In order to process video data effectively, it is required that the content information of video data is loaded in database and semantic- based retrieval method can be available for various query of users. Currently existent contents-based video retrieval systems search by single method such as annotation-based or feature-based retrieval, and show low search efficiency and requires many efforts of system administrator or annotator form less perfect automatic processing. In this paper, we propose semantic-based video retrieval system which support semantic retrieval of various users by feature-based retrieval and annotation-based retrieval of massive video data. By user's fundamental query and selection of image for key frame that extracted from query, the automatic indexing agent gives the detail shape for annotation of extracted key frame. Also, key frame selected by user become query image and searches the most similar key frame through feature based retrieval method that propose. Therefore, we propose the system that can heighten retrieval efficiency of video data through semantic-based retrieval.

According to the Annex 17 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation, an appropriate authority of each contracting state has to define and allocate tasks and coordinate activities between the departments, agencies and other organizations of the State, airport and aircraft operators and other entities concerned with or responsible for the implementation of various aspects of the national civil aviation security programme. The airport has to take leading role in implementing security tasks at airport area because the airport operator is the provider of airport facilities and services to its customer and the security activities belong to its services. So Republic of Korea Government enact the Law, Aviation Safety and Security. The Purpose of this Act is to prevent any unlawful act in airport facilities with international conventions, including the ICAO to provide for standards, procedures and mandatory matters needed to ensure the safety and security of civil aviation. But the Act has some error. So is this paper to review the revision of aviation security regulation and the changes of aviation security responsibilities and task assignment. There is the term "aviation security personnel", who are charged with the task of preventing any act of disrupting the order and safety in airport. But there is no term "security screening personnel" who performs to detect or search for dangerous object, such as weapons or explosives, which may be used for the unlawful obstruction.

많은 정보를 포함하고 있는 영상 자료에서 빠른 검색과 분류를 위해서 색깔이나 질감 등의 특징을 나타내는 기술자가 필요하다. 또한 한 영상 안에서도 각 영역별로 다른 특징을 나타내고 있기 때문에 영역별 검색과 분류를 위한 영역 단위의 특징 추출이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 색깔 특징으로 영역화된 영상의 각 영역에서 색깔 특징 벡터와 질감 특징 벡터를 추출하고 추출된 특징 벡터를 다른 영역에서 추출된 특징 벡터와의 거리를 이용하여 비슷한 특징을 보이는 영역을 검색한다. 기존의 전체 영상의 색깔이나 질감 어느 하나만을 이용한 검색과 달리 이러한 특징을 공간적 위치와 색깔, 질감을 조합하여 검색함으로써 보다 만족스러운 검색 결과를 얻을 수 있다.

검색기능은 사용자가 원하는 정보를 효과적으로 탐색하고 이용가능하게 하는 중요한 서비스 요소이다. 본 논문에서는 과학기술분야 전문분석자료, 수집자료, 동향정보를 제공하는 KOSEN(한민족과학기술자네트워크)의 통합검색 서비스 구축에 대해 논한다. 어휘지능망, 연구주제망 등 시맨틱 자원을 활용하여 사용자의 검색 편의성 및 효율성을 최대화 하였으며, 빠른 검색속도와 다양한 검색 부가기능을 제공함으로써 정보의 획득 및 이용의 만족도를 증가시키고자 FAST 검색엔진을 적용한 특징이 있다.

영상 검색 시스템들은 아직까지 내용 기반에 의한 검색 기술이 실용적으로 쓰일 만큼 높은 성능을 보이고 있지 않기 때문에 대부분 텍스트기반에 의한 검색을 지원하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 웹 에이젼트를 이용하여 웹상에서 멀티미디어 정보를 검색하는 것으로 HTML문서에 나타나는 텍스트 중 영상 이름이나 링크에 붙어 있는 텍스트를 추출하여 멀티미디어 자료를 데이터베이스화하였다. 이 데이터베이스에 저장된 영상 자료는 웹 브라우저에서 질의자의 스케치에 의한 검색과 그리고 예제 영상 질의로 검색하는 방법을 제시하여 질의 효율성을 개선하였다.

본 논문에서는 대용량의 XML 문서를 효과적으로 저장, 관리 및 구조 기반 검색이 가능한 XML 저장관리시스템을 설계하고 구현한다. 구현한 XML 저장관리시스템은 관계형 모델을 기반으로 하고, XML 문서 전체를 저장하는 비분할 저장 모델을 사용하며, DTD에 따라 스키마가 생성되는 동적 스키마 생성 모델을 특징으로 한다. 본 논문의 XML 저장관리 시스템은 BRS 검색엔진과 ORACLE을 기반으로 하며 질의처리기 및 검색결과생성기, XML 객체관리자, XML 인덱스관리자, 구조검색엔진 등으로 구성된다. 이를 통하여 내용 및 애트리뷰트 검색 뿐만 아니라 다양한 구조 정보검색을 효율적으로 지원한다.

The ability of the searcher to express their information problem to an information retrieval system is fundamental to the retrieval process. Query by visual example is the principal query paradigm for expressing queries in a content-based image retrieval environment yet there is little empirical evidence to support its efficacy in facilitating query formulation. The aim of this research was to investigate the usability of the query by colour method in supporting a range of information problems in order to contribute to the gap in knowledge regarding the relationship between searchers' information problems and the query methods required to support efficient and effective visual query formulation. The results strongly suggest that the query method does not support visual query formulation and that there is a significant mismatch between the searchers information problems and the expressive power of the retrieval paradigm.

Search strategies is a means to make an efficient search. Among several studies of search strategy, Bates' $\ulcorner$Search Tactics$\lrcorner$ has been often cited and introduced, but their studies have been superficial. In this paper, the contents of Bates' $\ulcorner$Search Tactics$\lrcorner$ are examined in detail, and we try to represent the actual online search process based upon Bates' $\ulcorner$Search Tactics$\lrcorner$. The following three kinds of survey are made in order to clarify which and how tactics are used: (1) Interview with 7 searchers who belong to different types of organizations, and use different kinds of databases (2) Analysis of some online search records. (3) Analysis of written applications for a newspaper database during one year. In conclusion, Bates' tactics falls into categories and new several tactics which often used are added. The following five factors affect online search activities, search strategy, and search tactics. (1) the difficulty of search requests (2) the kinds of databases (3) the charging policy for each online search (4) the presence of the user during the search (5) the searcher' online experience In the limited condition, typical tactics are suggested, but in order to generalize the pattern of using tactics, further investigation is necessary.

Since shape of an object in an image carries important information in contents based image retrieval (CBIR), many shape description methods have been proposed to retrieve images using shape information. Among the existing shape based image retrieval methods, the method which employs invariant Zernike moment desciptor (IZMD) showed better performance compared to other methods which employ traditional Zernike moments descriptor in CBIR. In this paper, we propose a new image retrieval method which applies invariant angular radial transform descriptor (IARTD) to obtain higher performance than the method which employs IZMD in CBIR. IARTD is a rotationally invariant feature which consists of magnitudes and alligned phases of angular radial transform coefficients. To produce rotationally invariant phase coefficients, a phase correction scheme is performed while extracting the IARTD. The distance between two IARTDs is defined by combining the differences of the magnitudes and the aligned phases. Through the experiment using MPEG-7 shape dataset, the average bull's eye performance (BEP) of the proposed method is 0.5806 while the average BEPs of the exsiting methods which employ IZMD and traditional ART are 0.4234 and 0.3574, respectively.

This paper tries to analyze technologies of search engine generally, and reveal the additional modes of Korean search engine at the same time. Recently it said that search engine becomes a self-moving and is getting more strong power than the former one existed. There are many difference interpretative views from technological determination to instrumentalism surrounding this system. Search engine invents the technological mode that draws user's attention to make its own expertise reinforce. It is stemmed from the rationality of its own. Especially Korean search engine exposed unique mutation as self-proliferation of it during past a decade, as for example "related keyword" or "real-time popular keyword" service. Its automatic decision aroused democracy matter, now it is not only web guide. How we do make it to serve in democracy, accepting the independent expertise of it simultaneously? We might find new prospect when focusing on interactional modality between engine and human actor, instead counting both as a separate one.
