  • The arcade game market is 2nd big market in the world following console game market. It is a driving force of growth for game industry but its Korean case was decreasing growth of game industry by various kinds of factors. Therefore, it is placed too much emphasis on online game industry and it lost industry growth power. The characteristics of arcade game are spatiality, expandability of device, rewardability, amusemenability. The importance of arcade game are development of new device and freedom of application it but it is restricted by prior deliberation and regulation of industry in korea. Many problems arise from classifying speculation device to arcade game and relaxation of regulation. In this paper, we analyze effectiveness from policy change in Arcade game industry, especially we focused on regulation policy. Also, we found problems and suggested alternatives by comparision on policy of foreign country.

An Educational Robot Game Framework for Programming Leaning in K-12 (프로그래밍 학습을 위한 교육용 로봇 게임 프레임워크)

  • This paper proposes an educational robot game framework for novice students in k-12 to learn concepts of programming through interesting experiences. It is designed to be able to enjoy robot games without technical knowledge of robotics and programming. For this, in the proposed robot game framework, educational robots based on line-tracer are used and the programming APls that can be used for various educational programming languages are offered. And the proposed robot game framework also offers a game board to create several games with easy operations. Additionally, through experiments, it shows that novice students are able to create different games that have several game solutions for various programming using this robot game framework.

'지스타 2007'에 선보인 자판기들

  • 지난 11월8일부터 11일까지 일산 킨텍스 전시장에서는 국내 최대 게임쇼 '지스타 2007'이 개최되었다. 올해로 3회째를 맞는 '지스타'는 14개국 150개 업체가 참가하고 총 15만명 관람객이 전시장을 찾았다. 또 500여명의 해외 바이어가 찾는 등 전시운영과 성과에서는 성공적이라는 평가를 받았다. 하지만 참가업체와 규모가 점점 작아진다는 지적과 온라인게임에 치중된 전시라는 고질적인 문제점을 들어내기도 했다. 이번 '지스타'전시회에 자판기 관련 품목 업체들도 참가를 진행했다. '자판기가 왜 게임 전시회에 참여를 하나?' 의아해 하는 사람들도 있을 것이다. 하지만 어뮤즈먼트 성격이 강한 자판기의 경우 게임장 로케이션까지 포함하려 하기 때문에 '지스타'전시회에 참가하는 것이다. 이번 전시회에 참가한 자판기 관련 업체는 대승인터컴, 디게이트, 빅코인전자정밀, 골든퓨쳐테크놀로지 등을 들 수 있다. 이들 업체에서 새롭게 선보인 자판기 품목들을 살펴봤다.

  • 국내 게임 분야의 기술은 업소용 게임장을 중심으로 3차원 영상과 부분적인 체감형 인터페이스를 채용한 게임이 빠른 증가 추세이고, 게임 내용에 따른 재미 요소와 인간의 감각을 매개로 하는 다양한 체감형 반응.조작 장치의 시험적 상용화가 증가되고 있다. 따라서 3D 영상 및 실세계를 정밀하게 실시간으로 시뮬레이션 할 수 있는 물리 엔진의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 PC를 기반으로 한 물리엔진에 대한 설계와 구현 결과에 대해서 서술한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 컴퓨터 액션 게임 중에 하나인, 퀘이크 II 게임을 위한 제스처 기반의 인터페이스를 제안한다. 제안된 인터페이스는 연속된 입력 영상열로부터 재스처를 검출하고 인식하기 위해 HMM 올 사용한다. 먼저 재스처를 검출하기 위해 입력 영상열로부터 포즈 심볼열을 추출하여 사용한다. 인식하기 위해 사용된 HMM은 추출된 포즈 심볼을 입력받아, 상태 확률값을 계산하여 계속적으로 갱신한다 이때 갱신되는 상태 확률값 중에 각 제스처에 속하는 특정상태의 확률값이, 미리 정의된 임계간과 비교하여 초과하면 검출되고 인식된다. 현재 제안된 시스템은 실제 퀘이크 II 게임에서 키보드버튼과 마우스를 통해 입력되는 명령어들 중에서 게임을 진행하기 위해 먼저 필요한 움지임과 시점 변환에 관계되는 명령어들을 13 개의 제스처로 표현하고 이 제스처 명령어를 검출하고 인식한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 랜덤 생성 알고리즘을 도입한 디펜스 게임을 제안한다. 기존의 디펜스 게임은 지형물의 변형 및 확장이 불가능하다. 그것에 착안하여 지형물들의 위치가 랜덤으로 생성되는 시스템을 도입하였다. 본 게임은 지형물이 랜덤으로 생성되지만, 난이도에 따라 연속적으로 생성될 수 있는 지형물의 개수를 차별화하고, 사용자가 추가로 설치할 수 있는 지형물의 개수에 제한을 두었다. 또한 조작 가능한 캐릭터를 생성해 적을 공격할 수 있게 구현하여 사용자의 몰입도를 높여줄 것으로 기대한다.

The Suggestion for the Introduction of Game Culture to Museums (뮤지엄의 게임문화 수용을 위한 제안)

  • Current perception of games is divided. On the one hand, they are criticized as harmful entertainment due to their violent content and addictive nature, and on the other hand, they are evaluated positively as products of a creative industry that offers alternative, interactive entertainment. Based on the latter, this paper will reevaluate the positive element of such games in relation to the museum, the canon of historical and cultural evaluation. The analysis on game culture introduction to the museums consists of three categories: the practical application that includes educational, communicational, and promotional purposes; the approval of games as industrial assets and their extensive cultural influence; and the indirect acceptance of art works using games. A panoramic view of game culture development would promote research on the link between game culture and museums; furthermore, it would establish a basis for an introduction of game culture in academia and predict the future of the industry.

  • The research empirically analyzes the impact of technological regime of game engine upon game development performance. The results indicate that, first, technological regime of game engine determines game's genre distribution. Secondly, user friendly game engine regime(modular, generic and integrated API engine) induces higher genre diversity and lower genre concentration ratios. Thirdly, user friendly game engine regime(modular, generic and integrated API engine) is becoming more applied recently. Fourthly, innovation types and price types of game engine do not influence upon game engine trades. Those results point out that game engine's technological regime influences directly game development application and user friendly regime is increasingly more standardized.

  • Action games exhibit all the specific constellation of masochism, such as disavowal, suspense, waiting, fetishism, and fantasy. These characteristics of action games can be analyzed with respect to masochism. This study conducted an analysis excluding sadism as much as possible, as sadism is a result of etiological misconception as opposed to masochism. However, comparative analysis is included in the study so that action games are not seen as demonstrating sadism. Games create a space for virtual interaction for main agents by connecting gamer-existence and game-character in the framework of a contract. The interaction of visual tactility within this space creates a system of difference in pleasure. Masochism enables one to attain pleasure in a world created himself or herself using fetishism in contractual relationships such as the ones exhibited in games. This shows that action games and masochism are mutually related. This paper analyzed the ontology of action games using actual examples of action games. The paper concluded that action games lead to the fulfillment of masochistic pleasure.

The Probabilities and Expenditures of Game Users' Loot Box Purchases: Focusing on Differential Effects between Adults and Teenagers (확률형 아이템 구매 확률과 지출액에 대한 실증연구: 성인과 청소년의 차이를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the probabilities and expenditures of game users' loot box purchases and to verify if there are differential effects on adults and teenagers. Results show that the purchasing probability of teenagers was significantly lower than that of adults, and the amount was also low or not significant. In addition, loot box purchasing has a positive correlation with the total expenditure on games, but teenage buyers have a lower game spending than adults do. This suggests the possibility that loot boxes are considered as cost-saving products for teenage gamers.
