  • The construction industry in Korea has seen significant improvements in quality management techniques, driven by the dramatic development of new technology through Manhattanization and enlargements, but compared with technical development, the level of building quality improvement is still lagging behind. In the meantime, as the interest in construction quality soars due to changes in user consciousness, the level of quality that is being demanded is rising. The government has reinforced quality systems by implementing responsible supervision requirements and granting overseas companies permission to enter the supervision business in Korea, and private sector companies also are attempting quality improvement through quality assurance approaches like the preliminary qualification screening system and ISO 9000 series. But currently, building constructions are done only according to the construction specifications of project owners, whose design, materials and construction methods are already decided, and do not leave any necessity or opportunity for technical developments for the quality improvement of contractors. Therefore, in this study, a work process and system improvement plan for payment regulations is proposed, with which contractors can secure quality voluntarily in the building construction phase.

  • 수위자료는 유량을 판단하기 위한 기초적인 수문자료이다. 하지만 관측자료는 항상 오류 가능성이 있으므로 이에 대해 지속적인 품질관리가 요구된다. 일반적으로 수위자료는 단일 지점에서 시간에 따라 수집되므로 시간에 따른 변화 등을 이용하여 수위자료의 오류 여부를 판단한다. 하지만 실제 수위자료는 상류와 하류가 공간적으로 연결되어 있으므로 상 하류의 관계를 비교함으로써 수위자료의 오류 여부를 판단하는 것도 가능할 것이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 하천의 수위자료를 해발수위 자료로 변환하여 하구로부터의 거리를 이용해 도시함으로써 수위 프로파일을 시각화하고 그 변화를 고찰함으로써 수위자료의 시공간적인 변화를 이용해 수위 오류를 찾을 수 있는 시각화 기법을 개발하였다. 그림 1에서 보는 것과 같이 각 관측소 수위의 정상 경사와 역 경사를 시간별로 구분하고 이를 연속적으로 추적함으로써 수위자료의 오류와 수위관측소 제원 정보의 오류 등을 찾는데 도움을 줄 수 있으며, 수위자료에 대한 향상된 품질관리를 가능하게 할 것이다.

  • Six sigma management has obtained good results in manufacturing and service industry as a new innovation approach to improve the enterprise-wise quality processes. However, there are lacks of implementation cases in the construction industry and furthermore, a results from a few cases applied is not successful enough to draw an attraction against the six sigma method. The main goal of this paper is to provide a comparative study regarding the pre-requisite conditions for the application of six sigma to the construction industry. Then, it present a generic procedure model that can support the introduction of six sigma management. Finally, the model is verified through the case study and lessons learned form a case are presented.

  • Recently, the intelligent compaction technology for quality control of earthworks has brought attention as a quality control standard for earthworks. In this study, intelligent compaction technology and earthwork quality control methods were investigated and earthwork quality control procedures using intelligent compaction technology were considered based on field tests. Through the field compaction test of the silty sand (SM) fill material, it was confirmed that CMV and bearing capcaity index from plate load tests increased as the number of compactions increased. Based on the field test data, the average CMV and quality control target CMV were derived. The target CMV (34.2) was calculated through the correlation with the bearing capacity index of the plate load test, and the target CMV (36.6) was calculated through the analysis of the CMV increase rate. In this paper, the on-site compaction quality management procedure and methodology using intelligent compaction technology were discussed, and an intelligent compaction quality management method was proposed to promote the applicability of the technology.

  • Standardization to information attribute of construction material is continuous demanded through the life cycle of a construction project, and the productivity elevation is derived of contribution effect in construction market. This study surveyed the means of acquisition and attribute of information to a staff in purchase, which are effected on the revitalization of information circulation to the construction material Proposed the standardization to information attribute of construction material that is based on improvement and application to the information attribute. And information attribute is classified with construction process through analysis on test list of quality certification. This study also suggested representative attribute of quality information, for the elevation of safety and quality in construction industry. Therefore, logicality of common information is based by analysis of mathematical statistics, systemicity of quality information is applied by MasterFormat(2004)

  • The CM(Construction Management) market has been growing steadily since 2000, but there are a lot of obstructing factors. Recently, many questions have been raised over the level of construction managers' technique, the appropriateness and efficiency of CM, and the performance of using CM because of its short history. In this respect, evaluating CM service quality is a very important issue not only to acquire a better position in unlimited competence markets but also to survive. Therefore, the objective of this study is to present a service quality evaluating model which can be adopted to CM companies.

  • Recently construction companies expand position for apartment house in construction market because of house supply rate increase and its amount. In addition, because the focus of house sale market has moved to customer from supplier, the importance of defect management is being issued currently. However, current apartment defect management is not satisfied with customer's demand for the lack of business process management, management organization, information feedback, and readiness for defect in construction phase. To solve this problem, this study proposed business process management improvement model for defect management. Proposed improvement model make information feedback, defect management business quality improvement, and improper process improvement through integrating defect management and quality management. It is expected to contribute to customer's satisfaction improvement and reliance improvement for construction companies.

Development of Individual Temporary Equipment Material/Quality/Delivery Management Standards(Guide) for Temporary Equipment Rental Company (가설기자재 임대업체를 위한 개별 가설기자재 자재/품질/납품관리 기준(Guide) 개발)

  • Due to the distribution structure of domestic temporary equipment, quality control of temporary equipment is essential because more than 80% of temporary equipment is repeated and reused. Due to this importance, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has proposed quality management standards for temporary equipment for 10types of temporary equipments, including steel pipe support, but the overall quality of temporary eqipment cannot be confirmed because the quality is managed through sampling quality tests. In addition, although quality control standards exist for temporary material rental company, practical utilization was investigated and analyzed to be very low as they are mainly presented based on qualitative inspection standards by visual inspection. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop individual temporary material/quality/delivery management standards (Guides) for temporary equipment rental company to preemptively secure the quality of temporary equipment before bringing them into the construction site. If the standards developed through this study are applied to domestic temporary equipment rental companies, it is expected that high-quality temporary equipment with secured quality will be brought into the construction site as the quality of temporary equipment quality of domestic medium and small temporary equipment rental companies is improved safety accidents related to temporary structures.
