In order to extend a hot gas parts replacement cycle of a gas turbine, blade row 1 from low pressure turbine, which has a significant impact on the cycle, has been selected from stored set after one cycle use. Taking into account the status of the first stage moving blade in LP turbine operated more than 27,000 equivalent operating hours(EOH) and the replacement cycle in the same type of gas turbine, the replacement of the high temperature components installed on the GT, a study subject, can be extended from 24,000 to 27,000 EOH.

Temperature-dependent stress analysis and heat transfer analysis of a rotating gas turbine blade made of functionally graded materials (FGMs) are presented considering turbine operating temperature and ceramic particle size. The material properties of functionally graded materials are assumed to vary continuously and smoothly across the thickness of the thin-walled blade. For obtaining system stiffness reflecting these characteristics, the one-dimensional heat transfer equation is applied along the thickness of the thin-walled blade for determining the temperature distribution. Using the results of the temperature analysis, the equations of motion of a rotating blade are derived with hybrid deformation variable modeling method along with the Rayleigh-Ritz assumed mode methods. The validity of the derived rotating blade model is evaluated by comparing its transient responses and temperature distribution with the results obtained using a commercial finite element code. The maximum tensile stress with operating speed and gradient index are obtained. Furthermore, the gradient index that minimizes blade temperature was investigated.

A parametric study was carried out to find the fuel lubrication performance of high speed small rolling element bearings. Both MIL-PRF-7808 turbine oil and JP-8 aircraft fuel were used as the lubricant to compare the operational characteristics. 17 mm inner diameter deep groove ball bearing and 20 mm cylindrical roller bearing were used. A high speed bearing test rig was developed and the testing was done with varying applied load, cooling air temperature, lubricant flow rate, and speed. Fuel caused more cage wear than oil for ball bearing with increasing axial load and rotational speed. The bearing temperature using fuel was lower than that using oil, and this seems to be the result of the high cooling capacity of fuel. According to various tests, the fuel lubrication is applicable for the lubrication on the main shaft bearings of expendable small gas turbines.

As a preliminary study on a SOFC-GT hybrid system integrated a with coal-gasification system, the influence of the concentrations of $H_2$ and CO in syngas on the performance characteristics of the hybrid system is investigated. It is expected that the differences in the heating values of fuels with different compositions trigger the off-design operation of the gas turbine and result in different performance characteristics of the overall hybrid system. Syngas compositions are found to affect the SOFC performance. Performance of hybrid system with carbon monoxide is poorer than the case with hydrogen. In the case of part-load performance with syngas, performance degradation at part-load operating conditions with hydrogen is more dominant than the case with carbon monoxide.

In this study, acombined cogeneration power plant produced two types of thermal energy and electric or mechanical power in a single process. The performance of each component of the gas turbine-combined cogeneration system was expressed as a function of the fuel consumption of the entire system, and the heat and electricity performance of each component. The entire system consisted of two gas turbines in the upper system, and two heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), a steam turbine, and two district heat exchangers in the lower system. In the gas turbine combined cogeneration system, the performance test after 10,000 hours of operation time, which is subject to an ASME PTC 46 performance test, was carried out by the installation of various experimental facilities. The performance of the overall output and power plant efficiency was also analyzed. Based on the performance test data, the test results were compared to confirm the change in performance. This study performed thermodynamic system analysis of gas turbines, heat recovery steam generators, and steam turbines to obtain the theoretical results. A comparison was made between the theoretical and actual values of the total heat generation value of the entire system and the heat released to the atmosphere, as well as the theoretical and actual efficiencies of the electrical output and thermal output. The test results for the performance characteristics of the gas turbine combined cogeneration power plant were compared with the thermodynamic efficiency characteristics and an error of 0.3% was found.

The gas turbine thermal efficiency has been predicted when the compressor pressure ratio increases from the previously set 13.5. Thermal efficiency has been predicted from 14.2 up to 18.2 at which the turbine work reaches its maximum value on the assumption that isentropic efficiency of the compressor and the turbine are constant using the operating data at the pressure ratio of 13.5. 35.11% of thermal efficiency has been acquired by the performance test when the pressure ratio increased to 16.2 since replacing the compressor low pressure stages. It's been approved that predicting thermal efficiency using the operating data at the pressure ratio of 13.5 is useful within 7.86% of tolerance as the figure measured by the performance test.

In this study, an ideal water-recirculated oxy-fuel power generation system is proposed. The results of parametric studies of the performance characteristics of the system are discussed. For a given choice of the turbine inlet temperature, the turbine, which produces power, can be either a gas or a steam turbine. For maximum efficiency, the turbine inlet temperature is selected as the level of state-of-the-art gas turbines and the reheat cycle may be adopted not only to enhance the turbine power but also to maintain dryness of the water with a turbine exhaust temperature that is as high as possible. To obtain a low condensation temperature for a high purity of $CO_2$, a relatively low pressure expansion process may be added. Finally, the performance of the water-recirculated oxy-fuel power generation system is discussed with reference to various operating parameters and system configurations. The optimal operating conditions for high performance and a high purity of $CO_2$ are proposed.

System design parameters of gas generator cycle liquid rocket engines were investigated and compared in the present study. Characteristic velocity of combustor, pressure drop of combustor injector, exit pressure of pump, pump efficiency and specific power of turbine were considered as a system design parameter. The result shows the characteristic velocity is in the range of 1700-1770 m/s, pressure drop of combustor injector, 4-10 bar, pump exit pressure ratio to combustion pressure, 120-230%, pump efficiency, 60-80%, specific power of turbine, $0.28-0.58MW{\cdot}s/kg$.

3 dimensional turbine exhaust gas flow was simplified to an axisymmetrical flow and calculated with detailed chemistry models. GRI 35 species-217 reaction step model and simplified 11 species 15 reaction model was applied to the secondary reaction of the turbine exhaust gas and compared. All the model captured the secondary combustion on the base region, and the temperature was 600K higher than that without turbine exhaust gas. This means the local temperature of the base can be higher in the case of real 3 dimensional flow. The simplified model show the similar results to the GRI detailed chemistry model although the former affected the engine plume structure slightly.
The present study has been carried out to analyze the flow characteristics of a heat recovery steam generator with the change of inlet flow conditions by using numerical flow analysis. The inlet of HRSG corresponds the outlet of gas turbine exit and the flow after gas turbine has strong swirl flow and turbulence. The inlet flow condition of HRSG should be included the exit flow characteristics of gas turbine. The present numerical analysis adopted the flow analysis result of gas turbine exit flow as a inlet flow condition of HRSG analysis. The computational flow analysis result of gas turbine exit shows that the maximum axial velocity appears near circular duct wall and the maximum turbulent kinetic energy and dissipation rate exist relatively higher gradient region of axial velocity. The comparison of flow analysis will be executed with change of inlet turbulent flow condition. The first case is using the inlet turbulent properties from the result of computational analysis of gas turbine exit flow, and the second case is using the assumed turbulent intensity with the magnitude proportional to the velocity magnitude and length scale. The computational results of flow characteristics for two cases show great difference especially in the velocity field and turbulent properties. The main conclusion of the present study is that the flow inlet condition of HRSG should be included the turbulent properties for the accurate computational result of flow analysis.
