Quality changes of satsuma mandarin (Citrus unshiu Marc. var. miyagawa) during storage by storage warehouse were investigated. Citrus were treated with 2000-folds diluted iminoctadime-triacetate solution and 1.5% chitosan with 0.5% CaCl$_2$ solution, and were at 30$\^{C}$ for 24 hr before storage. The citrus of about 12kg/26L plastic container were stored at room temperature, and at 4$\^{C}$ with 87% relative humidity. Decay ratio of citrus with precise temperature and humidity control were lower than the others during storage. Penicillium italicum Monilia candida Alternara citri, Mucor hiemalis, Phomopsis citri Botrytis cinerea, Phoma citricarpa Clomererella cingulata, Penicillium digitatum were identified as putrefactive microorganisms in citrus storage. Weight loss, moisture content of peel and flesh were decreased slowly during storage. 24% of original acid content were decreased at room temperature on 120 days storage, compared to 15∼18% loss on cold storage. Total sugar of citrus was decreased rapidly after 90 days, and vitamin C content were also decreased rapidly after 60 days during storage.

The effects of addition of citrus peel powders (C 0, 0.5, 1 & 2%), dried Lentinus edodes powders (L 0, 0.5, 1 & 2%), and their combination (C-L) on the chemical, sensory and textural properties of pork sausages were studied. Addition of 0.5, 1 or 2% C, L, and C-L all significantly decreased moisture content, pH, and color a-values of sausage samples, whereas ash content and color b-value were increased (p<0.05). C, L, and C-L did not affect protein, fat, carbohydrates contents or texture characteristics. Sensory evaluation was performed by multivariate data analysis, namely principal component analysis (PCA). Eighty-two percent total variation was observed in the main structured information among the test groups: the first (PC1) and second (PC2) components of variation were 59 and 23%, respectively. Eight parameters (sweet flavor, pork aroma, bitterness, rancidity, salty flavor, color, sour flavor and citrus aroma) were utilized to describe the main sensory characteristic of the sausages. Addition of 0.5, 1 & 2% citrus peel was obviously correlated with PC1 (salty flavor, sour flavor and citrus aroma, pork aroma, and sweet flavor and rancidity), whereas addition of 0.5 & 1% Lentinus edodes was related with PC2 (aroma and rancidity).

Early harvested Satsuma mandarin (Citrus unshiu) was treated with hot air at 45$^{\circ}C$ for 2, 4, and 6 hours and stored at 5$^{\circ}C$ for 3 weeks and additional one week at 18$^{\circ}C$ (simulated shelf-life) in order to examine the effect of mild heat treatment on the storage quality of the citrus fruits. Quality attributes of the sample fruits evaluated during storage included the respiration rate, internal gas composition, pH, titratable acidity, soluble solids content, flesh weight loss, firmness, peel color, decay ratio, and sensory properties. The initial respiration rates, just after hot air treatment, were significantly higher in the heat-treated fruits compared to the untreated. However, during storage at 5$^{\circ}C$, the respiration rates showed a similar level in all treatments. Internal gas composition exhibited no significant difference between the heat-treated and untreated samples. Hot air treatment also exerted no significant effects on the pH, titratable acidity, soluble solid contents, flesh weight loss, firmness, and peel color of the fruits during the whole storage period. The decay ratio was manifestly lower in the heat-treated fruits than the untreated. For sensory attributes including visual and organoleptic quality, no significant difference was observed among sample fruits. Results suggested that mild heat treatment with hot air at 45$^{\circ}C$ for 4-6 hours could be used as an effective preconditioning method to keep the postharvest quality of Satsuma mandarin by reducing the decay incidence remarkably during storage.
Quality changes of over-wintering satsuma mandarin (Citrus unshiu Marc. var. miyagawa) during storage by chitosan and calcium treatment and type of storage warehouse were investigated. Citrus were treated with 2000-folds diluted iminoctadime-triacetate solution and 1.5% chitosan with 0.5% CaCl$_2$ solutions and were at 30$\^{C}$ far 24 h before storage. The citrus of about 12 kg/26 L plastic container were stored at room temperature, and at 4$\^{C}$ with 87% relative humidity. Chitosan and CaCl$_2$ solution treated citrus fruits were showed lower in decay ratio than the ones without treatment. Also, these chitosan and calcium treated citrus fruits skewed less in weight loss, that seems it also has restraining effect of fruits' transpiration. Decay ratio of citrus with precise temperature and humidity control were lower than the others during storage. Weight loss, moisture content of peel and flesh were decreased slowly during storage. 0.84 ∼0.90% of acid content were decreased on 120 days' storage. Reducing sugar of citrus was decreased rapidly after 90 days, and vitamin C content were also decreased rapidly after 60 days during storage.

This study was measured weight loss, total ascorbic acid, titratable acidity, soluble solids content and overall appearances to investigate the effect of corrugated fiberboard box coated with functional materials ; R, G, X box, R, G and X box and Con(double wall corrugated fiberboard) box during storage at $25^{\circ}C$. Weight loss of mandarin of control, corrugated paperboard box coated with functional materials(Y-, R-, G-box) after 8 days were 2.56% to 3.67%. There was not different to weight loss among the four kind of packages. Titratable acidity and soluble solids content of packages was not significant. Total ascorbic acid content(TAA) of mandarin packed with R-box and Y-box was 10% higher than that of control after 8 days. Decay ratio of R-box, Y-box, G-box and control was 4%, 10%, 10% and 8%, respectively. Overall appearance of R-box was the best.
Penicillium digitatum SACCARD, P. italicum WEHMER, Botrytis cinerae PERSOON and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum MASSE. were the main storage diseases on the cold injured mandarin at Jeju in 1975. The losses observed through the materials used were $18.3\%$ which consists of $8.1\%$ by diseases and $10.2\%$ by water rot as the result of cold and snow damages at harvest stage in Jeju. The total amount of damages estimated at shipping stage were 915M/T in value of 135 million Won from the rot waste of 675M/T by the end of 1975. Since cold injury is known as the main factor of the fruit rot, shipping and storage process as well as disease control measures are discussed.

A study was conducted to evaluate the effect of $^{60}CO-{\gamma}$ irradiation on the preservation on Satauma mandarin in Cheju Island. Four varieties (S. m. early, S. m. Komezawa, S. m. Hayashi and S. m. Aoshima) were irradiated using 10,000Ci, $^{60}CO-{\gamma}$ ray with dosages of 0, 50, 100 and 150Krad. During 92 days of storage the effects of irradiation on mandarin porperties were as follows: At the end of storage period the accumulated fruit rotting percentage were S. m. Komezawa($T_2$);74.32%, S. m. early($T_1$);69.67%, S. m. Aoshima($T_4$);64.33% and S. m. Hayashi ($T_3$);61.79%. The rottings steadily increased from the early stage of storage and rapid spoilage continued after 59 days of irradiation. A high corelation existed between fruit rotting and varieties ($T_3$;Y=0.78x-15.30, $T_4$;Y=0.79x-12.29, $T_1$;Y=0.93x-9.01 and $T_2$;Y=0.79x-13.49) High dosages(100 and 150 Krad)improved fruit preservation during the mid storage stage. However 76 days after high dose irradiation there was no significant difference a rotting between irradiated fruit and the control. Irradiation decreased acidity of fruit during storage (p<0.01). The mean acidities of examined varieties were $T_1$;1.01%, $T_3$;1.01%, $T_4$;0.84% and $T_2$;0.77%. A significant differences were observed in acidity between varieties and dosages(P<0.01) With one exception in all treatments. the increase in free and total sugar content was not statestically significant. The exception was the 50 Krad treatment where the total sugar content decreased. $T_1$ and $T_4$ showed slightly higher value of than Brix $T_2$ and $T_3$, and were significantly(P<0.01) decreased by higher dosage. The ascorbic acid content in all treatments decreased with length of storage and also decreased significantly with a higher dosage.
Quality changes of citrus tangor(Citrus kiyomi) during storage by chitosan and calcium treatment and storage warehouse were investigated. Citrus fruits were treated with 2000-folds diluted iminoctadime-triacetate solution, and 1.5% chitosan with 0.5% CaC1$_2$solution, and were at 30$^{\circ}C$ for 24 hr before storage. The citrus fruits of about 12 kg/26 L plastic container were stored at 4$^{\circ}C$ with 87% relative humidity. Decay ratio of citrus with precise temperature and humidity control were lower than the others during storage. Weight loss, moisture content of peel and flesh were decreased slowly during storage. 15 ∼ 18% of acid content were decreased on 120 days' storage. Vitamin C content were decreased rapidly during storage. 23 free amino acids were detected. Isoleucine and leucine were not detected, but alanine was detected only on stored citrus. Citrus fruits was kept well on its commodity quality for 3 month at 4$^{\circ}C$ with 87% relative humidity.
This study was carried out to extend a marketing shelf-life of the Jeju greenhouse mandarin fruits. Total soluble solids were not showed any significant differences by the temperatures and pre-treatments during the marketing period. Acid content and firmness of the fruits were gradually decreased, which were better in cold than in room temperature treatment. The fruits washed in electrolyzed acid water(pH 2.4∼2.7) maintained freshness higher than those of control Internal CO$_2$concentration of those was 1.0 % more or less in the beginning marketing stage, but increased along the marketing period in mom temperature. Especially Internal CO$_2$concentration of wax-coated fruits rapidly increased more than any other, whereas it was a little decreased in cold treatment. After 10 days in room temperature, decay ratio of the fruits was below 4.0% in electrolyzed acid water washing, compared to 10.4% in control. After 30 days in cold temperature, decay ratio was only 3.7% in electrolyzed acid water washing compared to 4.4% of wax-coated treatment and 7.4% of control. The weight loss among the pre-treatments in room temperature had no significant differences and was higher than in cold one.
The effect of chitosan and cacium treatment on the quality of satsuma mandarin(Citrus unshiu Marc. var. miyagawa) during storage were investigated. Citrus fruits treated with 2000-folds diluted iminoctadime-triacetate solution or 1.5% chitosan with 0.5% CaCl$_2$ solution were stored at 4$\^{C}$ and 87$\pm$3% relative humidity, and room temperature without humidity control. Decay ratio of chitosan and calcium treated fruits were lower than the ones with no treatment from the mid of February. Also, citrus fruits treated with chitosan and calcium treated less in weight loss, that seems it was derived from restraining of fruits' transpiration. Soluble solids were maintained higher level in chitosan and calcium treated fruits than with no treatment during the storage. Acid contents were decreased gradually lower in cold storage than in room temperature storage, and there was not showed consistent trend among treatments. 26 kinds of free amino acids among 45 standards such as glutamic acid, threonine, serine, alanine γ-amino buryric acid, aspragine and etc were detected in Citrus unshiu Marc. var. miyagawa. As the storage time was prolonged, free amino acid was disappeared more or less, and the deccreasing extent was less in 4$\^{C}$ than in room temperature storage.
