YBCO-Ag 복합초전도체의 강도, 파괴인성 및 초전도성질에 관한 연구 (A Study of Strength, Fracture Toughness and Superconducting Properties of YBCO-Ag Composite Superconductors)

  • 은(Ag)의 첨가가$ YBa_{2}$$Cu_{3}$$O_{7-\delta}$ (YBCO) 고온초전도체의 미세조직, 기계적 및 전기적 성질에 미치는 효과를 연구하였다. 소량의 Af(5, 10, 15 vol.%)는 각각 금속분말상태와 질산염인 $AgNO_{3}$초전도체의 강도와 인성값이 Ag의 함량이 증가할수록 높게 나타났으며, 이는 Ag입자에 의해 야기되는 강화기루에 의한 것으로 생각된다. 또한 Ag를 질산염의 분말상태로 첨가하여 만든 YBCO-Ag 복합재료가 금속분말상태로 첨가하여 만들었을 때보다 강도 및 인성값이 더 우수한 것으로 나타났다. $AgNO_{3}$를 첨가한 복합체가 상대적으로 더 우수한 기계적 성질을 가지는 것은 Ag 입자가 더 미세하고 균일하게 분포되었기 때문으로 판단된다. Ag 첨가로 인해 YBCO 복합초전도체의 전류밀도값은 미세하게 증가하는 것으로 관찰되었다.

고온초전도 박막을 이용한 튜너블 이상기의 마이크로파 특성 (Microwave Properties of Tunable Phase Shifter Using High Temperature Superconducting Thin Film)

  • High temperature superconductor, $\YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ (YBCO) and ferroelectric, $\Ba_{0.1}Sr_{0.9}TiO_{3}$ (BST) multilayer thin films were deposited using on MgO(100) substrates pulsed laser deposition. The thin films exhibited only (001) peaks of YBCO and 1357 The HTS thin films demonstrated excellent zero resistance temperature of 92.5 K. We designed and fabricated HTS ferroelectric phase shifter using high frequency system simulator and standard photolithography method, respectively The HTS phase shifter shows a low insertion loss (2.97 dB) and large phase change ($\162^{circ}$) with 40 V do bias at 10 GHz. The HTS phase shifter shows 54 of figure of merit. These results can be applicable to phased anay antenna system for satellite communication services.

  • Complex oxide heterointerfaces have been extensively explored in the past due to the novel phenomenon emerging at such interfaces that differ from their individual bulk counterparts. The integration of a ferromagnetic (FM) material with the superconducting (SC) material leading to proximity effect is one of the commonly studied phenomenon in these heterostructures. In continuation, we have stabilized the FM layer La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 (LCMO) on SC material YBa2Cu3O7-${\delta}$ (YBCO) using pulsed laser deposition technique and explored the structural, magnetic, electrical and magneto-transport properties of this heterostructure. ${\Phi}$-scan measurements confirm the epitaxial nature of LCMO/YBCO heterostructure grown on single crystalline SrTiO3 substrate. The FM transition of LCMO and SC transition of YBCO are observed in the magnetization measurements of the bilayer structure. Through electrical measurements, we understood that the proximity effect leads to lowering of the SC transition of YBCO. The role of interface in the bilayer structure is also realized through electrical transport measurements.

벌크형 고온 초전도 합성 (Fabrication of Bulk High-Tc Superconductor)

  • Oxide YBCO bulk superconductors are manufactured using the melt process. Because seed crystal growth method utilizes a slow-spreading layer-by-layer reaction, a long-term heat treatment is required to manufacture a single-crystal specimen of several cm. In this study, the melt process method was applied to compensate for the shortcomings of the seed crystal growth method. The thickness of the upper and lower pellets of the YBCO bulk was molded to 40 mm, and YBCO superconductor was produced by heat treatment. The measurement results of capture magnetism was in line with the literature. This results in a relationship that the higher the growth of Y211 particle in the YBCO, the higher the superconducting properties. We analyzed the YBCO superconductor, focusing on the Y2BaCuO5 particle distribution.

  • Laser ablation기술에 의해 Pt와 $YBa_Cu_3O_{7-x}$(YBCO)전극위에 epitaxially성장된 BST박막의 조성과 전기적 특성이 연구되었다. RBS분석으로부터 Pt전극 위에 증착된 BST박막의 결정성이 YBCO전극 위에 증착된 것보다도 더 우수하였다. $600^{\circ}C$에서 Pt 전극위에 증착된 BST박막은 100kHz의 주파수에서 유전상수가 320, 유전손실이 0.023이었다. Pt전극위에 증착된 BST박막의 누설전류 밀도가 TBCO전극위에 증착된 것 보다도 더 작았다. 0.15MV/cm의 전기장 하에서 누설전류밀도는 약 0.8 $\mu \; A/ \textrm{cm}^2$이었다.

위성통신용 광대역 고온초전도 배열 안테나에 관한 연구 (Study on Broadband HTS Antenna Array for Satellite Communication)

  • Although $High-T_c $superconducting HTS antennas have high efficiency and high gain, narrow bandwidth due to the high Q is the major limitation for application of satellite communication and mobile communication. Defining bandwidth as the frequency range over which standing wave ratio (SWR) is 2:1 or less, HTS antenna bandwidths are typically less than 1 %. Thus considerable effort has been focused on developing HTS antennas for broadband operation. In this work the HTS antenna array, using the bipin antenna which consisted of two triangle-radiation patches, was designed and fabricated using a ${YBa}_2{Cu}_3{O}_7x (YBCO)$ superconducting thin film on a MgO substrate for broadband operation. Also gold antennas with the same dimension as our HTS antennas were fabricated on the MgO substrate for the comparison. Experimental results for both antennas were reported in terms of radiation patterns, return losses, bandwidths and other various characteristics. The center frequency of HTS antennas was 20.28 GHz and the bandwidth obtained was significant 10 %.

Microstructure and Property Relationship of Laser Ablated YBCO Thin Films from Modified Melt-Textured Grown Targets

  • [ $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$ ] thin films were deposited by laser ablation using modified melt-textured grown targets. As the laser energy density was increased, the films showed an increasing c-axis orientation and an improvement of superconducting properties. However, at 4 $J/cm^2$, the degree of c-axis alignment and $J_c$ of the film were considerably reduced. These were attributed to the enhanced a-axis outgrowths. It was shown that the increased laser energy density resulted in the formation of $Y_2O_3$ inclusions during the c-axis film growth, and that these inclusions nucleated the a-axis outgrowths.

$CeO_2$/$BaTiO_3$이중완충막을 이용한 YBCO 박막 제작 (Fabrication of YBCO Superconducting Film with $CeO_2$/$BaTiO_3$Double Buffer Layer)

  • We have fabricated good quality superconducting YBa$_2$Cu$_3$$O_{7-x}$(YBCO) thin films on Hastelloy(Ni-Cr-Mo alloys) metallic substrates with CeO$_2$and BaTiO$_3$buffer layers in-situ by pulsed laser deposition in a multi-target processing chamber. YBCO film with CeO$_2$single buffer layer shows T$_{c}$ of 71.64 K and the grain size less than 0.1${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. When BaTiO$_3$ is used as a single buffer layer, the grain size of YBCO is observed to be larger than that of YBCO/CeO$_2$by 200 times and the transition temperature of the film is enhanced to be about 84 K. CeO$_2$/BaTiO$_3$double buffer layer has been adopted to enhance the superconducting properties, which results in the enhancement of the critical temperature and the critical current density to be about 85 K and 8.4$\times$10$^4$ A/$\textrm{cm}^2$ at 77 K, respectively mainly due to the enlargement of the grain size of YBCO film.ilm.

YBCO Coated Conductor를 위한 texture된 금속 기판위의 epitaxial $Y_2O_3$ 완충층 증착 조건에 관한 연구 (Study on deposition condition of epitaxial $Y_2O_3$ buffer layer deposited on textured metal substrates for $YBa_2Cu_3O_7$ coated conductors)

  • 2세대 초전도 선재로 알려져 있는 $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$ coated conductor는 금속모재/완충층/초전도층/보호층의 구조를 가진다. 2개 이상의 산화물 다층 박막으로 이루어진 완충층은 금속기판의 집합조직을 초전도층까지 전달하는 역할, 금속기판의 금속이 초전도층으로 확산되어 초전도층의 전기적 특성을 열화시키는 것을 막아주는 확산장벽으로의 역할 등을 수행한다. 1차 완충층은 금속기판의 집합조직을 유지하여야하며, 금속기판의 산화를 방지하면서 증착 되어야 한다. coated conductor 제조를 위한 첫 단계로 Pulsed Laser Deposition법을 이용하여 cube texture된 Ni 기판 위에 $Y_2O_3$ 박막을 증착 하였다. 최적의 증착 조건을 찾기 위해 증착 챔버의 산소 및 $H_2/Ar$ 혼합가스 분압과 기판온도를 변화시키면서 증착 하였다. $Y_2O_3$층의 (100) 집합조직은 기판온도 $600{\sim}700^{\circ}C$와 산소 분압 $0.01{\sim}0.1mTorr$에서 증착된 Y2O3 박막에서 금속기판과 유사한 집합조직을 얻을 수 있었다. 최적의 증착 조건에서 $Y_2O_3$ (222) ${\Phi}-scan$의 full width at half maximum (fwhm)이 $11^{\circ}$이고 (400) ${\omega}-scan$ fwhm은 $6^{\circ}$이었다.

Quench properties of superconducting fault current limiters connected in parallel

  • We investigated the quench properties of superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) connected in parallel. It was carried out as an effort to scale up the current capacity of SFCL toys texts. SFCLs were based on $YBa_2$$Cu_3$$O_{7}$ films coated in-situ with a gold layer and fabricated by patterning the films into 2 mm wide and 42 cm long meander lines by photolithography. Two SFCLS were connected in parallel and tested with simulated AC fault currents. Initially the current was divided unequally into branches of parallel connection due to unequal resistance of the branches. However, once quench started in the SFCLs, the current oscillated between the branches and then was distributed nearly equally between the branches. In other words, the elements quenched simultaneously. The oscillation amplitude decreased as the source voltage was increased: the oscillation was the most prominent near the quench current. The observed oscillation and the consequent simultaneous quench was understood in terms of quench start and development in the SFCLs.
