Manufacturing of mesoporous TiO2 film for dye-sensitized solar cell (염료감응형 태양전지용 나노다공질 TiO$_2$ 전극막의 제조)

  • The mesoporous TiO2 film for the dye-sensitized solar cell was prepared by the spin coating using nano particle $TiO_2$ slurry. In order to obtain the good dispersion of nano size $TiO_2$ particles in slurry, the pH of solvent, the sort and quantity of solvent additive and the quantity of surfactant were adjusted. The experimental range of pH was $2\;{\sim}\;4$. The basic solvent for slurry was dilute $HNO_3$ and the solvent additives were ethylene glycol, propylene glycol and butylene glycol. The degree of particle dispersion was indirectly estimated by the viscosity of slurry and the microstructure after sintering. As results, the lower the pH of solvent was the lower the viscosity of the slurry became. The addition of ethylene glycol and propylene glycol to dilute $HNO_3$ brought about the lowering of viscosity and the enhancement of stability in slurry. The addition of surfactant lowered the viscosity of slurry. It was possible to obtain the homogeneous and uniformly dispersed mesoporous TiO2 film using the dilute HNO3 solvent of pH 2 with the addition of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol and neutral surfactant.

Effect of $Ga_2O_3$ and $GeO_2$ Additives on Sintering of Magnesia (Magnesia 소결에 미치는 $Ga_2O_3$$GeO_2$ 첨가의 경향)

  • This experiment has been carried out for the purpose of investigating the effect of $Ga_2O_3$ and $GeO_2$ additivies on sintering of magnesium oxide over the temperature range of 130$0^{\circ}C$~150$0^{\circ}C$. The effect of calcining temperature on the bulk densities of fired compacts prepared from this material was observed MgO powder has been obtained by calcining extra reagent grade magnesium carbonate(basic fired) at 90$0^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes $Ga_2O_3$and GeO2 were added in the ratio of 1, 2, and 3 wt% to MgO and mixed with calcined MgO. The specimens were prepared by compression with pressure of $700kg/cm^2$ than fired at 130$0^{\circ}C$~150$0^{\circ}C$ for 0-5hrs. Sintering behaviour and microstructure of the fired specimens were examined. The optimum calcination temperature of magnesium carbonate was 90$0^{\circ}C$. Densification rates obeyed the equation D=K in t+c. Theoretical density in the case of addition of $Ga_2O_3$ was 23.1 kcal/mole in the case of the additive $GeO_2$ was 14.176kcal/mole. This low value would appear to support a machanism of grain boundatry diffusion The range of average grain size in the case of addition of $Ga_2O_3$ and $GeO_2$ was 21$\mu\textrm{m}$-31$\mu\textrm{m}$.

  • Reaction-bonded silicon nitrides containing rare-earth oxide sintering additives were densified by gas pressure sintering. The sintering behavior, microstructure and mechanical properties of the resultant specimens were analyzed. For that purpose, $Lu_2O_3-SiO_2$ (US), $La_2O_3$-MgO (AM) and $Y_2O_3-Al_2O_3$ (YA) additive systems were selected. Among the tested compositions, densification of silicon nitride occurred at the lowest temperature when using the $La_2O_3$-MgO system. Since the $Lu_2O_3-SiO_2$ system has the highest melting temperature, full densification could not be achieved after sintering at $1950^{\circ}C$. However, the system had a reasonably high bending strength of 527 MPa at $1200^{\circ}C$ in air and a high fracture toughness of 9.2 $MPa{\cdot}m^{1/2}$. The $Y_2O_3-Al_2O_3$ system had the highest room temperature bending strength of 1.2 GPa.

  • Because the plasma display panel has used red, green and blue(RGB) phosphors, it has suffer from two intrinsic problems; 1) the cell defect due to the lack of binding force between phosphor particles and 2) mis-discharge because of difference of electrical characteristics among RGB phosphors. In order to control the mechanical and electrical properties of RGB phosphors, frit with $ZnOB_2O_3-SiO_2-Al_2O_3$ system was added to RGB phosphor as sintering additive. The mechanical properties were increased by the amount of frit. The amount of frit under 5 wt% rarely affected dielectric constant. However, there was the limit of amount because of decreasing optical properties seriously; over 3 wt% in red, over 10 wt% in green and blue.

  • The effect of sintering temperature, sintering time and forming pressure on microwave dielectric properties of (Zr1-xSnx)TiO4 ceramics containing 1.0wt% B2O3, 0.3 wt% La2O3 and 1.0wt% NiTa2O6 was investigated using the response surface methodology. The optimum values of processing variables were determined based on the reproducibility. The optimum values of the dielectric constant of >35. Q.f0 of >55000 and $\tau$f=$\pm$5 ppm/$^{\circ}C$ could be obtained when the sample was pressed at 500~600kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and sintered at 1500~155$0^{\circ}C$ for 2~3 hrs.

  • The effects of $V_2O_5$ addition as an additive on the densification, the microstructure and the magnetic properties of Mn-Zn ferrites were studied. The maximum density was observed at 0.1 wt% $V_2O_5$ content and it was recognized that a small content of $V_2O_5$ prohibited the discontinuous grain growth. The initial permeability showed maximum at 0.1 wt% $V_2O_5$ content and the power loss minimum at 0.03 wt% $V_2O_5$ content. It was found that a small content of $V_2O_5$ went into solid solution in the Mn-Zn ferrites, but above that extent $V_2O_5$ formed a second phase to be segregated at the grain boundaries.

  • The additive of low temperature sintering in Mn-doped PMN-PZT known as high piezoelectric materials was studied in this experiment. B$_2$O$_3$ was used for the additive of low temperature sintering. The effects of sintering temperature in dielectric, and piezoelectric properties were investigated with the amounts of B$_2$O$_3$. Sintered density was increased in comparison with no addition and under 2wt% B$_2$O$_3$ and lower sintering temperature than 100$0^{\circ}C$. Therefore, in the low sintering temperature, the densification was improved by the addition of the B$_2$O$_3$. However, the sintering density was lower than that of the main composition in the case of the sintered at over 10$50^{\circ}C$. Dielectric constant with the addition of B$_2$O$_3$ was evaluated. The dielectric constant was 1000 2 wt% of B$_2$O$_3$ and sintered at 100$0^{\circ}C$. Under 2wt% of B$_2$O$_3$, the electromechanical coupling factor and the piezoelectric constant were not so much decreased. The electromechanical coupling factor and the piezoelectric constant were 50% and 300(${\times}$10$^{-12}$ C/N) respectively. The mechanical quality factor was increased with B$_2$O$_3$. The mechanical quality factor was 1700 at 0.5wt% B$_2$O$_3$ and sintered at 110$0^{\circ}C$. Dielectric loss was less than 0.5% regardless of the amount of B$_2$O$_3$.

  • The microstructure and conduction characteristics of ZnO varistor fabricated in the range of 0.0 ~ 4.0mol% $Y_20_3$ were investigated. With increasing$Y_20_3$ content, distribution of spinel phase decreased, whereas Y-rich phase segregated to the nodal point increased, as a result, the average grain size decreased in the range of $20.0 ~ 4.8{\mu}m$. $Y_20_3$ content showing relatively good conduction characteristics was l.Omol%, then nonlinear exponent and leakage current was 55.3, 0.66mA.respectively.

Aerosol Synthesis of Gd2O3:Eu/Bi Nanophosphor for Preparation of Photofunctional Pearl Pigment as Security Material

  • $Gd_2O_3:Eu/Bi$ nanoparticles were synthesized via spray pyrolysis and applied for the preparation of a luminescent pearl pigment as an anti-counterfeiting material. The luminescence properties were optimized by changing the $Eu^{3+}$ and $Bi^{3+}$ concentration. Ethylene glycol was used as an organic additive to prepare the $Gd_2O_3:Eu/Bi$ nanoparticles. The highest emission intensity was achieved when the total dopant content was 10.0 at.% and the mole fraction of Bi was 0.1. The concentration quenching was mainly due to dipole-dipole interactions between the same activators, and the critical distances were 9.0 and $19.6{\AA}$ for $Eu^{3+}$ and $Bi^{3+}$, respectively. The prepared $Gd_2O_3:Eu/Bi$ powder exhibited an average size of approximately 82.5 nm and a narrow size distribution. Finally, the $Gd_2O_3:Eu/Bi$ nanophosphor coated on the surface of the pearl pigment was confirmed to have good red emission under irradiation from a portable ultraviolet light-emitting diode lamp (365 nm).

A Study on the Improvement of Strength in NiO-YSZ Porous Anode Material for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC용 다공성 NiO-YSZ 음극소재의 강도향상에 관한 연구)

  • We controlled the amount of Y$_2$O$_3$additives, 8 mol% and 10 mol%, and the type of carbon pore former, activated carbon and carbon black, to improve the strength of porous NiO-YSZ anode materials for solid oxide fuel ceil. The 3-point flexural strength, porosity and electrical conductivity were evaluated. As a result, the strength of anode materials with the addition of carbon black was markedly improved. The strength of NiO-10 mol%YSZ sintered at relatively higher temperature was higher than that of NiO-8 mol%YSZ materials. The electrical conductivity of NiO-10 mol%YSZ with carbon black was evaluated as much as 10$^2$∼10$^3$S/cm at 700$^{\circ}C$∼1000$^{\circ}C$ in reducing atmosphere.
