Real-Time Classification, Visualization, and QoS Control of Elephant Flows in SDN (SDN에서 엘리펀트 플로우의 실시간 분류, 시각화 및 QoS 제어)

  • Long-lived flowed termed as elephant flows in data center networks have a tendency to consume a lot of bandwidth, leaving delay-sensitive short-lived flows referred to as mice flows choked behind them. This results in non-trivial delays for mice flows, eventually degrading application performance running on the network. Therefore, a datacenter network should be able to classify, detect, and visualize elephant flows as well as provide QoS guarantees in real-time. In this paper we aim to focus on: 1) a proposed framework for real-time detection and visualization of elephant flows in SDN using sFlow. This allows to examine elephant flows traversing a switch by double-clicking the switch node in the topology visualization UI; 2) an approach to guarantee QoS that is defined and administered by a SDN controller and specifications offered by OpenFlow. In the scope of this paper, we will focus on the use of rate-limiting (traffic-shaping) classification technique within an SDN network.

Analytic study on Rhizome by Gilles Deleuze : Focusing on the Film (들뢰즈의 리좀 모델 분석 : 영화 <엘리펀트>를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze and illustrate 'Rhizome', a postmodern speculation system based on de-subjectivity and decentralization, presented by Gilles Deleuze. He borrowed the word rhizome, an originally botanical term meaning a horizontal stem under the surface of the earth, to counteract the dominating system grounded on binary, root-tree structure. The study then criticizes the early movements of de-subjectivity with molecular-biological and evolutionary evidences, and proves that these evidences can only be characterized by chance and nomadism, which are the key elements that constitute Rhizome. As a practical example of Rhizome, the study analyzes the film by Gus Van Sant, and demonstrates that both his various cinematic experiments and the result bear the same characteristics as Rhizome.

Cinematic Representation based on Triple Mimesis of Paul Ricoeur (폴 리쾨르의 미메시스 이론으로 본 영화적 재현방식 고찰)

  • Film was invented by human's desire to copy the real world, starting in the late 19th century. Since the birth of cinema, It was given mission to replay of the real world. On the other hand, cinema was regarded as a fictitious art form. Although the invention of film brought about experience of replaying of the real world it has been reproduced reality with creative story. And it also has been represent reality with sense of reality. Cinema's way of reproduction implied conflicting concept of mimesis. Triple Mimesis of Paul Ricoeur was an idea expanded into an analytical concept from that simple concept of mimesis. The purpose of this study was to examine the prefiguration of shown behavior in Columbine High School massacre based on Triple Mimesis of Paul Ricoeur. It also was to examine a form of representation on cinema which is 'Elephant' and studied how the form of representation on Elephant could interpret by audience. It could be define the relationship between reality and reproduction through this esthetic study. This paper attempted to build the method communication between the originator and audience with a whole analytic process of time and story on the cinematic representation.
