  • Now, our urban space is composed of all kinds of sculptures that lost its individual charm in trend flows and street furniture standardized by the integrated design of standardized franchises and similar architectures per each region and autonomous districts. This study was to introduce the concept called the 'community furniture' in the urban environment that there is no an identity of the regional culture and a sense of place because of the mostly similar street environment. The purpose of this study is to propose the concept called the 'community furniture' referred to as public facilities that imply specific identities of some regions that have became the community art expanded into necessary facilities of urban composition as bus shelter's universal convenience and functionality have been preferentially handled and its regional identities are reflected. For doing this, this study fulfilled application alternatives of community furniture design's basic principles after examining the storytelling process of local cultural heritages and analyzing domestic and foreign cases of bus shelters. Results of this study are as follows. First, convergent synergy effects in information and culture and art sectors could be expected as bus shelters visually deliver storytelling factors that imply locally related images. Second, space and place's characteristics and sustainable design concepts embody local characteristics. They can suggest directions for vitalizing urban environment designs by being in harmony with surrounding environments. Third, it is expected that realizing distinctive places is possible as bus shelters with local communities' aesthetic consciousness and regionality are composed of new street spaces.

  • Display in commercial space is one of the most important fields in modem advanced industrial sectors as means of promoting the volume of sales. Additionally, consummers' preferences are more complicated and various than before because of improvement of quality of life. In order to satisfy the various comsumer's desire, the role of display must be an important factor in commercial space. On the other hand, the facade of commercial buildings in the concept of visual merchandising has important effect on the commercial space such as layout of a shop, setting up presentation space, and visual expression. The structure of the facade of the store provides not only an advertising function but also an important position to the composition of external space. Besides, enterance space is a part of a store, and it is closely related to outdoor space. Therefore, the relationship between a store and outdoor space should be carefully considered in terms of functional and expressional problems.This study introduces all sort of characteristics of the facade of enterance speac in the commercial buildings. It also investigates the relationship among the characteristics. Moreover, it analyzes the effect of facade style on shop environment such as zonning, inducement plan, and allocation plan. For the purpose of this study, 57 fashion stores, located in Myung-Dong(Seoul), are investigated. Based on the sample, this study analyzes the relationship between the facade style and visual presentation. Finally, it suggests the desirable direction of space composition based upon the concept of visual merchandising.

  • Shopping malls have been developed to increase sales revenue and attract visitors. This study focused on the sense of the outdoor characteristics of these shopping malls by comparing open and enclosed types of shopping malls in common spaces in LA and Korea through case study analyses. This research through case studies will form the foundation of comfortable shopping mall space design. The results are the follows. 1. Enclosed shopping malls tend to provide large indoor space to create a sense of outdoors. 2. The common space of enclosed shopping malls is developed through space expansion with horizontal and vertical connections that appear in different combinations depending on the space constraints and contexts. 3. The architectural planning of enclosed shopping malls are largely dependent on the concept of everyday life portrayed in the identity of each space, which usually involve the inclusion of sizable atriums to host indoor sports or special performances.

  • 본 논문은 국내 송전이용요금산정을 위한 새로운 소프트웨어 개발을 제안한다. 국내 송전계통은 전력 공급원이 수용가로부터 원거리에 분포되어 있고 수용가는 수도권에 밀집되어 있어 송전비용이 높은 특성을 가지고 있다. 국내 송전비용 감소 방안으로써 공급원과 수용가에 지역적 신호를 제공하기 위해 송전이용요금이 도입되었다. 송전이용요금을 산정하기 위해서는 송전설비의 비용데이터와 송전망의 물리적 데이터 등 다량의 데이터 처리와 조류계산결과와 송전손실을 이용한 조류추적과 같이 시간이 소요되는 계산이 필요하다. 송전요금산정 소프트웨어의 주요 구성요소는 입출력 데이터베이스, 직류 및 교류 조류계산 엔진, 조류추적 모듈과 사용자 인터페이스이다. 새로운 송전이용요금산정 소프트웨어는 마이크로소프트 윈도우 환경 하에서 개발되었으며 한전의 국내 송전이용요금산정에 적용될 예정이다.

  • 본 논문에서는 전력선 통신 시스템의 전송신호가 비수용가로 전송되는 현상을 차단하기 위한 비접촉식 Blocking Filter를 유한요소법을 이용하여 해석하였다. 새로운 통신망 시스템이 연구되면서 기존의 전력케이블 망을 이용한 전력선 통신방식에 대한 연구가 이루어 졌으나, 전력선 통신이 서비스 지역 이외에 다른 지역으로 통신신호들이 전송될 수 있는 문제점이 제기되었으며, 또한 지정된 지역 내에서 최적화된 통신환경의 구성이 요구되었다. 따라서 본 논문은 타 지역으로의 신호 간섭을 차단하기 위한 비접촉식 Blocking Filter의 기본 모델을 제시하였으며, 이러한 비접촉식 Blocking Filter를 유한요소법을 기초로 한 전자장 수치해석 기법과 전송선 이론을 도입하여 신호 전송 특성을 해석하였다.

The Effect of Greenspace on School Commuting Routes on Pedestrian Satisfaction and the Future Direction of Creation (학교통학로 녹지가 보행자의 만족도와 조성 방향에 미치는 영향)

  • For this study, 313 pedestrians, including students, from two schools participated in the greening project of the school commuting roads in Seoul. These schools were compared to two without street greenspaces to analyze the effects of the green areas on pedestrian satisfaction and the future direction of creation. As a result of the greenspace satisfaction analysis of schools with greenspace, the items that had the greatest effect on overall satisfaction were 'Width of the sidewalk' (37%), 'Harmony with the surrounding landscape' (24.97%), 'The arrangement of trees, grass, and flowers' (18.30%) and 'Overall management' (10.44%). In other words, the item that satisfies most is securing the appropriate width of the sidewalk where the greenspace is located. It is necessary to re-considered creating greenspaces in existing sidewalk spaces and secure a sidewalk width for pedestrian convenience. As a result of the analysis on the direction of greenspace creation, the respondents who experienced greenspaces through the greenspaces on school commuting routes recognized natural features, such as grass and flowers as more important elements as well as noting that landscape and harmony are important. In addition, respondents interested focusing on functionality recognized the need for greenspaces and highly recognized the importance of arranging natural materials, such as trees, grasses, and flowers. This group also recognized the advantages of functionality and the effectiveness of green spaces. Therefore, it is necessary to expand awareness of the effectiveness of greenspaces through environmental education, publicity, and the provision of information boards. More effort will be needed to apply regional and school characteristics rather than uniform composition to the development of greenspaces.

Impacts of Land Use and Urban Design Characteristics on Transit Ridership in the Seoul Rail Station Areas (서울시 역세권에서의 토지이용 및 도시설계특성이 대중교통이용증대에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • One of the efforts both to prevent urban sprawling development patterns and to promote use of public transportation is known as Transit-Oriented Development (TOD), including such planning elements as the density and diversity of land use and pedestrian-friendly urban design around a transit center. The aim of this study is thus to conduct impact analyses of TOD planning elements on transit ridership in the Seoul rail station areas. First, the authors investigate and draw out various actual elements of TOD planning by using GIS-based data and Smart Card data. Then the authors analyze impacts of TOD planning elements on transit ridership for the Seoul rail station areas. After condensing 34 variables presumably influencing transit ridership into seven factors by using factor analyses, the study utilizes multiple regression modeling methods to identify their impacts on transit ridership. The analysis results demonstrate that transit ridership tends to increase more in rail station areas where there is a non-residential high density, mixed use of land and narrow and small-size road network patterns. The implementation of TODs should be a useful method in inducing a Transit-Oriented City through redevelopment and new development.

Numerical Evaluation of Lateral-Torsional Buckling Strength in I-section Plate Girder Bridges (I-단면 플레이트거더교의 횡비틀림 좌굴강도의 해석적 평가)

  • This paper presents numerical analysis results for the lateral-torsional buckling (LTB) strength of steel I-girder bridges. Current Korean and AASHTO design specifications for LTB consider the buckling strength of a single girder with both its ends constrained. The I-girder bridges are composed of more than one girder, and the girders are interconnected with intermediate cross-beams or cross-frames. Therefore, it should be required to evaluate the effects of cross-beam stiffness and the interactionof girders on LTB strength. It is also necessary to consider the effects of transverse web stiffeners on LTB strength. By considering these parameters, a series of four-girder systemswere numerically modeled using 3D shell elements to estimate the LTB strength while considering initial imperfections and residual stresses.

  • During the conceptual design phase of a light sport aircraft, the wind tunnel tests were conducted to investigate the static stability of newly-designed configuration. The 1/5 scale-down wind tunnel model consisted of fuselage, main wing, vertical tail and horizontal tail. The main wing and tails were able to be attached or detached from the fuselage. The aerodynamic forces and moments acting on the 6 different configurations compounding each component were measured by using the internal balance system and their static stability derivatives were derived. With these experimental data, the baseline lift and drag characteristics as well as the effects of each component to the longitudinal, directional and lateral static stability were quantitatively analyzed.

  • In the 21st century, as localization is reinterpreted as an important part of globalism and as local culture is recognized as a device to increase the competitive power, every city is trying to develop its identity and improve its image while coping with change of the international and domestic environment. Therefore, basic research was preformed to establish the city image identity of Gwangju and as a result, an ideological slogan " City of Light and Life, Gwangju" and basic factors were developed. This study aims to analyze the condition of the city, focusing on design factors that the city image is comprised of, and establishes a long-term strategy for urban environment development by considering the developmental potential of the city. and focuses on case studies for establishment of an image suitable for Gwangju. Case studies focusing on the urban environmental development were presented and the results were applied to Gwangju. From the results, further studies can be pursued according to a long-term strategy. strategy.
