Synthesis of Sodium ${\alpha}$-Sulfo Fatty Acid Allyl Ester Oligomer and Didpersion Stability of Pigments in Aqueous Solution ((${\alpha}$-술폰 지방산 알릴에스테르 올리고머의 합성 및 안료 분산성)

  • Allylaliphatic carboxylate oligomers were prepared from polymerization giving allyl aliphatic carboxylates in the presence of potassium persulfate in methanol and the ${\alpha}-sulfonation$ of these allyl aliphatic carboxylates oligomers were carried by direct addition of dry sulfur trioxide. The dispersing performance of oligomer type anionic surfactants and SDS in the aqueous suspension of $Fe_{2}O_{3}$ and $Tio_{2}$ particles were evaluated by particle size distribution and ${\zeta}-potential$ measurement. As results, the particles of $Fe_{2}O_{3}$ and $Tio_{2}$ were flocculated by addition of small amount of oligomer type anionic surfactants and SDS, then the flocks redispersed by more addition oligomer type anionic surfactants and SDS. The dispersion and flocculation were observed in lower concentration range of oligomer type anionic surfactants than SDS.

  • The purpose of this study is to characterize the photo-catalytic efficiency of $TiO_2$ nanotube with respect to the distribution of anatase phase which can be changed by the annealing temperature of $TiO_2$ nanotube. $TiO_2$ nanotube was fabricated by the anodization method in the 0.5 wt% HF electrolyte. And then the $TiO_2$ nanotube was annealed at temperatures ranging from $380^{\circ}C$ to $780^{\circ}C$ in dry oxygen ambient for 2 h. For the photo-catalytic water-splitting tests, the photocurrent density was measured as a function of applied potential with a potentiostat using a Ag/AgCl reference, Pt counter electrode, and 1 M KOH electrolyte under illumination of UV by a Xe arc lamp of 1 KW. According to the UV photo-catalytic water-splitting tests, the nanotube annealed at $560^{\circ}C$ was found to show the highest photocurrent density.

Preparation and Electrical Properties of $(Ba_{0.5}, Sr_{0.5})Tio_3$Thin Films by RF Magnetron Sputtering (RF Magnetron Sputtering에 의한 $(Ba_{0.5}, Sr_{0.5})Tio_3$박막의 제조와 전기적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • $(Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5)/TiO_3$(BST) thin films were prepared for the application of 256 Mb DRAM by RF magnetron sputtering. The crystallinity of BST thin films increased with increasing deposition tempera lure. The composition of thin films was $(Ba_{0.48}Sr_{0.48)/TiO_{2.93}$ Pt/Ti barrier layer suppressed the diffusion of Si into BST layer. The films showed a dielectric constant of 320 and a dissipation factor of 0.022 at 100 kHz. the change of capacitance of the films with applied voltage was small, showing paraelectric property. The charge storage density and leakage current density were 40fC/$\mu \textrm{m}^{2}$ and 0.8$\mu A/\textrm{cm}^2$, respectively at a field of 0.15 MV/cm. The BST films obtained by RF magnetron sputtering appeared to be potential thin film capacitors for 256 Mb DRAM application.

  • The increase in the resistance of $BaTio_{3}$ with addition of Ca is attributed to the formation ofthe acceptor impurity by $CaCa^{2+}$" which substitutes Ti4+. However, some authors suggested that $Ca^{2+}$ can not substitute $Ti^{4+}$ because of its larger ionic radius. In this work, the existence of acceptor by Ca hasbeen studied through the high temperature equilibrium electrical conductivity of $BaTiO_{3}$ codoped with Caand Nb, where Ba/(Ti+Ca+Nb) was kept equal to unity. It was measured at $1000^{\circ}C$, and the oxygenpartial pressure was controlled between $10^{-15}$ ~ 1 atm. Changing the amount of added Ca and Nbresulted in the compensation effect between donor and acceptor, i.e., Nb was compensated by the acceptor.And through the defect chemical interpretation of the measured data, it was concluded that Ti canbe substitued with Ca. The existence of such acceptor was reaffirmated by ICTS(Isotherma1 CapacitanceTransient Spectroscopy) measurements.oscopy) measurements.

  • The planarized $SiO_2$ particles were prepared by two-step reduction method of making much smaller particles, micron-sized ones, to improve spreadability, adherence, and smoothness. Various pigments known as flaky extender usually have terrace layers on their surfaces, but $SiO_2$ particles in this study exhibit a smooth surface structure. These single $SiO_2$ particles were used as core particles to prepare the composite particles coated with ultra fine $TiO_2$ particles by a homogeneous precipitation method. The thickness and the morphology of the deposited $TiO_2$ layers could be modified by adjusting the reactant concentrations, the reaction time and the temperature. The characteristics of $SiO_2/TiO_2$ composite in the field of color cosmetics are to give an UV-cut effect and to enhance the chroma of human skin color, one of optical properties.
