The electrical properties of Al/TiN/Ti contact are investigated at submicron contacts. The contact resistance and contact leakage current are dependent on metallization, surface dopant concentration, semiconductor surface treatment and contact plug ion implantation. In this paper, the contact resistance and contact leakage current are studied according to surface dopant concentration, semiconductor surface treatment and contact plug ion implantation at 0.8 micron contact. The contact resistance and contact leakage current increases with increasing substrate ion concentration. HF cleaning represents high contact resistance but low contact leakage current while CDE cleaning represents low contact resistance but high contact leakage current. Contact plug ion implantation decreases contact resistance but increases contact leakage current. Specially, RTA represents good electrical properties.

This paper presents the study on the contact stress analysis of a pair of mating spur gears during rotation. Contact stress analysis is performed between two spur gear teeth at different contact positions during rotation. An example is presented to investigate the variation of contact stress on a pair of mating gears with contact positions. The variation of contact stress during rotation is compared with the contact stress at lowest point of single tooth contact(LPSTC) and AGMA Equation for contact stress. The results show that contact stress varies along the contact position and gets maximum values in the beginning and end of the contact. In this study, the gear design considering the contact stress on a pair of mating gears is more severe than that of AGMA standard.
The results of the electrical contact conductivity of multi-contact spots accounting the surface roughness and the non-conductive films of different origins such as air, water, cutting oil, and machining oil are presented. The array of metal spheres compressed between two flat plates has been used for simulation of the contact behavior of multiple contact of solids, under normal loading. Measurement of electrical contact resistance has been made using the equipment providing the adequate accuracy in the range of micro Ohms. The data on electrical contact resistance have been compared with theoretical predictions using the multiple contact model of constriction resistance. The effect of single spot number and array on conductivity of contact has been evaluated. The results of the experiments show that the contact resistance are closely related to the number of loading cycles, form of surface roughness, and presence of non-conductive films that reduce the size of the real electrical contact spots.
The purpose of this study was to provide preliminary data for competitive dominance in an institutional foodservice environment. Data were collected from 85 experts and practitioners on customer-oriented service contact elements and contact fields in the foodservice industry. PASW Statistics ver.18 and MS Excel were used for data analysis. From the pilot study, 67 service contact-elements were derived. Contribution rate analysis and frequency analysis in each contact field were performed in order to categorize four factors, including environment-oriented contact, product-oriented contact, service-oriented contact, and image-oriented contact fields. Thirty three contact elements were derived, and environment-oriented contact consisted of eight contact-elements (cleanliness of restaurant/kitchen, etc.), product-oriented contact consisted of twelve contact-elements (food taste, etc.), service-oriented contact consisted of seven contact-elements (service quality, etc.), and image-oriented contact consisted of six contact-elements (image/reputation, etc.). The results of study will be useful to develop an effective marketing program for competitive dominance in an competitive foodservice industry environment.
This paper describes a design method for the corner radius of a contacting body using the theoretical approach of contact mechanics. A complete contact, as in the case of a sharp-cornered punch, produces singular contact traction: whereas, in an incomplete contact, the singular contact traction disappears because of the rounded corners, and the contact edges are within the rounded regions. The design method aims to determine the conditions of the contact force as well as the material properties in an incomplete contact. The incomplete contact changes into the complete contact again when the contact edges exceed the rounded regions owing to either an increased contact force or the compliance of the materials. The contact length of a rounded punch is used as a parameter to derive the required conditions. As a result, a design formula is obtained, which provides a minimum allowable radius when the materials, normal contact force, and the length of a flat region of the punch are predetermined. This work consists of two parts: Part I includes a theoretical background, design method, and formula, and Part II describes the actual process with the investigation of design parameters.
The numerical techniques are presented to solve the static and dynamic contact problems of deformable bodies having large rotations of the contact surfaces. The contact conditions on the possible contact surfaces are enforced by using the contact error vector, and an iterative scheme similar to augmented Lagrange multiplier method is employed to reduce the contact error vector monotonically. For dynamic contact problems using implicit time integration, a contact error vector is also defined by combining the displacement, velocity, and acceleration on the contact surface. The suggested iterative technique is implemented to ABAQUS by using the UEL subroutine UEL. In this work, after the computing procedures to solve the frictional contact problems are explained, the numerical examples are presented to compare the present solutions with those obtained by ABAQUS.
The purpose of this study is to optimize parameters of a contact model to obtain similar ground contact force of human walking. Dynamic walking simulation considering ground contact is performed to determine load specifications when developing walking assist robots. Large contact forces that are not observed in actual experimental data occur during the simulation at the initial contact (e.g., heel contact). The large contact force generates unrealistic large joint torques. A lower exoskeleton robot with no ankles is developed with the Matlab simscape and the nonlinear hyper volumetric contact model is applied. Parameters of the nonlinear hyper volumetric model were optimized using actual walking contact force data. As a result of optimization, it was possible to obtain a contact force pattern similar to actual walking by removing the large contact force generated during initial contact.
This paper focuses on the conformal contact problem. A typical example of conformal contact is the contact between a pin and hole. In particular, this paper focuses on the condition for assuming a contact stress field to be a Hertzian pressure profile by using well-known classical solutions associated with Hertzian contact. Persson first developed the conformal contact analysis method around half a century ago, but there have been no significant improvements since then. The present research also adopted this method, but developed new solutions from the viewpoint of application to structural design. The analysis began with a comparison between Persson°Øs conformal contact stress and the Hertzian stress fields. The next step was to check the differences in the normalized stress values of both. This study used the tolerance for the difference in the peak stresses of Persson°Øs solution and the Hertz solution to validate the Hertzian assumption. This gave the range for the difference in radii of the pin and hole when the contact force and mechanical properties of the material are specified. The results showed that, at a tolerance of 5%, the Hertzian assumption is valid if half of the contact angle is less than 35°ý. In addition, the Hertzian assumption holds even for a relatively long contact length, in contrast to the general incomplete contact problem. This paper discusses these results along with other aspects of the application to the design.
The electrical properties of Al/TiN/Ti contact according to post anneal ins conditions are investigated at submicron contacts. $N^+$ contact resistance increases with increasing alloy temperature while $P^+$ contact resistance slightly decreases. The contact tentage current increases wi th increasing alloy temperature for both $N^+$ and $P^+$ contacts. The contact resistance and leakage current of $N^+$ contact increases with increasing alloy tide. $P^+$ contact resistance decreases with increasing alloy time but $P^+$ contact tentage current increases. The contact resistance and contact leakage current increases with increasing alloy cycles for both $N^+$ and $P^+$ contacts.
Fatigue crack in most rails take place by rolling contact between wheel and rail in railway industry. Therefore, it is critical to understand the rolling contact phenomena, especially for the three-dimensional situation. In this paper the steady-state rolling contact problem of KTX wheel and rail (UIC60) has been studied with three-dimensional finite element analysis. The variation of contact pressure and contact stresses on rolling contact surface were obtained using the finite element method. The three-dimensional distribution of contact stresses on the contact surface are investigated. Results show that the distribution of shear stress and contact stress (von Mises) on the contact surface varies rapidly as a result of the variation of stick-slip region. The contact stress at the leading edge is greater than at the trailing edge because of stick and slip phenomena.
