A Study on Conceptual Design for Optimum Safety Routing System at the Coastal Sea Area (국내 연안 최적안전항로시스템 개념 설계에 관한 고찰)

  • 세계적 경제변화, $CO_2$ 배출량의 규제, 연료비 상승 등의 원인에 의해 국내외에서 최적항로지원시스템 개발 및 상용화하여 사용중에 있다. 하지만, 대부분 외항상선을 대상으로 하여 기술의 실용화를 위한 실선실험이 행해졌고 내항상선을 대상으로 개발한 사례는 거의 없다. 또한, 국제해사기구(IMO)의 "e-Navigation 전략이행계획" 및 정부의 "한국형 e-Navigation 사업"에 따라 주요 추진전략으로 연구개발 되고 있는 차세대 신(新) 항법시스템의 도입에 예상됨에 따라 국내 연안 최적 안전항로시스템의 새로운 개념 설계가 필요한 시점이다. 본 연구에서는 e-Navigation 체계에서의 최적항로시스템 및 기존의 운용 및 연구개발 중인 최적항로시스템을 분석하고 선박, 육상 및 육해상 통신인프라 등의 시스템 체계를 기본으로 최적안전항로시스템에 적용될 알고리즘을 분석, 시스템의 개념을 설계하고자 한다.

  • Data redundancy is problematic in that it not only induces heavy storage management cost but also could bring critical degradation of information systems. Unfortunately, to our knowledge, only few enterprises willingly afford time and efforts for the faithful conceptual design to prevent the degree of inappropriate data as much as they could, while most of enterprises pay rare attention to the notion of that sort of data quality. Wondering if there would be any other way to design the enterprise.wide data design without prior knowledge about business works is our major motivation for this study. In this paper, we present our data modeling methodology in which associations among objects in each sentences of a business job descriptions are treated as the focal point in database design. A proposed agent for automated design tool simply takes a business job description written in natural language as an input, and then designs an entity relationship diagram with some smart rules. We introduce the scope of the proposed agent and its detailed logics with several examples. And then, we verify the appropriateness of the resulted associations among objects. Lastly, we perform case studies to evaluate the devised agent's applicability to a business field.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and illustrate methods of applying trade-off techniques to landing craft air cushion design evaluation. The problem areas of concern are the application of quantitative analytical methods to conceptual design. The interrelationships between composite system measures and selected performance requirements(speed, cruising range, cargo etc.) are analyzed and the expressions for gross weight are developed as functions of performance parameters. Trade-offs of performance parameters in terms of weight are then calculated. The application of these results to evaluation of Require Operational Capabilities are illustrated.

  • In this paper is studied a theoretical approach to predict structural performances and weight reduction rates of a carbody with shell type sections in case that its materials have to be substituted. For the material substitution design of a carbody, bending, axial and twisting deformations are considered under constant stiffness and strength conditions, which utilizes some new indices derived from a structural point of view. The developed indices to measure the weight reduction by the material substitution give good guidelines on conceptual design of carbodies.

  • In August 2012 the first CanSat competition was hosted by the Satellite Research Center of KAIST under auspice of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. The present authors team won the first prize in the university session. In this paper the overall procedure of the CanSat project presented from the conceptual design stage to the final launch test. As the compulsory mission CanSat should send GPS data and attitude information to the ground station which in practice was performed via Bluetooth channel. In addition our CanSat is designed to trace the sun for the solar panels supplying electric power of satellite. IMU and servo motors are used for the attitude control in order that the solar sensor of the CanSat is always direct towards the sun. Launching of CanSat was simulated by dropping from a balloon at the height of around 150m via parachute. Launching test results showed that the attitude control of the CanSat and its solar sensing function were successful.

  • Plant industry is one of technology-intensive and most prosperous industries in Korea because of its recent prosperity and promising outlook in export. However, no Korean EPC company has yet been well prepared in lifting their capacity sufficient enough to get the upstream conceptual or basic design and engineering orders for sizable plant projects which are known as the more value-added. If systems engineering, a methodology which developed complex systems such as airplanes and has been justified its effectiveness in Defense and NASA projects, can be integrated with plant engineering which should be developed and applied based on the requirements of so many stakeholders, conditions, lifecycle concepts, and constraints of the projects, huge synergic effect is expected particularly in developing a specific upstream design, which is a conceptual or basic design. The notion of integration with each other between systems engineering and plant engineering can be really the crux of EPC's success in any plant projects. This paper suggests an approach showing a methodology how to dig out, analyze, evaluate, verify and implement the stakeholders' requirements into a plant design in conceptual phase using the theory and skills of systems engineering. ISO/IEC 15288 well known systems engineering standards is used. Carbon capture system is used for a case study, for it is an emerging technology in reducing emissions of carbon dioxide causing global warming from flue gas after combustion. Here systems engineering was proven to play a substantial role in enhancing the capability of designers in developing a conceptual design of whole plant or certain part of crucial plant systems.

  • Research on urban air mobility (UAM) is being actively conducted as a method of next-generation transportation. eVTOL, an airplane to be used for urban air mobility, is classified into a complex type, a tilt rotor type, a tilt wing type, a tilt duct fan type, and a multicopter type according to the propulsion method. In this study, conceptual design was performed for the next generation eVTOL of the new tilt rotor type in accordance with the existing design requirements. The aerodynamic analysis programs of OpenVSP and XFLR5 were used to perform aerodynamic analysis. The power required for each flight mission stage was calculated, the battery and motor were selected accordingly, and MTOW (Maximum Take-Off Weight) was predicted by estimating the weight of each component.

  • Despite various economic crises, the domestic parcel delivery market handled 3.37 billion parcels in 2020 while maintaining annual growth due to the activation of e-commerce. In particular, in the case of the metropolitan area, which accounts for about 70% of the nation's parcel throughput, the increase in parcel delivery volume is directly related to the increase in freight vehicles in central area of Seoul,. And it leads to an increase of unnecessary social and environmental costs such as traffic congestion, road damage, and environmental pollution in the city. Therefore, in this paper we proposed the underground urban logistics system utilizing the existing urban rail infrastructure, and establish a conceptual design by operational scenario. In order to establish conceptual design of underground urban logistics system, we use order picking system process, which is use in warehouse, produce result combined ISO/IEC 26702. The results of this study can be usefully used before the underground urban logistics system is introduced.

  • Gearboxes for power transmission of a rotorcraft transfer power generated by an engine to the fan and the pusher for up, down and forward flight. The gearboxes are divided into the main gearbox and the sub-gearbox. The main goal of the gearbox design is to design the weight as light as possible within a range that satisfies all given requirements (transmission power, mounting space, etc.). In particular, the initial conceptual design is very important to reduce the weight of the gearbox, since the weight can vary greatly depending on the system configuration, even if it has the same function. In this study, various conceptual designs of the gearbox according to the installation position of the engine were presented. Also, the element parts such as gears and bearings in each concept design were designed by sizing for their life, and the estimated weights of the conceptual system configuration were compared.
