This study analyzed variation of tidal channels associated with Shihwa reclamation project for corresponding observation period based on remote sensing approaches. The project period was subdivided to developing period, closed period, and open period based on developing and management plan of Shiwa lake, and number, length, width, and direction of tidal channels for each period were analyzed using CORONA, Landsat 5 TM, Landsat 7 ETM+, and orthorectified aerial photographs. Number of tidal channels decreased from developing to opening period while $3^{rd}$ order channles did not show noticeable changes. The length of tidal channels decreased during developing to closed period, and increasing trend of $2^{nd}$ and $3^{rd}$ order channels was observed for the opening period. The average widtrh of $2^{nd}$ and $3^{rd}$ order channels decreased from developing to closed period, and increased during open period. The direction of tidal channels showed NW and NE direction in general, while the rose diagram showed deacrased frequency of NE direction and increased frequency of NW direction during the open period. These variations in tidal channels are considered to be related to changes in tidal energy environment, where stable energy environment before the project was changed to disconnection of tidal energy by closed environment, and re-connection of the energy during the open period.

To preserve and restore tidal flats and prevent safety accidents, it is necessary to construct tidal flat topographic information including the exact location and shape of tidal creeks. In the tidal flats where the field surveying is difficult to apply, airborne LiDAR surveying can provide accurate terrain data for a wide area. On the other hand, we can economically obtain relatively high-resolution data from UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) surveying. In this study, we proposed the methodology to generate high-resolution topographic information of tidal flats effectively by integrating airborne LiDAR and UAV point clouds. For the purpose, automatic ICP (Iterative Closest Points) registration between two different datasets was conducted and tidal creeks were extracted by applying CSF (Cloth Simulation Filtering) algorithm. Then, we integrated high-density UAV data for tidal creeks and airborne LiDAR data for flat grounds. DEM (Digital Elevation Model) and tidal flat area and depth were generated from the integrated data to construct high-resolution topographic information for large-scale tidal flat map creation. As a result, UAV data was registered without GCP (Ground Control Point), and integrated data including detailed topographic information of tidal creeks with a relatively small data size was generated.
The tidal channel is a coastal sedimentary terrain that plays the most important role in the formation and development of tidal flats, and is considered a very important index for understanding and distribution of tidal flat sedimentation/erosion terrain. The purpose of this study is to understand the changes in tidal channels by a period after the opening of the floodgate of the seawall in the reclaimed land of Sihwa Lake using KOMPSAT high-resolution multispectral satellite image data and to evaluate the applicability and efficiency of high-resolution satellite images. KOMPSAT 2 and 3 images were used for extraction of the tidal channels' lineaments in 2009, 2014, and 2019 and were applied to supervised classification method based on Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Artificial Neural Net (ANN), Matched Filtering (MF), and Spectral Angle Mapper (SAM) and band ratio techniques using Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) and MF/SAM. For verification, a numerical map of the National Geographic Information Service and Landsat 7 ETM+ image data were utilized. As a result, KOMPSAT data showed great agreement with the verification data compared to the Landsat 7 images for detecting a direction and distribution pattern of the tidal channels. However, it has been confirmed that there will be limitations in identifying the distribution of tidal channels' density and providing meaningful information related to the development of the sedimentary process. This research is expected to present the possibility of utilizing KOMPSAT image-based high-resolution remote exploration as a way of responding to domestic intertidal environmental issues, and to be used as basic research for providing multi-platform-image-based convergent thematic maps and topics.

Through the ISODATA method of unsupervised classification, the micro-landform of Gomso-Bay tidal flat was classified into mud, mixed, and sand flats by using Landsat TM image. Each tidal flat shows on apparent differences in its topographical characteristics and grain size compositions. Mud flat is occupied the innermost part of the tidal flat. Sand flat is distributed adjacent to the entrance of the bay, while the mixed one is located in the central part of the bay. Mud flat deposits have fine grain size, more than 4 in average mean phi, bad sorting, more than 1 phi in standard devation, and positive skewness. Mixed and sand flat deposits have coarse grain size, less than 4 average mean phi, good sorting, less than 1 phi in standard daviation, and negative skewness. Topographically, the mud flat consists of flat surfaces and dissected channels. The average depth of dissected channels is about 2 meters. Meanwhile, sand flat has a very flat landform with well-developed ripple marks of less than 10 centimeters in average relief. And the mixed one shows the intermediate topographical characteristics of those of mud and sand flats.

Seasonal variation in species composition and abundance of fish assemblage in the tidal creek of Sangnae-ri Suncheon, Korea were studied using monthly samples collected by a push net from April 2011 to March 2012. During the study period, a total of 1,095 individuals belonging to 13 species in 6 families were collected. The dominant fish species were Tridentiger bifasciatus, Mugil cephalus and Favonigobius gymnauchen. These three fish species accounted for 86.6% of the total number of individuals collected. The number of fish species, number of individuals, biomass fluctuated with season showing a low value in winter and high value in spring.
Through the ISODATA method of unsupervised classification, the micro-landform of Julpo-Bay tidal flat was classified into mudflat, mixedflat, and sandflat using Landsat TM image. Each showed an apparent differences in its topographical characteristics and grain size composition. Mudflat occupied innermost part of the tidal flat, sandflat located closest to the entrance of the bay and mixed flat in the center is. For example, mudlflats are formed with flat faces and tidal channel. Topographically, mudflat consist of tidal channels and flat intermediate surface. Its average relief of them is about 2 meter. Meanwhile, sandflat comprised very flat landform with well-developed ripple marks of less than 10cm average relief. And Mixed flat stood in between. In addition, Out of 7 bands of Landsat TM images, band 5 and 7 provided the highest power level for discrimination between micro-landforms of the tidal flat. Band 4 showed a clear boundary between the land and tidal flat, and band 3 did its share by showing well a boundary between the sea surface and the tidal flat.

The feeding habits of Tridentiger bifasciatus were studied using 733 individuals collected in the tidal creek at Sangnae-ri, Suncheon, Korea, using a push net, monthly, from April 2011 to March 2012. The standard length (SL) of the specimens ranged from 1.5 to 8.2 cm. The stomach content analysis indicated that T. bifasciatus consumed mainly amphipods, such as Corophium sp., while copepods, polychaetes, and shrimps were other important prey species. In addition T. bifasciatus ate small quantities of crab larvae, fish, gastropod larvae, and insects. T. bifasciatus is a generalist that feeds on various zoobenthos, including fish. T. bifasciatus underwent an ontogenetic dietary shift. Smaller individuals (1-2 cm SL) fed mainly on amphipods. The proportion of amphipods decreased as body size increased, whereas the consumption of polychaetes increased gradually. The seasonal variation in the diet composition of T. bifasciatus was significant. Insects were common prey during summer, while the amounts of other prey, including polychaetes, were similar during spring, autumn, and winter.
