  • In order to supplement the flame-retardant performance of oil stain, which can prevent wooden buildings from contamination, (NH4)2HPO4, a phosphorus flame-retardant, was added to oil stain and applied for each type of plywood, and an experiment was conducted. The addition rate was set to 0-60%, but white powder appeared on the surface of plywood from 40% and thus it was impossible to experiment, so the maximum addition rate was selected as 30%. As a result of the experiment, acacia plywood had the best performance. As the rate of addition of the flame retardant increased, the remaining time and carbonization length of all plywood decreased, but the carbonization length of the MDF plywood was not met with the standards.

  • The construction industry has a higher disaster rate than other industries, so safety education and management are highly important. In order to reduce the construction accident rate, it is necessary to study the key safety management factors reflecting the characteristics of the construction industry, where there are differences in processes and manpower input for each process, and a small number of managers. Therefore, in this study, key safety management factors for each Process of construction were derived through cross-analysis between safety accident types and accident occurrence objects through disaster case data. The extracted key safety management factors are expected to provide useful information for safety education and supervision of construction sites.

  • The construction industry has more safety accidents than other industries. Although there have been more attempts to reduce safety hazards in the industry such as the enforcement of the "Serious Accidents Punishment Act (SAPA)", construction accident has not been reduced enough. In this study, analysis of safety risk factors has been made through Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA)-based topic modeling. Risk analysis in construction site would be improved with natural language processing and topic modeling.

  • Bacteria used in self-healing concrete, which arrest the crack, helps increasing the durability is well known. However, the survival and activity of the bacteria are precisely unknown. In this research, to know the bacteria's survival curve on the surface of the cement composite, bacteria's survival curve has been measured by CFU at different curing days. The survival curve of 3 days and 7 days curing does not show the significant differences in their survival tendency. However, the slope of death phase of 7 days curing was steeper than the 3 days of curing. This research was focused on the death phase but for further research, set of interval time will be reduced and observe the lag phase and exponential phase.

  • KPI, an indicator that measures the performance of factors that contribute to achieving strategies of individuals or organizations, is used a lot to analyze the performance of construction work. Construction work consists of individual construction types with different characteristics such as progress method, scale, and input resources, but currently, KPIs for performance analysis of individual construction types are lacking. Therefore, this study aims to obtain and analyze data for establishing construction performance analysis KPIs during construction work to prepare the basis for the creation of future construction KPIs. Preliminary KPIs for earthwork performance analysis selected through this study are expected to be the basis for deriving preliminary KPIs for other individual construction types.

  • Earthwork is the starting work of construction process, which has the greatest impact on the productivity of the construction project among the works. However, it is difficult to derive accurate productivity becuase the earthwork plan is affected by geological condition of the jobsite. Therefore, a simulation model for productivity analysis of earthwork was developed using CYCLONE modeling method in this study. In this paper, simulation model was made considering the impact factors of earthwork productivity. The proposed model can be utilized for sensitivity analysis in future studies.

  • Bacterial self-healing concrete is known to improve the durability of concrete by preventing the propagation of microcracks. In the literature, bacteria prevent the corrosion of rebar by inhibiting water transfer through crack, but also can promote the corrosion by acting as an ion acceptor in the rust generation mechanism. Therefore in this study, the electrochemical analysis of bio-filmed rebar was conducted to explore the effects of the self-healing bacteria on the bare rebar without cement composite. As a result of the experiment contradicting trends for Ecorr and Icorr occurred and additional experiment will be conducted in various environments to collect data on the mechanism of corrosion of rebar by bacteria.

  • As global warming becomes serious, research is continuously being conducted to reduce CO2 emissions. Among building materials, the carbon emission of cement is so high that it accounts for 6.8% of the carbon emission of the entire industry. Studies replacement of cement with blast furnace slag and fly ash are steadily increasing. In addition, efforts are being made to reduce air pollution due to increased damage caused by increased concentrations of harmful substances such as fine dust and heavy metals in the air. There is an increasing number of studies that enable adsorption by mixing adsorbents into building materials. This study reviewed the strength properties to make an adsorbable non-cement finishing material by mixing tourmaline, an adsorbent, based on the non-cement composite, and confirmed that the strength decreases as the replacement ratio increases.

  • Now, the world is increasingly anxious about fine dust due to abnormal temperatures caused by global warming and increased yellow dust caused by desertification, and the World Health Organization (WHO) pointed out that more than 99% of the world's population is exposed to fine dust. In this situation, the reduction rate of fine dust and carbon dioxide of the matrix was tested by using expanded graphite, an eco-friendly and porous material, to improve air quality. As a result of the test, since expanded graphite is a material that expands between layers compared to conventional graphite, the reduction rate of fine dust and carbon dioxide decreases as the replacement rate of expanded graphite increases.
