The success of a three-dimensional blockbuster movie, AVARTA, brought an public attention on the expansion of three-dimensional computer applications, and it allows experts predict further hardware technology developments to support the such applications. Futhermore, an internet based infra structure and three-dimensional structure, third generation network community, advanced computer networks have influenced advancement in computer technology within the 3D game industry and the spread of 2D computer animation technologies. This advancement of computer technologies allow the industry to overcome a limitation of generating cultural design contexts existed within 2D network community. However, despite of the expansion of 2D and 3D computer technologies, a limitation of analysing designers' intentions on morphology of digital contents and user interface still exists. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze (1) present conditions of the 3D industry and (2) protocols of designers' cognitive design processes based on their design communication, contents, and tools. Analysis was conducted based on literature reviews and case precedent analyses. For the analysis, a 2D Avarta sketch character was designed and then applied into a 3D game system. Observations how designers solve cultural problem within the structure via Avarta were conducted. Outcomes were then coded for further analysis.
Cartoons and consequently animation are an effective way of visualizing futuristic scenarios. Here we look at how animation is becoming ubiquitous and an integral part of this future today: the cybernetic and mediated society that we are being transformed into. Animation therefore becomes a form of speech between humans and this networked reality, either as an interface or as representation that gives temporal form to objects. Animation or specifically animated films usually are associated with character based short and feature films, fiction or nonfiction. However animation is not constricted to traditional cinematic formats and language, the same way that design and communication have become treated as separate fields, however according to $Vil{\acute{e}}m$ Flusser they aren't. The same premise can be applied to animation in a networked culture: Animation has become an intrinsic to design processes and products - as in motion graphics, interface design and three-dimensional visualization. Video-games, virtual reality, map based apps and social networks constitute layers of an expanded universe that embodies our network based culture. They are products of design and media disciplines that are increasingly relying on animation as a universal language suited to multi-cultural interactions carried in digital ambients. In this sense animation becomes a discourse, the same way as Roland Barthes describes myth as a type of speech. With the objective of exploring the role of animation as a design tool, the proposed research intends to develop transmedia creative visual strategies using animation both as narrative and as an user interface.
A Device performance analyzing method for appropriate level in hybrid rendering model is suggested. In recent research, we proposed a hybrid rendering model which is applying a proper shading method to each of polygons consisting of an object. The number of polygon for Gouraud shading and that for flat shading should be considered according to a current device performance and system environments. Therefore, this paper suggests the method to calculate automatically a proper resolution of a mesh of object and a proper level of mixture between Gouraud and a flat shading, considering a current device performance and a preference of end-user. The rendering model is so simple that it can be an efficient replacement to reduce a real-time rendering time since it provides automatically multi-level of rendering resolution to an executing environments. Moreover, it can be adopted in real-time adaptive service for 3D graphic contents like a graphic game under various device environments.
This paper presents a Soccer Game 3D Reencatment System which reenact the Important scene like getting a goal with image processing and computer graphics technologies. KBS Research Institute of Technology has developed the 3D Reenactment System of Soccer Game called ‘VPlay' to provide TV viewers with fresh images in soccer games. Vplay generates the reenactment of exciting and important soccer scenes by using computer graphics. Vplay extracts legion of players from video with color information, and then computes precise positions of players on the ground by using global motion estimation model and playground axis transformation model. The results are applied to locomotion generation module that generates the locomotion of virtual characters automatically. Using predefined motion and model library, Vplay reenacts the important scene in a quick and convenient manner Vplay was developed for live broadcasting of soccer games that demands rapid producing time and was used efficiently during past WorldCup and Asian Game.
After that Internet was introduced to Korea, Web page has developed from text centered to graphic-centered at its fist stage. At the present, it is improving to a design for users. Furthermore, with the acceleration of Information super-highway construction and generalization of basic technology for multi-media, the educational environment has transformed to demander-focused and internet basis service which transcends time and space. Consequently, the educational structure is converting from instructors unilateral lead to student-centered. Additionally, the common usage and digitalization of information have an effect on progress of education quality and cost saving. Although there are plenty of educational web pages on internet, we can notice that many of them are inconvenient for users to put into practice. The reason is that many experts overlook the fundamental which is the basic skill for design and understanding of Web must be accompanied with Web design. Therefore, this thesis will find out the points users should consider for use of Web page and realize the educational web page, reflected for VRML training.
Cultural contents refers to cultural and artistic contents that are saved, sold, and enjoyed in various digital media. In responding to rising content contents, OSMU has been utilized to make one content into various types of products. Recently, transmedia contents are replacing the role of OSMU. Transmedia contents builds up the united content with blending of various contents through plural media and they have emerged in the part of creating digital contents under the convergence paradigm. Transmedia contents becomes invasive and permeates fully the audience's lifestyle by developing content available across multiple forms of media. This study discusses the differences between OSMU and transmedia contents. It attempts to clearly define transmedia contents and to conceptualize the components of transmedia contents. In doing so, this study seeks a new method of storytelling utilizing transmedia contents. The discussions in this study should be useful for transmedia content developers to improve their work. Implications and directions for future study are discussed.
Using a smartphone allows quick and easy authentication and payment. However, smartphone security threats are evolving into a variety of new hacking technologies, and are changing to attacks specific to the mobile environment. Therefore, there is a demand for an authentication method suitable for a mobile environment. In order to solve security weaknesses in knowledge-based authentication, many companies provide two-step authentication services such as OTP(One Time Password) to provide authentication services such as finance, games, and login. Although OTP service is easy to use, it is easy to duplicate random number table and has a disadvantage that can be reused because it is used as valid value within time limit. In this paper, we propose a mechanism that enables users to quickly and easily authenticate with high security using the authentication method that recognizes special characters through smartphone's dedicated application.
This paper presents a new 3D sound toolkit called $EVE-Sound^{TM}$ that consists of pre-processing tool for environment simplification preserving sound effect and 3D sound API for real-time rendering. It is designed so that it can allow users to interact with complex 3D virtual environments by audio-visual modalities. $EVE-Sound^{TM}$ toolkit would serve two different types of users: high-level programmers who need an easy-to-use sound API for developing realistic 3D audio-visually rendered applications, and the researchers in 3D sound field who need to experiment with or develop new algorithms while not wanting to re-write all the required code from scratch. An interactive virtual environment application is created with the sound engine constructed using $EVE-Sound^{TM}$ toolkit, and it shows the real-time audio-visual rendering performance and the applicability of proposed $EVE-Sound^{TM}$ for building interactive applications with complex 3D environments.

Uncanny Valley is a theory proposed by Japanese robot engineer Masahiro Mori in 1970, and refers to the point where the likability drops sharply when the appearance of a robot becomes very similar to a human being without a fully equipped robot. In this study, the theory of existing literature, related papers, and experimental data were analyzed to examine the Uncanny Valley effect that affects character design. The purpose of this study is to analyze whether the Uncanny Valley effect is applied to modeling virtual characters distributed in the Unreal Engine Marketplace. To this end, 15 characters were selected based on the similarity with humans in the Marketplace of the Unreal Engine, and similarity with humans and likability were investigated and analyzed. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the Uncanny Valley effect was similarly applied to virtual character modeling, and through this, guidelines for the use of characters by indie game developers or individual developers using Unreal engines were presented. In addition, through result analysis, we tried to examine the direction to be pursued when designing characters.

SWF(Shock Wave Flash) file is a format file for vector graphics produced by Adobe. It is widely used for a variety of contents such as advertising at websites, widgets, games, education, and videos and it contains various types of data such as sound sources, script, API and images. Many SWF files contain URL information on action script for communication in the network and they can be used as important research data as well as PC users' Web Browser history in terms of forensic investigation. And a decompiler for analyzing SWF files exists by which SWF files can be analysed and URL information can be verified. However, it takes a long time to verify the URL information on action scripts of multiple SWF files by the decompiler. In this paper, analysis of URL information on action scripts and extraction of URL information from multiple SWF files by designing analysis tools for URL information in SWF files is studied.
