현재 인터넷에는 많은 종류의 검색사이트가 존재하며 이를 통해 보다 쉽게 정보를 이용하고 얻을 수 있다. 또한 대다수 검색사이트의 경우 단순히 검색서비스를 제공하는 사이트로서보다는 전자우편, 쇼핑, 경매 등과 같은 다양한 서비스를 제공하는 포탈(Portal)사이트로 발전해 가고 있다. 이는 한가지 컨텐츠만으로는 인터넷에서 확고한 자리 매김을 할 수 없기에 일어나는 현상으로 보여진다. 그렇지만, 현재 검색사이트가 가진 서비스와 검색에서 활용성에 대한 문제가 있다고 보여진다. 그것은 기존의 검색사이트가 포탈서비스로 전환함에 따라 고유의 기능을 잃거나 포탈의 모형완성에만 노력을 기울여 검색에는 소홀한 것으로 보여진다. 이에 논문에서는 현존하는 한국의 검색사이트들의 현황을 파악하고 이러한 검색사이트들이 어떠한 컨텐츠를 지향하고, 어떠한 방향으로 나아갈 것인가에 대한 분석을 하였다. 이 논문에서는 현재까지 선행되었던 연구들이 검색엔진에 대한 것이었으나 검색사이트의 검색형태나 검색의 능력에 관한 연구가 보고되고 있다. 현재검색사이트가 포탈형태로 나아가고 있는 시점에서 검색사이트의 포탈형태에 대한 연구는 매우 부족하다. 이번 연구에서는 국내의 7개 검색사이트를 중심으로 검색결과와 카테고리 형태에 대하여 분석하고, 제공서비스 측면에서는 메일서비스, 쇼핑서비스의 문제점과 특징적 서비스의 잘못된 방향에 대한 문제점을 파악하고 개선안을 제시하였다.

This study aims to perform an evaluation of unified search services provided by major Korean search portals, Naver, Daum, Yahoo-Korea, and Empas. These unified search services are evaluated in terms of the relevance of search results. In conducting this study, real queries that real users submitted were used. This study also utilized click logs that consist of documents users clicked and viewed. The results of this study can be implemented to the development and improvement of portal's unified search services. Users can refer to the results of this study in choosing unified search services from search portals.

This paper introduces data standards and protocols for exchanging biodiversity data, explains ways to construct biodiversity search portal of Korea, and describes software components used to implement the portal. We also discuss the expected activity of data custodians to share the biodiversity data.

본 논문은 생물다양성데이터 네트워크 구축에 필요한 국내외의 생물다양성데이터 표준형식과 프로토콜 등을 소개하고 지리적으로 분산된 국내 생물다양성데이터를 통합 검색하여 활용 할 수 있는 방법과 국내생물다양성데이터의 검색포탈을 어떻게 구축하였는지 설명한다. 다음으로 포탈구축에 사용된 데이터 표준, 데이터 교환 프로토콜, 시스템 아키텍쳐 그리고 소프트웨어 구성요소에 대해 설명하고 끝으로 검색포탈이 원활이 운영되어지기 위해 데이터 소유기관 등에서 필요한 활동과 생물다양성데이터 검색포탈 구축의 결과 및 기대효과 등에 서술한다.

포탈분야: 싸이월드(cywold.com) 상위 사이트들의 경쟁이 치열했던 포탈 분야에서는 네이버가 1월 순방문자 수에서 야후를 제치고 포탈 분야 2위에 올랐으며, 이후에도 꾸준히 야후와의 격차를 넓혀가는 한편으로 다음과의 격차를 줄여나가고 있다. 한편 검색서비스 분야에서는 꾸준한 성장세를 보여주고 있는 다음과 서비스 시작 8개월만에 100만 지식을 돌파한 지식 검색 서비스를 통해 검색서비스 1위를 지키려는 네이버, 그리고 정통의 검색사이트인 야후의 자존심 경쟁이 치열한 시기였다.

This study aims to perform an evaluation of web-based encyclopedia services provided by major Korean search portals, Navel, Yahoo-Korea, Empas, and Daum. These encyclopedia services are evaluated in terms of the relevance, up-to-dateness, and multimedia features of search results. In conducting this study, real queries that real users submitted were used. This study also compares functional characteristics of these encyclopedia services. The results of this study can be implemented to the development and improvement of portal's encyclopedia services. Users can refer to the results of this study in choosing encyclopedia services from search portals.

Semantic web portal is expected to overcome the shortcomings of the current web portals through advanced semantic web technologies and to be an effective and efficient method of knowledge sharing. In order to contribute to the knowledge sharing, semantic web portal needs to construct and integrate ontologies of each organization. Also, it needs to support search and navigation of inter-related knowledge. In this paper, we will design a semantic web portal that satisfies such requirements in the domain of display industry, and construct an ontology which links various knowledge of different fields. Moreover, we want to suggest an effective and automatic search/navigation method that supports customers who do not know the details of an ontology to easily get the desired results.

정보화 사회가 성숙되면서 인간의 정보 요구는 계속 다양화, 전문화, 개인화 되어왔으며, 한편 정보의 양과 다양성은 기하급수적으로 증가하여 왔다. 인터넷은 이러한 변화의 중심에서, 여러 가지 새로운 사회 현상을 적나라하게 표현하는 한편, 새로운 현상이 생기는 바탕이 되어왔다. 클리어링 하우스의 개념으로 시작된 인터넷 검색 포탈은, 다각적인 방법으로 실험되어졌고, 검색 효율적 또 상업적인 목적에 의하여 괄목한 성장을 보여 왔다.

웹이 보편화되면서, 많은 업체들은 웹을 통해 다양한 전자상거래 서비스를 제공하고 있다. B2B, B2C, Marketplace 등 다양한 형태의 서비스와 수많은 거래 기술들을 보다 쉽고 저렴하게 이용할 수 있는 방안이 요구되었고, 이를 위해서 UDDI가 개발되었다. UDDI는 등록소를 유지하면서 업체나 서비스의 다양한 정보들을 저장하고 있으며, 업체와 개인뿐 아니라, 소프트웨어에 의해서도 정보를 이용할 수 있도록 한다. 웹을 통해서 정보를 얻고자 하는 일반 사용자 역시 UDDI 등록소의 정보를 검색하여 특징 제품이나 웹 서비스를 찾아서 이용할 수 있다. 현재 IBM과 Microsoft에서 UDDI 등록소의 정보를 검색해주는 웹 서비스가 제공되고 있으나, 검색을 위해서는 어느 정도 전문적인 지식이 요구되기 때문에 일반 사용자가 이용하기에는 이려움이 많다. 본 논문에서는 일반 사용자가 UDDI 등록소의 정보를 검색할 수 있도록 키워드 방식의 검색 포탈을 설계하고 구현한다.

현재 웹 상에서는 많은 검색 엔진들이 존재한다. 최근에는 Yahoo나 Altavista와 같은 검색 엔진 이외에도 CD나 책 등 특정 도메인에 한정된 정보만을 찾아주는 전문 검색 엔진들이 늘어나고 있다. 쇼핑몰, 포탈 서비스 제공 사이트 등 대부분의 사이트에서 기본적으로 정보 검색 기능을 가지고 있다. 이는 정보 검색이 인터넷에 접속하는 사람들의 가장 큰 관심사가 되는 작업임을 입증한다. 이 글에서는 정보 검색 분야에서 에이전트 관련 기술들이 어떻게 적용되고 있는지를 알아보기로 하겠다.
