  • Recently, as recognizing the risk about the infection of an infectious wastes, the problems about the management and treatment of the infectious wastes stand out socially. In this paper, as being possible monitoring whole processing from the origin of the infectious waste to the processing plant, using the RFID which is the kernel technology of the next generation, we tried to solve the second infection problem by inefficient treatment of the infectious wastes. Through the research suggesting in this paper, as storing and monitoring the procedural business articles and the problem about miss-writing and input error being found in management system like documentary writing by the existing manager and computation input by the web application, we can understand the management state, immediately. And the Bio information for the personal authentication is carried out through storing the feature vector calculation by the PCA algorithm, into the tag. It suggested more systematic and safer management plan than previous thing, as giving attention about the wastes to manager.

  • This is a convergence study to present strategies for performance enhancement by verifying the causal relationship between the influencing factor on the performance of the healthcare-associated infection control guidelines in hospital nurses. Participants were 388 nurses recruited from 16 different tertiary and general hospitals in Korea. Data collection was conducted using self-report questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 programs. The overall fitness was ${\chi}^2=99.64$ (df=14, p<.01), GFI=.94, RMSEA=.10, NFI=.84, CFI=.90. The explanatory power of predictive variables on intention were 23.8%, and those on behavior were 17.7%. As a result of this study, it was found that TPB is an appropriate theory to explain the performance of healthcare-associated infection control guidelines, and repeated studies including multi-level modeling of career experience and organizational influences on behavior with strong social characteristics are needed.

  • This study examined the interrelationship between the evaluation indicators of communicable disease control and prevention activities, and the communicable disease incidence data. This study analyzed the incidence data of communicable disease in local governments of south Korea and evaluated the data of communicable disease control and prevention activities by the Ministry of Health of the central government in South Korea during 2004-2005. Frequency analysis was carried out to understand the character of the participant, t-test to compare the mean value between the two groups and stepwise multiple regression analysis to understand the significance between the dependent and independent variables. In this study, the finance related to communicable diseases (group I diseases in both city and rural center), keep rate of periodic reports on notifiable communicable diseases based on the law for communicable disease control and prevention (group II in city), the level of education on personal hygiene (group II in rural center), level of education on AIDS prevention and the reporting rate of cases of tuberculosis (group III in city), and reporting rate of incident cases of tuberculosis (tuberculosis and Hansen disease in both rural and city) were significant indicators. The level of education on AIDS prevention and the reporting rate of the cases of tuberculosis (in city), and number of adverse reactions after immunization (in rural area), reporting rate of cases of tuberculosis (in total center) were significant indicators in total communicable disease and all types of public health centers. The authors verified core evaluation indicators as actual proof. This study provides useful data for a summative evaluation, standardization, and guidelines on communicable disease control and prevention activities of public health centers and local government.

  • The purpose of this study is to make suggestions for the infectious disease surveillance systems as part of the government's healthcare policy intended to minimize damage by implementing an appropriate and swift crisis management in the event of future infectious disease outbreaks. To that end, this descriptive study analyzes the infectious disease outbreaks and the management and control thereof in Korea and other countries, so as to suggest some approaches to infectious disease surveillance systems applicable to affected regions. The analysis results shed light on the causes of the spread of future infectious diseases over the past years, and the management systems that could possibly deal with the trial and error in the response policy. It seems crucial to roll out appropriate information, training and promotion programs as part of the national disaster response systems to prevent infectious diseases in relation to the roles of multiple relevant government agencies in the event of disasters especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing performance of MultiDrug-Resistant Organisms (MDROs) infection control by nurses in general hospitals. Methods: The research design was a descriptive survey design using convenience sampling. Data were collected from 130 nurses working in 6 general hospitals. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21.0 program for descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression analysis. Results: General hospital nurses' MDROs infection control performance was influenced by their awareness of environmental safety, recognition of MDROs infection control, number of beds in the hospital, whether nurses had nursing experience with infection control and guidelines for MDROs infection control. The most important predictors of MDROs infection control performance were awareness of environmental safety and recognition of MDROs infection control. Conclusion: Findings indicate that it is necessary to include content related to awareness of environmental safety and recognition of infection control in developing MDROs infection control education programs for general hospital nurses.
