  • Numerical analyses are performed to show the effect of stiffening facade riggers on the behavior of the structure and to investigate the optimum locations of facade riggers. Optimum locations of the facade riggers to minimize the drift at the top of the structure are obtained by maximizing the drift reduction caused by the facade riggers and are significantly influenced by the bending and shear stiffnesses of the braced frame and facade riggers. Three standard load cases of uniformal and triangularly distributed lateral loads as well as a lateral point load at the top of the structure are considered in this paper Optimum locations of facade riggers are plotted as functions of nondimensional relative stiffness parameters ${\omega}$ and ${\beta}$ for structures with one to four riggers. Although the analysis presented herein is based on certain simplifying assumptions, it is believed that the results do provide sufficiently accurate information for determining the optimum locations of facade riggers in highrise structures.

  • This study is the compared seismic performance that are difference between the performance of structures on various site classes and beam-column connection. this analysis model was designed the previous earthquake load. To compare the performance levels of the structure was subjected to nonlinear static and nonlinear dynamic analysis. Nonlinear analysis was used to The Perform 3D program. Nonlinear static analysis was compared with the performance point and Nonlinear dynamic analysis was compared the drift ratio(%). Analysis results, the soft site class of the displacement was more increase than rock site classes of the displacement. Also The smaller the displacement was increased beam-column connection stiffness.

  • An experimental study was performed to investigate the maximum energy dissipation and the ductility capacity of shear-dominated steel plate walls with thin web plates. Three specimens of three-story plate walls with thin web plates were tested. The parameters for the test specimens were the aspect ratio of the web plate and the shear strength of the column. A concentrically braced frame and a moment-resisting frme were a also tested for comparison. The steel plate walls exhibited much better ductility and energy dissipation capacity than the concentrically braced frame and the moment-resisting frame. The results showed that unlike other structural systems, the sh as well as strength, and can therefore be used as an effective earthquake-resisting system. A method of predicting the energy dissipation capacity of a steel plate wall was proposed.

  • The application of the diagrid structural system has increased of late, but cyclic loadings such as winds and earthquakes cannot be fully understood through only an analytical study due to the difficulty of considering its welding property. In this study, diagrid nodes that had been scaled down to 1/5 of their full sizes were tested to find out their structural behavior under seismic or wind loads. Four specimens were used with five parameters, including the welding method and the design details. Cyclic loading tests were carried out, where a tensile load was applied to one brace member and a compression load to the other. The major failure modes in the tests were only failure of bending with tensile stress and tension failure. The welding method and the design details had no effect on the initial stiffness and yielding stress but play a significant role in the failure mode and energy dissipation, respectively.

  • This research deals, The characteristics of mechanics and behavior of the tube structural systems, It has been investigated and considered conventional theory and case models, It has shown the suitability, The best location, And optimal shape of the unit module system, Considered variables materials of stiffness increase and decrease in hybrid tube structural systems this study carried out adapting analysis of statistical concepts. In a concrete way, This study exams the effect of reducing horizontal displacement and the shear lag phenomenon, Also, The purpose of this study is to utilize the basic data on the design and study of future high-rise hybrid structural system using this research. As a result, The framed- tube structural system does not effectively cope with horizontal behavior of high-rise buildings, The results of using varying material tested resistance factors and lateral loads in hybrid tube structural system, When each material is compared Bracing material is identified as a key factor in lateral behavior. In a ratio of material quantity framed-tube structural system, The level of sensitivity affecting the horizontal displacement is greater then the beam's column, In case of braced tube structural system, Braced appeared to be most sensitive in comparison of material quantity ratio in columns and beams.

  • The required connection ductility has been evaluated, considering geometric, material and connection nonlinearity, for 6-story unbraced and 20-story braced steel structures subjected to ultimate lateral load. For material nonlinearity, section moment-curvature relationship and member stiffness matrix have been derived utilizing fiber model and linear flexibility distribution model. In 6-story structure with semi-rigid connections for rigid connection, the required connection ductility is less than that for rigid connection. In 20-story structure, the required connection ductility for semi-rigid connection is almost the same as that for shear connection and the required ductility for rigid connection is larger than that for semi-rigid or shear connection.

  • Recently, many studies on connections in steel structures have been performed. In practice, designers assume that the connection is a rigid- or pinned-one, however, actually the connection behaves as partially restrained one, neither fully restrained nor unrestrained. This paper concentrates on the behavior of double angle connections in the field of semi-rigid connections. The behavior of double angle connection. induced by abrupt axial tension load or by collapsed brace in medium or low rise building, is analyzed by 3D nonlinear finite element method using ABAQUS(ver 5.8). From the analytic results. a simplified model of double angle and a rotational stiffness at the corner of the angle are derived, which are fundamentally used for understanding the behavior of the double angle connection.
