Resolving Hand Region Occlusion in Tangible Augmented Reality Envrionments (감각형 증강현실 환경에서의 손 가림 현상 해결 방안)

  • In tangible augmented reality (AR) environments for virtual prototyping, the user interacts with virtual products by manipulating tangible objects with his or her hands, but the user often encounter awkward situations in which his or her hands are occluded by augmented virtual objects, which reduces both immersion and ease of interaction. In this paper, we present how to resolve such hand region occlusion in order to enhance natural interaction and immersive visualization. In the AR environment considered, we use two types (product-type and pointer-type) of tangible objects for tangible user interaction with a virtual product of interest. Holding the tangible objects with his or her hands, the user can create input events by touching specified regions of the product-type tangible object with the pointer-type tangible object. We developed a method for resolving hand region occlusion frequently arising during such user interaction, It first detect hand region in a real image and refines the rendered image of the virtual object by subtracting the hand region from the rendered image, Then, it superimposes the refined image onto the real image to obtain an image in which the occlusion is resolved. Incorporated into tangible AR interaction for virtual prototyping of handheld products such as cellular phones and MP3 players, the method has been found by a preliminary user study that it is not only useful to improve natural interaction and immersive visualization of virtual products, but also helpful for making the users experience the products' shapes and functions better.

플라즈마 공정용 산화막 코팅부품의 신뢰성평가에 관한 연구

  • 최근 반도체 및 디스플레이 산업에서의 플라즈마 공정의 중요성은 점점 증대되고 있다. 특히, 반도체/LCD 제조공정에서의 Dry Etch공정은 디스플레이용 유리 위에 형성된 산화막, 금속입자, 박막, 및 Polymer와 같은 불순물들을 플라즈마를 이용하여 제거하는 공정이다. 플라즈마 공정을 진행하는 동안 몇 가지 문제점들이 이슈가 되고 있다. Etch공정에서는 활성 부식가스를 많이 사용하고 장시간 플라즈마에 노출되기 때문에, 진공부품들은 플라즈마에 의해서 물리적인 이온충격(Ion Bombardment)과 화학적인 Radical 반응에 의한 부식이 진행된다. 부식영향에 의해 챔버를 구성하고 있는 부품에서 균열이 발생하거나 오염입자들이 떨어져 나오게 된다. 발생한 오염입자들은 산업용 플라즈마 공정에서 매우 심각한 문제가 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 산화막의 부식 저항특성을 측정할 수 있는 평가방법에 대하여 고찰하였고, 표준화된 데이터로 비교분석할 수 있도록 평가기준과 규정화된 피막평가방법을 연구하였다. 또한, 산화막의 특성에 따른 플라즈마 상태, 오염입자 발생 등 플라즈마 공정을 진단하여 부품재료의 수명을 예측하고, 신뢰성 있는 평가방법에 관한 연구를 하였다.

  • Station collocation of closely placed multiple GEO spacecraft is required to avoid the problem of collision risk, attitude sensor interference and/or occultation. This paper presents the method of obtaining the orbit correction scheme for collocating two GEO spacecraft within a small station-keeping box. The relative motion of each spacecraft with respect to the virtual geostationary satellite is precisely expressed in terms of power and trigonometry functions. This closed-form orbit propagator is used to define the constraint conditions which meet the requirements for the station collocation. Finally, the technique of constrained optimization is used to find the orbit maneuver sequence. Nonlinear simulations are performed and their results are compared with those of the classical method.

  • 시선추적 인터페이스는 다른 감각기관에 비해 빠른 반응속도를 보이므로 효과적인 인터랙션 수단으로 활용가능하며, 이를 통해 사용자 경험을 향상시킬 수 있다. 따라서 시선추적 기술은 장애인 안구마우스, 운전자 시선정보 분석, 광고 효과 모니터링, 차세대 게임 등 다양한 분야에 활용될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 시선추적 인터페이스의 정확도를 향상시키기 위한 기술을 소개한다. 실제 사용자를 대상으로 시선추적을 수행할 때 눈꺼풀로 인한 동공 가림 현상이 자주 발생하며, 각막반사광으로 인한 동공 경계 왜곡 현상이 발생하기도 한다. 이로 인해 동공 중심이 왜곡되어 시선위치에 오류가 발생한다. 이와 같은 문제점을 개선하기 위해 눈꺼풀 및 각막반사광으로 인한 왜곡 현상을 보정하여 동공 중심을 검출하는 방법을 제안한다.

  • Since the world wide web, simple and convenient tool, has proposed, the Internet became the most simple network resource which provide many informations of the world. Furthermore, various methodologies are developed to support the dynamic service such as 3D View web service. We will propose the volume rendering view program that interactively visualize the 3D data on the web. The 3D Data is obtained by stacking the 2D images along the z-direction. We also employ the COM based OCX control which is a kind of Active component. This web program will contribute the diagnosis of the diseases through the 3D visualization and image analysis functions at remote places.

  • Many researchers have been studied texturing the 3D face model with front and side pictures of ordinary person. It is very important to exactly detect the psition of eyes, nose, mouth of a human from the side pictures. Previous results first found the position of eye, nose, or mouth and then extract the other face components using their positional correlation. The detection results greatly depend on the correct extraction of the neck from the images. Therefore, we present a new algorithm that remove the neck completely and thus improve the detection rates of face components. To do this, we will use the RGB values and its differences.

Construction of Skin Color Map for Resolving Hand Occlusion in AR Environments (증강현실 환경에서 손 가림 해결을 위한 피부 색상 정보 획득)

  • In tangible augmented reality (AR) environments, the user interacts with virtual objects by manipulating their physical counterparts, but he or she often encounters awkward situations in which his or her hands are occluded by the augmented virtual objects, which causes great difficulty in figuring out hand positions, and reduces both immersion and ease of interaction. To solve the problem of such hand occlusion, skin color information has been usefully exploited. In this paper, we propose an approach to simple and effective construction of a skin color map which is suitable for hand segmentation and tangible AR interaction. The basic idea used herein is to obtain hand images used in a target AR environment by simple image subtraction and to represent their color information by a convex polygonal map in the YCbCr color space. We experimentally found that the convex polygonal map is more accurate in representing skin color than a conventional rectangular map. After implementing a solution for resolving hand occlusion using the proposed skin color map construction, we showed its usefulness by applying it to virtual design evaluation of digital handheld products in a tangible AR environment.

The Development of a Marker Detection Algorithm for Improving a Lighting Environment and Occlusion Problem of an Augmented Reality (증강현실 시스템의 조명환경과 가림현상 문제를 개선한 마커 검출 알고리즘 개발)

  • We use adaptive method and determine threshold coefficient so that the algorithm could decide a suitable binarization threshold coefficient of the image to detecting a marker; therefore, we solve the light influence on the shadow area and dark region. In order to improve the speed for reducing computation we created Integral Image. The algorithm detects an outline of the image by using canny edge detection for getting damage or obscured markers as it receives the noise removed picture. The strength of the line of the outline is extracted by Hough transform and it extracts the candidate regions corresponding to the coordinates of the corners. Markers extracted using the equation of a straight edge to find the coordinates. By using the equation of straight the algorithm finds the coordinates the corners. of extracted markers. As a result, even if all corners are obscured, the algorithm can find all of them and this was proved through the experiment.

  • The quality of raw, red and white ginseng and the contents of some minerals were examined using 6-year-old ginseng roots produced in different shades, thatch and polyethylene net (P..E.). The yield of first and second grade ginseng roots was higher in the thatch shade than in the P.E. shade. The smaller sizes of ginseng routs were probably due to loss of ginseng yield called by alternaria blight in the third and fourth years, and lower quality was dale to more rusty roots in the P.E. shading. For red ginseng. rates of heaven and earth grades were higher in the P.E. than thatch shade. producing red ginseng with less inside cavity Production of white ginseng was higher in the thatch shade than in the P.E. shade. showing a higher yield, better piece grade, lower inside crack and better quality index in the thatch. The contents of some minerals such as K, Ca, Mg and Mn of fine ginseng roots differed between the two shades, some of which had a significant correlation with the quality indices of white ginseng.   • In detecting human faces in color images, additional geometric computation is often necessary for validating the face-candidate regions having various forms. In this paper, we propose a method that detects the facial features using chrominance components of color which do not affected by face occlusion and orientation. The proposed algorithm uses the property that the Cb and Cr components have consistent differences around the facial features, especially eye-area. We designed the Mean-Gray Morphology operator to emphasize the feature areas in the eye-map image which generated by basic chrominance differences. Experimental results show that this method can detect the facial features under various face candidate regions effectively.
