과거에는 지리정보시스템이 고가의 엔진을 사용하여 구축된 지리정보데이터를 활용하였다. 따라서 단지 전문가나 특정한 사용자 중심으로 활용되었으나 인터넷 기술의 급속한 발전으로 언제 어디서나 지도를 이용하려는 일반 사용자들의 요구가 급격히 증가하고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 여러 지리정보검색의 구현기술 중 Java의 Servlet기술을 이용하여 관광지리정보검색 시스템을 구현하여 서버의 과중한 부하를 막았으며 진보된 그래픽과 인터페이스를 제공하고 데이터 보안성의 문제와 동적으로 변하는 자료의 시각적 표현을 구현하였다.

지리정보시스템은 지리적으로 관련된 정보를 효율적으로 저장, 변경, 관리 및 분석을 위한 시스템으로서 하드웨어, 소프트웨어, 지리 데이터 등으로 구성되어 있다. 지리정보시스템은 일반적인 데이터베이스의 연산과 공간정보를 이용한 분석 기능을 통합한 시스템으로서 응용 범위 또한 매우 다양하다. 이 논문에서는 지리정보시스템의 2차원 및 3차원 질의 처리를 위한 2차원 및 3차원 공간 질의어, 그 질의처리 및 최적화에 대해 보인다.

Geography as a field of learning had its beginnings among the scholars of ancient Greece. The emergence of modern Geography was much due to the collection and classification of information about overseas areas. Today, world regional geography, which may be called area studies in other social sciences, is regarded as an introductory geography course in many American universities. World regional geography, however, has been much neglected by Korean geographers. Many factors have made Korean geographers not concentrate their efforts to area studies. The exterior factors include the great expenses for the area studies' fieldworks, and the many geographers' involvement in the writing of geography textbooks and atlases for school students. The interior factors include all the ethno-centric, mysterious, and authoritarian perspectives a large number of Korean geographers strongly stick to.

지리정보시스템에 대한 응용분야가 확대되면서 지리정보시스템의 기반이 되는 데이터베이스의 성능에 대한 정확한 평가가 중요하게 인식된다. 이때 지리정보시스템의 기반이 되는 데이터베이스는 일반적인 데이터베이스와는 달리 공간 질의와 비공간 질의가 동시에 처리될 수 있어야 하므로 이를 위한 효율적인 색인 구성이 요구되며 이에 대한 성능의 명가가 특별히 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 주기억 데이터베이스 기반의 지리정보시스템에 적합하도록 비공간 색인과 공간 색인을 별도로 두는 이중 색인 구성을 제안하고 실제 색인이 지리정보시스템에 적용되었을 때 그에 이 시스템에 대한 성능을 평가하였다. 실험을 통친 색인에 따른 데이터베이스의 성능비교도 함께 측정하였다. 지리정보시스템을 위한 주기억 데이터베이스에 T-tree와 MR-tree가 비공간 및 공간색인을 위해 적용되었을 때 데이터가 증가하여도 질의에 대한 속도가 거의 변화가 없는 우수한 성능을 보여주는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

국가GIS사업 및 관련사업을 통해 다양한 지리정보가 생산되었으며, 다양한 분야의 사용자에 의해 구축 활용되는 지리정보의 특성에 따라 전국에 분포되어 관리되고 있다. 이러한 지리정보가 사장되지 않고 목적에 맞게 효율적으로 활용되기 위해서는 다양한 콘텐츠 확보가 이기종간 공동활용이 선행될 필요가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 서로 다른 시스템 환경에서 지리정보를 연계하여 활용할 수 있도록 카탈로그 모듈, 브로커 모듈, 맵브라우저 모듈, 지리정보등록 모듈 등을 구현하고 Informix, Oracle, GMS, ZEUS 등 여러 가지 조합이 도출될 수 있는 시스템을 대상으로 검증실험을 하였다. 본 연구에서 도출된 모듈을 적용하여 데이터 연계의 제약조건인 DMBS, 공간DBMS 영향을 최소화함으로써 지리정보공유 활성화에 기여할 수 있다.

Han-Ki Choi($1803{\sim}1877$), who was a scholar in Joseon dynasty, understood geography into a synthetic category of chorography, cartography, earth science and fengshui. He focused on chorography and map as a leading position in geography. The purpose of the research of Han-Ki Choi was to examine the way of Heaven, and then to make clear the way of Humanity. The identity of the geography for Han-Ki Choi was a practical science that useful for the ruling over the country and the welfare of people. He emphasized the nature of relationship with humans in geography. The system of Han-Ki's Chi-hak came from the basis of a geography, on the contrary, his geographical works were accomplished on the ground of the Chi-science. The chorography, Chi-hak of the earth and the earth science were composed into systematic organization for achieving the goal of the Chi-geography.

This paper attempts to analyze the changes of the contents in foreign area research carried out by Korean geographers, and discuss the task of the new regional geography in a global-local context. As compared with domestic area research, only a scant of foreign area research has been carried out. In the 1990's, the research interests are paid to how an open economy affects the regional economy, especialy the production technique, division of labor, industrial mix, market strategy, industrial location and organization, and so on. Unfortunately, however, the boundaries between economic geography and regional economy are gradully disappearing.

This study is to standardize framework data model in facility area. This study focuses on standization of application oriented data model in facility management and other facility applications. In order to outline the framework data model in facility area, building and cultural sub-themes which have been proposed in a previously conducted research have initially been considered. Also various international and domestic standards in framework data for facility area have been analyzed to identify appropriate feature classes and types. In order to avoid future conflicts, many facilities experts from various facility areas including facility database and facility manarement have provided their inputs in this study based on their viewpoints and prospects. As a results of this study, we are developed to features and data model or framework data in facility area.

Geography textbooks and atlases are typical printed materials broadly used in the classroom and the public education as certified materials. The students' atlas, as supplementary materials, is useful in teaching and learning geography in the classroom. This study examines and evaluates the supplementary role of the students' atlas in the institutional and pedagogical perspectives. The textbook and the atlas were written by different writers and publishers based on the interpretation of the geography curriculum, the pedagogical beliefs and interests. The textbook is submitted to be certificated by Ministry of Education. Then the textbook and the atlas which is passed in the certification process can be distributed to schools to use in the classroom. Most maps and materials are supplied in the textbook and the atlas variously depended on the authors' interpretation of geography curriculum, which are designed complementally. But, that maps and materials of respective book of even different author are similar and duplicated. Sometimes maps and materials of textbook and atlas are independent, not mutual complement. It needed that geography textbook and student's atlas take a efficient role supplementarily in these certification system of textbook.

Geographic Information System(GIS) deal with data which can potentially be useful for a wida range of applications. However, the information needs of each application usually vary, specially in resolution, detail level, and representation style, as defined in the modeling phase of the geographic database design. To be able to deal with such diverse needs, the GIS must after features that allow multiple representations for each geographic entity of phenomenon. This paper addresses the problem of formal definition of the objects and their relationships on geographical information systems. The geographical data is divided in two main classes: geo-objects and geo-fields, which describe discrete and continuous representations of spatial reality. I will study the classes and the roles of relationships over geo-fields, geo-objects and nongeo-objects. Therefore, this paper will contribute the efficient design of geographical class hierarchy schema by means of formalizing attribute-domains of classes.
