Real-Time Individual Tracking of Multiple Moving Objects for Projection based Augmented Visualization (다중 동적객체의 실시간 독립추적을 통한 프로젝션 증강가시화)

  • AR contents, if markers to be tracked move fast, show flickering while updating images captured from cameras. Conventional methods employing image based markers and SLAM algorithms for tracking objects have the problem that they do not allow more than 2 objects to be tracked simultaneously and interacted with each other in the same camera scene. In this paper, an improved SLAM type algorithm for tracking dynamic objects is proposed and investigated to solve the problem described above. To this end, method using 2 virtual cameras for one physical camera is adopted, which makes the tracked 2 objects interacted with each other. This becomes possible because 2 objects are perceived separately by single physical camera. Mobile robots used as dynamic objects are synchronized with virtual robots in the well-designed contents, proving usefulness of applying the result of individual tracking for multiple moving objects to augmented visualization of objects.

  • 볼륨 렌더링은 3차원이나 그 이상의 차원의 볼륨 데이터에서 의미있는 정보를 추출해 내어 직관적으로 표출하는 가시화 기법을 말하며 의료영상 기상학, 유체역학 등 다양한 분야에서 널리 사용되고 있다. 한편, 최근 PC 하드웨어의 급격한 발전으로 과거에는 슈퍼컴퓨터에서나 가능했던 대용량 볼륨 데이터의 가시화가 일반 PC 환경에서도 가능하게 되었다. PC 그래픽스 하드웨어의 꼭지점 및 픽셀 세이더의 수치 계산에 최적화된 벡터 연산으로 빠른 볼륨 가시화를 가능하게 한 것이다. 그러나 그래픽스 하드웨어의 메모리 용량의 한계로 대용량의 볼륨 데이터를 빠르게 가시화하는 것은 지금까지 어려운 문제로 남아있다. 본 논문에서는 한국과학기술정보연구원에서 제작한 대용량의 인체영상 데이터인 Visible Korean Human 데이터를 여러 개의 그래픽스 하드웨어 메모리에 분산시키고 이를 꼭지점 및 픽셀 쉐이더를 이용하여 빠르게 가시화하여 고해상도의 이미지를 얻고자 하였다.

Trilinear Isosurface Extraction Using Cell Decomposition (정육면체형 셀의 분해를 이용한 삼중선형 등위면의 계산)

  • This paper describes an algorithm to compute and visualize a topologically accurate trilinear isosurface from three dimensional volumetric image via cubic cell decomposition. An isosurface is often used for visualizing a three dimensional volumetric image. An isosurface defined in each cubic cell of the volume is triangulated in order to be visualized in a computer. However, most isosurface extraction methods generate a triangulated isosurface which may not be topologically equivalent to the ideal trilinear isosurface. We propose a method to decide a correct connectivity of a trilinear isosurface in a cubic cell and perform appropriate cell decomposition according to the decision. Using the method, we can extract isosurface triangles from the cells generated by the decomposition. We prove that this method generates a triangulated isosurface which is topologically equivalent to the trilinear isosurface. We implemented our proposed algorithm and the result shows it can generate topologically accurate trilinear isosurface.

  • In this paper, a web-based seed phenotype visualization support system is proposed to extract and visualize data such as the surface color, length, area, perimeter and compactness of seed, which is phenotype information from the image of soybean/rice seeds. This system systematically stores data extracted from seeds in databases, and provides a web-based user interface that facilitates the analysis of data by researchers using data tables and charts. Conventional seed characteristic studies have been manually measured by humans, but the system developed in this paper allows researchers to simply upload seed images for analysis and obtain seed's numerical data after image processing. It is expected that the proposed system will be able to obtain time efficiency and remove spatial restriction, if it is used in seed characterization research, and it will be easy to analyze through systematic management of research results and visualization of the phenotype characteristics.

  • 최근들어 제품을 개발하는 과정 중, 디자이너와 개발자, 의사 결정권자들이 FEM, CFD 시뮬레이션 결과를 리뷰할 때에 가상현실기술을 도입하는 사례가 늘고 있다. 몰입감을 높여주는 가상현실환경은 모델에 대한 해석 결과물을 정확하고 효과적으로 분석할 수 있도록 돕는다. 데이터의 실제 크기와 같게 혹은 그보다 더 크고 자세한 이미지를 제공하는 가상현실 몰입환경은 사용자가 데스크탑 환경만을 사용할 때 경험할 수 없는 높은 사실감을 제공함으로써 사용자에게 시각적인 만족감을 줄 수 있다. 하지만 데스크탑 환경에 비해 해상도가 낮고, 어두운 곳에서 스테레오 안경이나 HMD(Head Mounted Display), Data glove등을 착용해야 하는 불편함과 멀미, 시각적인 피로, 방향감각 상실로 대표되는 가상멀미 등으로 인해 장시간 사용에 어려움이 있다. 데스트탑 환경에서의 데이터 리뷰는 고해상도 이미지 분석은 가능하지만, 입체감이 떨어지기 때문에 리뷰 데이터의 실제감이 떨어진다. 이와 같은 문제점들을 보완하기 위해서 본 논문에서는 데스크탑 환경과 가상현실 환경 간의 협업이 가능한 FEM/CFD 가시화 시스템을 제시한다. 본 시스템은 가상현실 몰입환경에서 해석 데이터를 단순히 가시화하는 것뿐만이 아니라, 데스크탑 시스템과 동일한 3D 인터페이스 구조를 제공한다. 따라서, 해석 결과 분석을 위한 동일한 post-processing 작업이 네트워크로 연결된 원격 공간의 사용자들이 사용하는 시스템들 사이에서 실시간으로 진행될 수 있다.

  • Building can get absolutely different images by different building materials. In architectural design process, there are various kinds of simulation programs to prove visualized images. But since most of simulation programs are consist of data for building material informations produced at overseas, it is difficult to utilize them in domestic environment. In this paper, we collected data from domestic building materials and measured optical features which they have, and then suggested methods to arrange the database and made database from some of domestic building materials to develope Internet Web-based RADIANCE redering system.

  • Droplet size is one of the most important parameter which controls the performance of the combustion system using liquid fuel or oxidizer. Droplet formation and its size are mainly affected by the injection velocity and ambient gas density. Recently, droplet size measurement was conducted by PDPA or Malvern particle analyzer using laser light. But at this paper image processing method was developed to measure droplet size. And its validation was investigated with reticle.

  • Acquiring experimental data for PIV verification or machine learning training data is resource-demanding, leading to an increasing interest in synthetic particle images as simulation data. Conventional synthetic particle image generation algorithms do not follow physical laws, and the use of CFD is time-consuming and requires computing resources. In this study, we propose a new method for synthetic particle image generation, based on a Physics-Informed Neural Networks(PINN). The PINN is utilized to infer the flow fields, enabling the generation of synthetic particle images that follow physical laws with reduced computation time and have no constraints on spatial resolution compared to CFD. The proposed method is expected to contribute to the verification of PIV algorithms.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to examine ontology of digital photo image based on a Simulacre concept of Gilles Deleuze & Jean Baudrillard. Traditionally, analog image follows the logic of reproduction with a similarity with original target. Therefore, visual reality of analog image is illuminated, interpreted, and described in a subjective viewpoint, but does not deviate from the interpreted reality. However, digital image does not exist physically but exists as information that is made of mathematical data, a digital algorithm. This digital image is that newness of every reproduction, that is, essence of subject 'once existing there' does not exist anymore, and does not instruct or reproduce an outside target. Therefore, digital image does not have the similarity and does not keep the index instruction ability anymore. It means that this digital image is converted into a virtual area, and this is not reproduction of already existing but display of not existing yet. This not-being of digital image changes understanding of reality, existence, and imagination. Now, dividing it into reality and imagination itself is meaningless, and this does not make digital image with technical improvement but is a new image that is basically completely different from existing image. Eventually, digital image of the day passes step to visualize an existent target, nonexistent things have been visualized, and reality operates virtually. It means that digital image does not reproduce our reality but reproduces other reality realistically. In other words, it is a virtual reproduction producing an image that is not related to a target, that is to say Simulacre. In the virtually simulated world, reality has an infinite possibility, and it is not a picture of the past and present and has a possibility as the infinite virtual that is not fixed, is infinitely mutable, and is not actualized yet.

  • In this paper, a parallel visualization algorithm is proposed for efficient visualization of the massive data generated from large-scale parallel finite element analysis through investigating the characteristics of parallel rendering methods. The proposed parallel visualization algorithm is designed to be highly compatible with the characteristics of domain-wise computation in parallel finite element analysis by using the sort-last-sparse approach. In the proposed algorithm, the binary tree communication pattern is utilized to reduce the network communication time in image composition routine. Several benchmarking tests are carried out by using the developed in-house software, and the performance of the proposed algorithm is investigated.
