Tremor is a rhythmic and involuntary muscular contraction characterized by oscillations of body parts. Tremor often accompanies neurological disorders associated with aging. Although the disorder is not life-threatening, it can be responsible for functional disability and interpersonal relationship problems. We have recently examined a number of tremor-patients. one of them was improved significantly through the herbal medicine (Yeokgansan-gamibang) and acupuncture, so we report it for the better treatment.

In order to prove the effectiveness for anticonvulsion and analgesic of Ukgansan, Ukgansan added Jinphi Banha and Ukgansan added Chunma by experiment, experimental animals(mouse) are injected with strychnine, picrotoxin and caffeine to cause convulsion and ovserved the consumed time from convulsion to death. Comparing data with control group and observation data for frequency of writhing syndrome caused by acetic acid and phenylquinone show the results as follows : 1. Anticonvulsion effect on the convulsion induced by strychnine it was significantly effective in all sample groups. 2. Anticonvulsion effect on the convulsion induced by picrotoxin it was significantly effective in sample A and B. 3. Anticonvulsion effect on the convulsion induced by caffeine it was not recognized in all sample groups. 4. Analgesic effect on the pain induced by acetic acid it was significantly effect in sample A and C. 5. Analgesic effect on the pain induced by phenylquinone it was significantly effective in sample A and C. The results show that Ukgansan can be an effectual cure on anticonvulsion and analgrsic, Ukgansan added Jinphi·Banha on anticonvulsion, and Ukgansan added Chunma on analgesic.

This case report presents a 31-year-old male intellectual disability patient with problem behavior such as food refusal and temper tantrums. He was treated with the Korean traditional herbal medicine (Yokukan-san-gami) continuously for 56 days. The effects of the treatment were measured by the frequency of his problem behavior and the score of the Korean version of Aberrant Behavior Checklist (ABC). After treatment, his challenging behavior became reduced, and his ABC score had been decreased by 24.6%. The findings from this case suggest that the Korean traditional herbal medicine (Yokukan-san) could be effective for challenging behavior in patients with intellectual disabilities.

Objectives : This study was performed to report two cases of improved hemifacial spasm by herbal remedy and moxa-treatment. Methods : This study calendered the improvements of symptoms of two patients with hemifacial spasm who visited the author's clinic. Ukgansangamibang(抑肝散加味方) and moxa-treatment on chung-wan(CV12) were prescribed to the patients concerned due to their antipathy against acupuncture treatment. Results : Significant improvements were observered from both patients not only for hemifacial spasm but neuropsychosis-related symptoms Conclusion : The study shows remarkable results of the efficacy of herb remedy and moxa-treatment, for the treatment of hemifacial spasm , however the cases investigated in this study were only two(2). Therefore, more studies should be followed to support the efficacy of Oriental Medicine for the treatment of hemifacial spasm.

■ Objectives This case study is to report the two cases of Ukgansan-gami on sleep-related behavior disorder after stroke. ■ Methods Two patients who had sleep-related behavior disorder after stroke were treated by Ukgansan-gami about a month. We evaluated these patients with the frequency and severity of symptoms. ■ Results During treatment period, decreases in both frequency and severity of symptoms were observed in two cases. ■ Conclusion Two patients who were suffered from sleep-related behavior disorder due to sequelae of stroke showed significant improvement of their symptom after taking Ukgansan-gami.

Introduction: In this case report, we describe the clinical effectiveness of Yigan-san-gami in improving symptoms in a patient with worsening Alzheimer's dementia after COVID-19 infection. Case presentation: Symptoms of dementia worsened in a patient with Alzheimer's disease after COVID-19 infection. Western medicines were added following neurological consultation. However, there was no medicinal effect. The patient was treated with Korean medicine (Yigan-san-gami) three times a day. We used daily charts, the Korean Mini-Mental State Examination-2 (K-MMSE-2), Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR), and Short Version Geriatric Depression Scale (SGDS) to assess the patient's symptoms. Cognitive decline and behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) improved following the treatment with Yigan-san-gami. Conclusion: The results suggest that Yigan-san-gami may be effective in improving symptoms of Alzheimer's disease that worsen after COVID-19 infection.
