  • This study examines the factors contributing to waterfront satisfaction among different generations, utilizing a survey on the use and perception of waterfront areas by residents of apartment houses in Tokyo's coastal region. The variables used in this study are developed through a review of existing literature, focusing on factors related to waterfront usage. Specifically, we select the proximity to the waterfront, duration of stay at the waterfront, and frequency of visits to the waterfront as key variables for investigation. In addition, the study further incorporates aspects related to waterfront recognition, such as the space, user behavior, and management status of the waterfront. Utilizing these variables, we carry out a correlation analysis to investigate the association between generational use and perception of the waterfront and their satisfaction with water-related experiences. The results identify three key factors to enhance waterfront satisfaction: First, to increase visits from both younger and older generations, improving pedestrian access to the waterfront is essential. Second, for middle-aged and older generations, creating waterfront areas closer to their residences can reduce travel distance and time, encouraging more frequent use. Third, maintaining clean and well-kept waterfront spaces is fundamental for all generations to enjoy relaxing experiences, thereby improving overall satisfaction.

The samples included 177 elderly who lived in 'D' city was selected. Data were collected and analyzed using questionnaires for 13 days from May 13 to May 25, 2013. 3 factors of research models had a significant model fit and correlation. The key research findings are as follows. First, the more social support they have, the more knowledge of drug they tend to have(${\beta}$=.515, p=.005). Second, direct effect that social support led to drug abuse was significant.(${\beta}$=-.769, p=.002) However the indirect effect was not significant(${\beta}$=.036, p=.671). Third, the indirect effect that social support led to drug abuse was not significant, which means it has no mediating effect. Social support turned out to be very important factor in this research, but other preceding research mentioned that knowledge of drug is an important factor which could reduce drug abuse. • This study examined the perceptions of and attitude towards mixed-race and investigated the factors affecting them and their influence on discriminative behavior. For the study, a survey was conducted with residents residing in Seoul and its suburb. The results showed that the perceptions of and attitudes towards mixed-race, generally, were not so negative and positive in all three types of mixed-race, Caucasian-korean, Asian-korean, and African-korean. In addition, the perceptions of and attitudes toward mixed-race were partly different by the type of mixed race. That is, there were more positive perceptions of and more favorable attitudes towards the Caucasian-korean in Asian-korean and African-korean, and there were less positive perceptions of and less favorable attitudes towards Asian-korean than in African-korean. With regard to the factors affecting the perceptions and attitudes, racism was a factor affecting commonly the perception of and attitudes towards all types of mixed-race. The attitudes towards mixed-race had an influence on the discriminative behavior in all types of mixed-race, and, only in the African-korean, the perception of mixed race affected the discriminative behavior. These results suggest insights for what efforts should be made to improve mixed-race's welfare.

The purpose of this study is to examine the parenting stress as a predictor of child abuse potential. For this study, 150 parents of children with disabilities were recruited. A personal questionnaire, parenting stress index, and potential factors of child abuse were responded. According to the results, parents who have children with disabilities reported high parenting stress and also parenting stress significantly affected parents' attitudes toward child abuse. Income, level of education, social involvement, governmental support, and social services for disabled were related to parenting stress and child abuse. Stepwise multiple regression analysis identified the variables of social involvement and social services for disabled as the most important variables in explaining parenting stress and child abuse. This study suggests that social supports and services for the parents of children with disabilities should be provided.

Planning of $2^{nd}$ and $3^{rd}$ wave program were based on reflection of $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ program evaluation respectively. Among the 46 participants, 93.48% (N=43) completed the program. The quantitative evaluation showed statistically significant improvement in HbA1C(p<.001), fasting plasma glucose(p<.001), BMI(p=.016), waist circumference(p=.001), systolic blood pressure(p=.036), diabetes self-management behavior(p<.001) and health knowledge(p=.008). Qualitative data revealed that individual management was very helpful in empowering and adhering for own diabetes care for the participants. Participants reported high satisfaction towards the program with mean satisfaction score of 65.12. Application of the Diabetes Self-management program with action study strategy was successful in community setting for improving participants' subjective and objective outcomes. Action research method guides the practitioner to tailor the program to respond for the participants and field needs.

  • This paper aims at examining the ways in which foreign immigrant workers in South Korea have been "forgotten" and "marginalized" in the regulatory politics of globalization and how the politics of "forgetting" has influenced the formation of immigrant local communities in South Korea. More specifically, by focusing on the immigrant community in Wongok dong, Ansan, it explores the forming questions. First, under what conditions has Wongok' dong become one of the biggest communities for foreign workers in South Korea? Second, how has the growth of the Wongok-dong immigrant community been influenced by the politics of "exclusion", and "inclusion" taking place at various geographical scales? Based on this case study, this paper suggests that the practices of "exclusion" and "forgetting" should not be seen as an inevitable outcome of globalization; instead, they need to be seen as an outcome of political processes, in which the practices of "exclusion" and "inclusion" are intertwined with one another through interactions and negotiations among different interests and ideas that take place in the multi-scalar regulatory processes, which contribute to the (material and discursive) construction of globalization.
