricated using a amplitude mask and has dependancy of 0.01 nm/$^{\circ}C$ over the same range.

  • Field Model에 의한 화재해석방법은 화재현상을 지배하는 망정식윤 직접 해석하기 때문에 Zone model에 비해 공간내의 상세 정보를 제공함과 동시에 다양한 화재형태에 내해 보편적인 적용이 가능하다. Field model은 해석영역을 구성하는 격자점에 대해 이산화된 지배 방정식을 해석하는 과정에서 차분방법이나 격자의 크기에 따라 수치오류가 발생할 수 있다. 특히 격자수는 계산시간에 영향을 미치는 가장 중요한 인자이기 때문에 효율적인 계산을 위해서는 격자크기의 최적화가 이루어져야 한다. 본 연구에서는 구획공간 화재의 최적 격자크기 선정을 위해 격자해상도(Grid Resolution)에 따른 해석결과의 독립성을 비교분석하고 이를 통해 구획공간화재에 대한 격자 최적화 방법에 대해 논의하고자 한다. 화재크기 및 특성 길이에 따른 격자의존성을 파악하기 위해 ISO-9705 표준화재실에 내해 적용된 격자크기는 최소 3 cm에서 최대 30 cm까지 총 7 종류의 격자크기에 대해 FDS 해석이 수행되었다. 해석결과, 환기량이 충분한 화재에 대해서도 격자해상도가 16보다 작은 경우 출입구의 유동은 격자에 따른 독립성을 확보하지 못하는 것으로 나타났으며 화재발열량이 증가함에 따라 독립적인 해석해를 얻기 위해서는 더 큰 격자해상도를 요구하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 현재 실무에서 격자최적화를 위해 사용되고 있는 격자선정법에 대한 재검토가 필요하며 화재특성 및 구획공간 조건에 따른 최적격자 조건을 도출하기 위한 추가적인 연구가 필요하다.

Study of Grid Dependency of Sheet Atomization Model of a Pressure-Swirl Atomizer (스월형 분사기 분무 예측 모델에서의 격자 의존성 연구)

  • An improved spray model of a pressure-swirl atomizer was developed and the grid dependency of the model was investigated. Since the Lagrangian-Eulerian approach was adopted for tracking droplets, very small grids could not be used. However, in order to detect swirl flow accurately, small grids were needed because of the consideration of swirl injection. In order to overcome these limitations, numerical studies were performed by using various grids with cell sizes ranging from 10.0 $\times$ 10 mm to 0.625 $\times$ 0.625 mm. From these calculated results, it was observed that the most efficient grid cell size was 1.25 $\times$ 1.25 mm.

  • The polarization characteristics of nano-scale grating-assisted polarization-insensitive coupler (GA-PIC) consisted of double sandwiched rib-type layers are evaluated in detail by using modal transmission-line theory (MTLT) based on equivalent network. To obtain the polarization-insensitive condition of GA-PIC, the coupling lengths as a function of the refractive index and thickness of sandwiched rib-type layer as well as the grating thickness and period are analyzed for quasi-TE and quasi-TM modes. The numerical results show that the GA-PIC with hundreds of nanometer scale is realized by properly choosing structural and material parameters of double sandwiched layers and grating.

  • The dependency of long-range order parameter on the ordered structure of $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ solid solutions has been investigated by means of computer simulations of high-resolution lattice images. The computer image simulations were performed by the multislice method in a wide range of sample thicknesses, defocusing values, and long-range order parameters. It was found that the lattice images of the ordered structures were predominantly dependent on the long-range order parameter, The lattice images in a complete ordered structure showed a pseudo-hexagonal pattern. As the order parameter decreases, the simulated images changed slowly from a pseudo-hexagonal pattern to a rectangular pattern. The lattice images in a complete disordered structure showed a rectangular pattern. Also, the simulated images of the $Pb(Mg_xNb_{1-x})O_3$ with different Mg:Nb ratios obtained at a given long-range order parameter were basically the same patterns, irrespective of Mg and Nb compositions.

  • Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer (OADM)은 WDM, 즉 파장분할을 이용하여 보다 많은 정보를 보다 빠르게 전송할 수 있는 광통신 시스템에서 가장 중요한 소자 중의 하나이다. WDM (특히, DWDM) 시스템에서는 광신호의 전송 대역이 파장 영역에서 0.8 nm 정도의 매우 좁은 간격으로 배치되기 때문에, 파장 가감을 위한 광필터들은 높은 파장 정확성과 환경적 조건에 대한 안정성을 가져야만 한다. 그러나 광섬유 단주기 격자의 온도 의존성은 일반적으로 0.01 nm/$^{\circ}C$ 정도로 너무 크기 때문에 WDM 시스템에서 응용되기 위해서는 패키징을 통한 온도 보상이 필요하다.   • 분포형 수문모형은 컴퓨터 하드웨어의 급속한 발전과 GIS를 바탕으로 한 수문지리공간정보에의 접근성 및 활용성 증가에 따라 근래에 많은 발전을 이루게 되었다. 하지만 물리기반 분포형 수문모형은 입력자료 구축 및 모형구동에 많은 시간과 노력이 필요하며 수문자료가 불충분한 미계측 유역에서는 모형의 구축이 어렵다는 한계점을 지니고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 개념적 격자물수지 기법을 이용하여 집중형 수문모형의 자료구축의 간편성과 분포형 수문모형의 공간적 유출 해석 능력을 동시에 만족할 수 있는 그리고 격자기반 레이더강우자료를 활용할 수 있는 개념적-분포형 수문모형을 개발하였다. 본 수문모형은 GUI 환경으로 개발되었으며, GIS 전처리과정(pre-process) 및 유역의 지형자료 추출 기능을 탑재함으로 지형분석을 위해 GIS 상용 도구에 대한 의존성이 없는 장점을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이 모형의 적용성을 검토하기 위하여 내린천 유역을 대상으로 유출해석을 실시하였으며 그 결과 적용성이 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

Reduction of Grid Size Dependency in DME Spray Modeling with Gas-jet Model (가스 제트 모델을 이용한 DME 분무 해석의 격자 의존성 저감)

  • This paper describes the grid-size dependency of the conventional Eulerian-Lagrangian method to spray characteristics such as spray penetration and SMD in modeling DME sprays. In addition, the reduction of the grid-size dependency of the present Gas-jet model was investigated. The calculations were performed using the KIVA code and the calculated results were compared to those of experimental result. The results showed that the conventional Eulerian-Laglangian model predicts shorter spray penetration for large cell because of inaccurate calculation of momentum exchange between liquid and gas phase. However, it was shown that the gas-jet model reduced grid-size dependency to spray penetration by calculating relative velocity between liquid and ambient gas based on gas jet velocity.

  • It is very important to understand characteristics of solution due to the variation of computational grid sizes, especially when turbulence model not incorporating wall-function is used. The present paper performs numerical investigation on the grid dependency of numerical solution for three dimensional turbulent flow field around a ship. In the present study a finite volume method with a modified sub-grid scale turbulence model and a numerically constructed non-orthogonal curvilinear coordinate system capable of conforming complex ship geometries are used. Numerical studies are then performed for a mathematical Wigley hull and the Series 60, $C_B=0.8$ hull forms. The results for various grid sizes are compared with each other and with measured data to show grid dependencies of numerical solutions.

Design of Polarization-Insensitive Directional Couplers and Multimode Interference Couplers Integrated with Bragg Grating Waveguide (Bragg 격자구조가 집적된 편광 무의존성 방향성 결합기와 다중모드 간섭 결합기의 설계)

  • This paper presents a rigorous comparison of the design characteristics of polarization-insensitive directional coupler (DC) and multimode interference (MMI) coupler based on rib type waveguides, by using longitudinal modal transmission-line theory (L-MTLT). It shows that the multimode mixing and interference property of MMI can be structurally designed through the continuous evolution of the two-mode coupling property of DC. It also compares and analyzes the coupling efficiency along with the coupling length and the wavelength between polarization-insensitive DC and MMI. From the design properties obtained, it demonstrates for the first time the integration of polarization-insensitive DC or MMI with a Bragg grating and evaluates precisely the filtering characteristics. The numerical results reveal that the DC, as long as it is designed to have the same coupling length for TE and TM modes, has better performance than the MMI in polarization-insensitive filtering behaviour. However, it shows that the MMI with much less coupling length than DC is preferred in the miniaturization of integrated devices.
