Performance of UWB Ranging in Multipath and Multiuser Environments (다중경로 다중사용자 환경에서의 초광대역 거리추정의 성능 분석)

  • Ultra-wideband (UWB) ranging poses a set of time delay estimation problems for designers. The possibility of a large error can be a challenging problem for accurate ranging and positioning. An approximate analysis of large error performance of UWB ranging in multipath and multiuser environments is posed. Both analytical and experimental approaches are taken to evaluate the large error variance in a correlation-based serial search scenario.

  • 본 논문에서는 초기 부호책을 구하는 방법으로 가장 널리 쓰이는 이분 미소분리 방법의 탐색시간을 줄이기 위한 고속 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 학습벡터가 소속되는 부호벡터를 찾기 위하여 기존의 방법과 같이 모든 부호벡터와의 거리오차를 계산하지 않고, 이전에 소속된 클래스에서 미소분리된 부호벡터와의 거리오차 만을 비교하여 학습벡터의 소속 여부를 결정함으로써 계산량을 크게 줄일 수 있다. 제안된 방법으로 생성된 초기 부호책과 기존의 이분 미소분리 방법으로 생성된 초기 부호책을 사용하여 K-means 알고리즘을 수행한 결과 초기 부호책의 성능 차이는 거의 없었지만, 계산량은 현저하게 감소되었다.

  • 예측신경회로망 모델은 다층 퍼셉트론을 연속되는 음성특징 벡터간의 비선형예측기로 사용하는 동적인 음성인식 모델이다. 이 모델은 음성의 동적인 특성을 인식에 이용하고 연속음성인식으로의 확장이 용이한 우수한 인식 모델이다. 그러나, 예측신경회로망 모델은 음운학적으로 유사한 음성구간에서의 변별력이 낮다는 문제점이 있다. 그것은 기존의 학습 알고리즘이 다른 어휘와의 거리는 고려하지 않고 대상어휘의 예측오차만 최소화시키기 때문이다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 직접 인식오차를 최소화시키는 GPD알고리즘에 의해 유사어휘간의 거리를 고려하는 변별력있는 학습 알고리즘을 제안한다.

  • Indoor positioning technology has been developed very actively for the smart phone handheld by most users. Especially, many TDOA positioning systems using acoustic signal have been studied, and it estimates the smart phone position by measuring the distance between the smart phone speaker and the microphones which is installed to receive the acoustic signal from the smart phone, and by calculating the hyperbolic equations. But there are always errors for the distance measurements, and furthermore the microphone installation error produces huge position estimation error. In this paper, the position estimation error due to the position error of acoustic sensor in the 3 dimensional TDOA positioning system, is analyzed by PDOP simulation and experiment.

Cognitive Distance Mapping: a Survey-Based Experiment Using GPS and GIS

  • Two primary objectives of this study were to determine important personal factors in performing cognitive distance mapping, and to understand how human's cognitive distance mapping capabilities were influenced by reference and subjects' locations using Global Positioning System (GPS). Undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Kansas, USA were interviewed and surveyed throughout the campus area giving them a paper-and-pencil test. Study results showed that females had more accurate cognitive mapping capability than males regardless of ethnic background and academic levels. Generally, subjects with longer affiliation with the university, higher ages and academic levels had less variability in their mapping accuracy. Subjects tended to more accurately map the target locations closer to the reference points than those located farther away, and subjects who were closer to a reference point performed their distance mapping better than those farther away. A correlation analysis reported that male subjects used reference-to-target and subject-to-reference distances more sensitively than females to estimate the locations of the targets. This result indicates that males might have used the reference point-based map scale more strenuously than females.

  • In this paper, we present a method of applying the kalman filter to control and correct errors in camera sensor recognition depending on the sea state environment. First, the specifications of the ship were described and the degree of error due to rolling was measured. After presenting the distance from the surface of the water to the sidelight required for simulation through PKMR-211, the ship selected as the model, error correction was performed using the camera error value as a variable in the feedback control system. In the experiment, the degree of rolling of the ship was expressed as variables 𝛼 and 𝛽, expressed in angles, and the angle change according to distance was compared. When comparing the error before and after applying the kalman filter in sea state 4, it decreased from +1.5556° to -1.1544° in red light regardless of distance, and the same result was confirmed in green light. Through this, calculations were performed considering the movement of the ship according to the maritime environment, and the future maneuverability of the ship was presented after error correction.

  • Currently in the development of community wireless technology is gaining interest in location-based services and as a result, the importance of the location information is a growing trend. To calculate the location information is being suggested several ways, among them Trilateration is representative. Trilateration is three beacon nodes, the distance between the location in which you want to calculate with information. Beacon from a node to know where to get information when the distance between the obstacle and the distance error caused by the surrounding environment, which leads to the exact location can not be obtained. Currently due to distance error, location information has a variety of algorithms to reduce the error. However, a systematic analysis of these algorithms is not progress. This paper analyzes the location-aware technologies, and the error the distance of the location information to reduce errors in the various aspects of the algorithm for the systematic and empirical comparison was evaluated through the analysis.

  • Indoor positioning based on trilateration using common chord estimates location of a mobile subject by using intersection points between each circles which the radius is same as distance between the mobile subject and each radio-frequency transmitter. However, if the intersection points are not found due to error of the distance measurement, it causes failure of estimating the mobile subject's location. To prevent this case, numbers which is proportionate to radius of each circles, are temporarily added to each distances in order to lengthen radius of the circles. Although the estimated location includes error due to the radius extension, it is corrected again by the added value and distance from reference point. With introduction of the advanced correction algorithm, potential issues of existing trilateration such as failure of estimating location and distance measurement error will be minimized.

  • In this paper, the performances of virtual reference station (VRS) and flächen korrektur parameter (FKP) based Network real time kinematics (RTK) according to baseline length were compared and analyzed. We applied the VRS and FKP corrections for each baseline length obtained from National Geographic Information Institute Network RTK services to an FKP-supported commercial receiver and analyzed the RTK results in the range and position domains. In the case of VRS, RTK performance was degraded due to the spatial error, which increase in proportion of the baseline length. On the other hand, FKP compensates for spatial errors by using the gradients of dispersive and non-dispersive errors, so it showed stable RTK performance compared to VRS even if the baseline length increases up to 130 km. However, in the case of long baseline of 150 km or more, integer ambiguities were incorrectly fixed due to the decrease in the performance of the FKP corrections.
