Effects of Violent PC-Games and Aggressive Personality on Aggressive Behavior and Aggressive Intention (폭력적 PC게임의 경험과 공격적 성격특성이 공격행동과 공격의도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study verified the effects of violent PC games and aggressive personality on aggressive behavior and aggressive intention as predicted by GAM in Anderson and Bushman (2002), and a correlational study and experimental research were carried out to corroborate a differences of the effects of the two variables according to the developmental levels. The correlational study showed that aggressive personality was an explanatory variable for aggressive behavior; however, exposure to violent PC games was not a significant factor, contrary to the predictions by GAM. It has been clarified that the effects of the two variables influenced aggressive behavior in a different way according to the developmental levels. Further, no positive relation existed between repetitive (chronic) violent PC game plays and aggressive personality. The experimental research analyzed the differences of aggressive intention in each of the experimental conditions designed with a 2(PC games types: violent vs. non-violent) x 2(aggressive personality: high vs. low) x 2 (developmental levels: middle school boys and college students) between-subjects factorial design. As a result, violent PC games had an effect on aggressive intention for the middle school boy group, while it was supported that aggressive personality had an effect on aggressive intention for both middle school and college students. Noticeably, the primary hypothesis in the study has been supported that the effects of violent PC games and aggressive personality on aggressive intention vary according to different age groups. In conclusion, the effects of violent PC games and aggressive personality as predicted by GAM have been confirmed in parts; however, future studies on GAM must be necessarily supplemented with the developmental perspectives, as it has been ascertained that the effects of the variables vary according to the developmental levels.

  • This study reviews domestic violence characteristics, violence factors, and violence solving from survey reports, to find ideas that support shelter or counseling centers. The research method is a literal review and interview. The results were as follows : First, immigrant women experienced emotional, physical, sexual and economic violence. Domestic violence factors were individual characteristics of korea husbands, culture gaps, communication problems and attitudes of mother-in-laws. Second, coping attitudes for immigrant women were passiveness and overt patience of violence situations. Third, professional social workers or counselors were lacking. There was no network link between related service agencies; in addition. Service content was limited, was a lack support for independence.

Influence of school violence experience on self-identity of adolescents: The moderating effects of the family social capital (청소년기 학교폭력 경험이 자아정체감에 미치는 영향 - 가족 내 사회자본 조절효과 -)

  • This study investigated the descriptive statistics and correlation among self-identity, school violence experience, and family social capital of adolescents and examined influence of school violence experience on self-identity and moderating effect of family social capital on the relationship between school violence experience and self-identity. Data used for analysis was from 7th grade students in The Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey in 2012. Analyses were performed using the IBM SPSS program for demographic analysis, pearson correlation, and stepwise regression analyses. Results of the study were as follows: First, the average was slightly higher for self-identity, parents' affectionate attention, and awareness of their child's friends; the average was lower for misconduct experience and victimization experience; second, there was a weak negative correlation between self-identity and bully victimization; there was a positive correlation between self-identity and family social capital (parents' affectionate attention and awareness of their child's friends). Third, to investigate the effect of school violence experience (bullying and bully victimization) on self-identity, stepwise regression analysis results were as follows: Bullying had a statistically positive influence on self-identity and bully victimization had a statistically negative influence on self-identity; both parents' affectionate attention and awareness of their child's friends had a statistically positive influence on self-identity; fourth, parents' affectionate attention had a statistically negative moderating effect on the self-identity; therefore, it signifies that the relationship between bully victimization and self-identity appears differently depending on the parents' affectionate attention, which means that the parents' affectionate attention had a negative effect on the self-identity of the adolescents who were victimized by school violence.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of neglect and abuse of parents, a sub-factor of domestic violence victimization experience, on the career identity status, the mediate effects of adapting to school life in the process, and the control effects of the experience of using local children center service experience. To this end, 419 people were extracted from the data of the first year and sixth year of the children's panel at the local children's center. The main analysis results are as follows. First, parents' neglect, a sub-factor of domestic violence damage experience, was found to have a negative mediation effect on youth's sense of direction. Second, adapting to school life are being partially mediate effect in the relationship between neglect of duty and career identity. The practical implications of necessary for the forming career identity for teenager using local child center and the basis data for developing programs were derived.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of integrated art therapy on the self-esteem of children who experienced domestic violence. In order to find out whether there is an effect, we used the nonparametric statistic as a quantitative study to verify the difference of self-esteem. In qualitative research, I used the dynamic familyization, sentence completion test, program report, feedback journal, and observation log from researcher and assistant therapist so as to get the deep understanding of their inner world. This study conducted a trauma test for 49 children in grades 4-6 from one elementary school in a city of Jeollabukdo Province. As a result, there was a significant increase in total self-esteem including their social life. family life, and school life after the program was implemented. Also, integrated art therapy promoted general perception and specific perception of self, which affected total self - esteem, social self - esteem, family self - esteem, and school self-esteem. So, it improves the self-esteem of children who have experienced domestic violence, In order to improve peer relations and interpersonal relations, if integrated art therapy is carried out in schools or institutions in the future, it will be possible to reduce social cost and distance.

Process of Coping with Domestic Violence of Marriage Immigrant Women (결혼 이주 여성의 가정폭력 대처과정에 관한 근거이론 접근)

  • This research aims to suggest a practical solution in order to make marriage immigrant women free from violence and stand on their own. The suggestion could be made by developing Substantive theory in terms of marriage immigrant women's coping with domestic violence. The research question is; How marriage immigrant women cope with domestic violence. The research used a route theory approach, and 11 of marriage immigrant women who have ever suffered from domestic violence participated in it. The research question used semi-structured open questions. As a result of paradigm model analysis, "mental and physical devastation" is defined as a core phenomenon, and causative conditions are "wheel of pain" and "helpless victims of violence". Besides, context conditions are "period growth with solitariness", "irrational marriage" and "indifferent reality". "Mental and physical devastation", the core phenomenon act and interact with effect of mediatory conditions; which are "social help", "cultural difference" and "helplessness". Here the action and reaction appear as "adaptation", "resistance", "self-protection" and "self-reinforcement", and the outcomes show up as "maintaining reality", "decision making" and "beginning a new life". "Coping with mental and physical devastation and standing on one's own feet" could be introduced as a core category. Process of coping with domestic violence presents its levels as; shocks ${\rightarrow}$ endurance ${\rightarrow}$ regret ${\rightarrow}$ overcoming. There are three patterns of coping, which are; "preserving realities", "returning", and "groping for the future".

  • It is shown about the victims of domestic violence in this study that how for them to have made a marriage, what to have been forced them to endure it hitherto and their way to betterment after attending at a institution. In addition, this study approached the side of their family history with a viewpoint of life courses. Some digested stuffs of the results are followed below with the main problems proposed in this research. 1. Most of the female victims for this research had been brought up under normal home conditions besides one of ten victims having lived in their own violent home. On the other hand, many of husbands had been in a poor circumstance, as five of ten ones had grown up with the domestic violence. And it is appeared that anyone of them are not well off now. 2. They were hesitant to break through the wall of violence because of the responsibility of a remarriage(3cases), for their children(4cases), and for fear of divorce(3cases). It was appeared that most of the first violence of them were occurred in six months earlier before marriage and most victims didn't cope with it adequately. 3. The total of 10 women victims, of the former 6 cases, 3 women victims returned to their home with their husbands'authentication of violence-free. Their decision was based on the same reason as they had endured for. And the others were to be out since a termination of the sheltering term, in the course of the divorce suit.

A Study on the Intergenerational Transmission of Family Violence (가정폭력의 세대간 전달에 관한 연구)

  • This study examined the intergenerational transmission of family violence. The main focus of this study was on the effect of an experience of childhood violence and the witnessing of interparental violence on the future spouse and child violence. Two hundred and forty-two married couples and 50 married couples with indicted husbands and their wives were surveyed. The results showed that Husbands who had experienced childhood violence from their father and witnessed their father's violence towards their mother tended to inflict more physical violence on their wives than those who did not experience such events. Wives who witnessed violence between both parents' tended to receive more physical violence from their husbands than those who did not witness such events. In addition, wives who did not experience childhood violence but at the same time witnessed interparental violence tended to receive more physical violence from their husbands than those who did not witness such events. Husbands who experienced childhood violence from their mother and both parents and husbands who witnessed their father's violence toward their mother tended to be more violent towards their children than those who did not experience such events. Wives who experienced childhood violence from their mother and father and wives who witnessed violence between both parents tended to be more violent towards their children than those who did not experience such events. These results partially support that the transmission of family violence across generations and show the differential effects of gender and the violent parent's gender on family violence.

Effects of Coping Strategies of Family Conflict on Family Violence among the Baby Boomers : Focusing on the Moderating Effects of Problem-drinking and Self-esteem (베이비부머의 가족갈등대처전략이 가정폭력에 미치는 영향 : 문제음주와 자아존중감의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effects of problem-drinking and self-esteem on the relationship between coping strategies of family conflict and family violence. The subjects were conflicted by family among baby boomers were selected in the 9th KoWePS. and are analyzed with the statistical program AMOS 21.0 as a calling structural equation modeling and also with aroian test for mediating effect. The major findings were as follows: 1st, positive coping strategies of family conflict was negative related to problem-drinking. 2nd, positive coping strategies of family conflict was positive related to self-esteem. 3rd, positive coping strategies of family conflict was negative related to family violence. 4th, mitigated problem-drinking was insignificantly related to family violence. 5th, reinforced self-esteem were negative related to family violence. Finally, on the base of this results, the practical and political implications of this study were discussed to recover family conflict and to reduce and protect family violence. and the limitations of this study and the suggestions for future studies were also presented.

An Exploratory Study on 'school violence prevention' in Home Economics Education (학교폭력 예방을 위한 가정과교육의 접근 방안 탐색)

  • This Exploratory study applied the content analysis method by documental research to develop the logic of announcing a validity of Korean Education or Home Economics Education's roles and missions for preventing the school violence. As the results, three logics of accessing devices for Korean Education or Home Economics Education got developed. First, adolescents should be changed into an positive perspective like a 'people living' rather than a negative perspective like the 'learner' which is limited in Korean Education. Second, the value of the 'life competency' which has been disparaging is reinforced as an important value of education although the purpose of Korean Education was only one. The life competency is not a talent which is learned naturally by experiences. Because the school violence which is a problem in nowadays is a problem occurred by adolescents as the 'people living' rather than the 'learner', it is needed to renovate an education by a curriculum of reinforcing the 'life competency'. Third, Home Economics Education has been traditionally the typical subject which had a purpose of varied competency development as the 'people living'. Thus, the subject of Home Economics Education is one of the most important subjects, being able to prevent the school violence in entire Korean Education. The Home Economics Education as the 'life education' has an essence for making adolescents have needed competency to achieve a qualified and happy life over their adjustment.
