Effect of Gamma Irradiation and Post-Irradaition Treatment of Preservatives on the Cut Flower Longevity of Rose and Mum. (감마선 조사와 조사 후 보존제 처리가 절화 장미 및 국화의 수명에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to determine the effect of dose and timing of gamma irradiation and post-irradiation treatment with some preservatives of cut flowers on their longevity of rose and chrysanthemum. Cut roses which were soaked in 2% sugar solution persist to 0.75 kGy irradiation treatments. In post-treatments with some preservative solutions, the mixture group of 2% sucrose,2000m silver nitrate and 3.0% crysal were available in flower quality, but the 200 ppm silver nitrate solution treatment showed serious blackening of floral stems and resulted On negative effect in flower quality. Effect of gamma irradiation and all preservative solutions on the cut mum longevity were showed almost same tendency with rose cut flower longevity experiments. The 2% sugar dipping solution in mum cut flower showed the most superior preservative effect compared with the my other preservative solutions tested. Also non-irradiated treatment extended to flower up to complete wilt.

제어봉 낙하 반응도 측정에서 중성자원, 감마, 중성자 분포 함수의 복합적인 영향 분석

  • 임계 근처에서 반응도 미터로 계단식 반응도 변화를 측정할 때는 중성자원과 감마의 영향 하에서도 정확한 반응도를 결정할 수 있으며, 중성자원과 감마를 측정할 수도 있다. 중성자원과 감마의 영향은 없으나 중성자 분포 함수만 변하는 경우에는 계산으로 예측한 분포 함수의 변화로 측정된 중성자 신호를 보정하여 반응도를 예측할 수 있다. 그러나 중성자원, 감마, 분포 함수가 복합적으로 작용하는 경우에 대하여는 이러한 방법을 적용할 수 없다. 이 매 중성자원과 감마의 영향만 있는 경우에 적용하는 방법을 쓰면 분포 함수의 변화가 측정 결과에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 분석하였다. 그 결과 분포 함수의 변화도 어느 정도 측정이 가능하며, 계산으로 예측하는 분포 함수의 변화로 측정 결과를 단순 보정하여 실제 반응도를 예측할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

옥수수 전분 추출공정 및 물성개선을 위한 방사선의 이용연구

  • 옥수수 전분의 추출공정 개선 연구의 일환으로 메 밀 찰옥수수에 0-10 kGy범위의 감마선을 조사한 후 전분 추출시험과 추출전분의 이화학적 특성을 펴가하였다. 적정선량 범위의 감마선조사는 전분추출을 위한 침지시간을 기존 50시간에서 40시간으로 단축 시킬 수 있었으며, 환경기준 물질인 옥수수침지액(아황산용액)의 농도를 기존 0.8-1.2% 에서 0.2%로 크게 감소시킬 수 있었다. 또한 옥수수전분 추출액에 있어서 감마선 조사된 메옥수수와 찰옥수수는 비조사군에 비해 10-30% 이상의 추출율 증대효과를 나타내었다. 추 전분의 이화학적 특성시험에있어서는 두 시료 모두 감마선조사에 의해 alkaili number와 광투과도가 크게 증가 하였으며, 물 결합능력 및 swelling power는 다소 감소하는 경향이었다.전분의 색도는 조사군과 비조사군 사이에 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 효소반응 시험에서는 감마선 조사량이 증가함에 따라 효소반응 생성물인 포도당과 환원당 함량이 크게 증가하였다. Amylograph에 의한 물성시험에서는 감마선조사에 의해 전분호화액의 점도는 감소되었고, 그 경향은 메옥수수보다 찰옥수수에서 더욱 현저하였다. 또한 감마선의 이용은 옥수수 전분의 breakdown ratio 및 setback ratio를 향상시킬 수 있어 식품가공에서 전분의 고존도 사입 가능성을 시사하였다. 시사하였다.

  • A shielding calculation has been carried out for a storage vault of $5292(42{\times}42{\times}3)$ waste drums in which the mixed radioactive gamma-emitters are contained. The required ordinary concrete shielding thickness seems to be approximately 50cm. The results in terms of dose rate for polyenergy gammas appear to be considerably higher than those of the averaged energy gamma.

Microbiological and Genotoxicological Safety of Gamma-Irradiated Chicken (감마선조사 닭고기의 미생물학적 및 유전독성학적 안전성 평가)

  • Gamma irradiation (1-10 kGy) was applied to chicken for the evaluation of their microbiological safety and possible genotoxicity. In 3 kGy-irradiated sample, the growth of psychrophile was inhibited about 1.5 log cycles and no cells were recovered in total microbial counts. All kinds of contaminated microorganism were sterilized by 7 kGy-irradiation. Also, irradiation followed by freeze-storage at the same time was very effective in inhibiting bacterial growth. The genotoxicity of 10 kGy-irradiated chicken was evaluated by Salmonella Typhimurium reversion assay and in vivo micronucleus assay using mouse bone marrow cells. The results were negative in the bacterial reversion assay with S. Typhimurium TA98, TA100, TA1535, and TA1539. Clastogenic effects were not shown in vivo mouse micronucleus assay at 10 kGy-dose tested.

The Improvement of Corn Starch Isolation Process by Gamma Irradiation (옥수수 전분추출 공정개선을 위한 감마선 이용)

  • Gamma irradiation was applied to non-glutinous and glutinous corns for improving starch isolation process. No significant changes in proximate composition of corn grains were observed by gamma irradiation. Irradiation at 1 and 5 kGy was effective for sterilizing all contaminated microorganisms of non-glutinous and glutinous corns, respectively. The moisture-uptake rate constants were increased in proportional to the steeping temperature and applied irradiation dose level. The irradiation efficacy on water absorption properties was also recognized in the corns stored for six months at room temperature. The combined use of gamma irradiation with sulfur dioxide solution was very effective for reducing steeping time. The starch yield gradually increased as irradiation dose levels increased. At 2 kGy, the sarch yield of non-glutinous and glutinous corns increased by 38% and 27%, respectively. No significant difference in Hunter's color value was observed between the starches isolated from nonirradiated and irradiated corn grains.

Effects of Gamma Radiation and Methyl Bromide Fumigation on Physiological and Chemical Quality of Apples (감마선과 Methyl Bromide 처리가 사과의 생리화학적 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • ‘Fuji’ apples were treated by gamma irradiation (0 - 3 kGy) or methyl bromide fumigation at commercial conditions (MeBr, 26 g/kg, 4 hr) for quarantine purposes at two different treatment timing after harvest and stored under air at 0$^{\circ}C$ for 4 months. Associated with the treatment timing of irradiation or fumigation, after 40 days of storage at 0$^{\circ}C$ following harvest was more adequate than immediately after harvest in keeping qualities of stored apples. However, more than 2 kGy irradiation and MeBr fumigation were detrimental to physiological and chemical qualities of the fruits. These results show that less than 1 kGy irradiation at the delayed timing has a possibility to be applied as a quarantine procedure without significant changes in the quality of apples.
