  • Instruments are installed in soft ground improvement projects to manage economic and safe construction. When analyzing data, the amount of settlement data over time can be used to understand the overall ground settlement behavior, but it is difficult to analyze the interrelatedness between measurement points. Therefore, to analyze the relative compressive settlement behavior between measurement points, the settlement amount and velocity were processed and defined as the mean settlement difference index (ASi,j) and the slope difference index (SDIi,j). Plotted in the mean settlement difference index - slope difference index (ASi,j-SDIi,j) coordinate system. As a result of the analysis of the relative compaction subsidence behavior between the measuring points, the relationship between the measuring points in the average subsidence difference index - slope difference index coordinate system moved to area 1 as the compaction was completed. By continuously plotting the movement path of the observation point in the corresponding coordinate system, the relative settlement behavior between the measurement points was analyzed, and it was possible to check whether the settlement behavior of the two measurement points was stable or unstable depending on the direction of the path.

  • The structures built under the groundwater level are affected by the buoyancy force, which is hydrostatic pressure in the up direction. Recently, buoyancy-resistant anchor method has been applied in many cases of the construction of the important structure of large size, which is built under the groundwater level so that it takes high uplift pressure. Even if the construction cost of the method is very high, it surely increases the safety rate. However, the diagnosis of the performance of the buoyancy-resistant permanent anchor and the investigation of resistance mechanism are still insufficient. Especially, the long-term behavior of the anchor has not been studied well due to the difficulty in observation procedure. The contribution of this paper is the establishment of reasonable design methodology. We have measured anchor axial forces for 10 years after the construction, by using an automated measurement and a manual measurement by establishing a load cell in anchor head. Through the data collected from the measurements, we analyze the construction-step behavior of the anchor according to the self-weight variation of the building and the long-term behavior (i.e. movement within 10 years after the construction) of the anchor according to the passage of time.

  • In this paper, a low-cost dynamic measurement system using the RGB-depth camera, Microsoft $Kinect^{(R)}$ v2, is proposed for measuring time-varying free surface motion of liquid dampers used in building vibration mitigation. Various experimental studies are conducted consecutively: performance evaluation and validation of the $Kinect^{(R)}$ v2, real-time monitoring using the $Kinect^{(R)}$ v2 SDK(software development kits), point cloud acquisition of liquid free surface in the 3D space, comparison with the existing video sensing technology. Utilizing the proposed $Kinect^{(R)}$ v2-based measurement system in this study, dynamic behavior of liquid in a laboratory-scaled small tank under a wide frequency range of input excitation is experimentally analyzed.

  • Landslide, one of the serious natural disasters, has Incurred a large loss of human and material resources. Recently, many forecasting or alarm systems based on various kinds of measuring equipment have been developed to reduce the damage of landslide. However, only a few of these equipments are guaranteed to evaluate the safety of whole side of land slope with their accessibility to the slope. In this study, we performed some experiments to evaluate the applicability of a terrestrial LiDAR as a surveying tool to measure the displacement of a land slope surface far a slope collapsing protection system. In the experiments, we had applied a slope stability method to a land slope and then forced to this slope with a load increasing step by step. In each step, we measured the slope surface with both a total station and a terrestrial LiDAR simultaneously. As the result of Slope Fracturing analysis using all targets, the LiDAR system showed that three was 1cm RMSE on X-axis, irregularity errors on Y-axis and few errors on Z-axis compare with Total Station. As the result of Slope Fracturing analysis using continuous targets, the pattern of Slope Fracturing was different according to the location of continuous targets and we could detect a continuous change which couldn't be found using Total station. The accuracy of the LiDAR data was evaluated to be comparable to that of the total station data. We found that a LiDAR system was appropriate to measuring the behaviour of land slope. The LiDAR data can cover the whole surface of the land slope, whereas the total station data are available on a small number of targets. Moreover, we extracted more detail information about the behavior of land slope such as the volume and profile changes using the LiDAR data.

  • The failure of cut slopes frequently occurs particularly during the thawing season and the rain season in summer. This study interpreted data collected from site to which a real-monitoring system was applied in order to analyze the causes of ground behaviors and to forecast future slope failure. As for research methods, this study analyzed the size and mechanism of failure by integrating the results of field surveys and measurements. Furthermore, it analyzed data transmitted by the monitoring system installed in the a result, three times of ground displacement occurred as well as a number of partial tension cracks. The cut slope composed of sandstone and siltstone started its initial behavior as a result of torrential downpour and the loss of support of the substructure. For quantitative analysis of the characteristics of ground behavior, this study measured 5 lateral lines. According to the result of the measurement, displacement happened little in the section to which countermeasure had been applied, but displacement of maximum 400mm happened in the section to which countermeasure had not bee applied. The analysis of data on displacement and rainfall suggested a close relationship between ground behavior and rainfall. According to the result of stability interpretation along with the change of ground saturation, stability rate appeared to be less than 1.0 when ground saturation is over 55%. Although the current trend of ground behavior is at a stable stage falling within the range of tolerance, it is considered necessary to continue monitoring and data analysis because ground displacement is highly possible with the change of temperature during the winter.

  • Several sensor systems are used to estimate and predict the slope behaviors, however though slope sensing systems are much up-to-dated compared to before, they are mainly focused on the hardware developing. It means the analyzing software is deficient to apply the examining slope behavior for slope stability. In real case, slope behavior shows the 3-dimensional movement and failure; however the modeling methods for 3-D behavior are more difficult and need more variables. 1-D analysis shows only the length variation, however the real slope makes the 3-D behaviors. To fix the 3-D space coordinate, three values should be determined such as length, horizontal angle and vertical angle. Therefore if the 3-D coordinate system were composed by the points considered of two directions and length, the 3-D space could be separated into horizontal plane and vertical plane. The data from DY-slope in Chungbuk province was analyzed to the developed 3-D coordinate system. It is concluded from the results of 3-D analysis, the slope is generally moving to transverse direction, also the displacements are happening to road and vertical direction at the same time. Presently, the accumulated displacement between sensing points shows small value within 4.3 cm, and the displacements of all sensing points show the similar directions and magnitudes.
