스크린 프린팅으로 제작된 $Pb(Zr,\;Ti)O_3$ 후막의 제작과 전기적 특성 (Preparation and Electrical Properties of Lead Zirconate Titanate Thick Films Fabricated by Screen-Printing Method)

  • PZT(80/0) powder was prepared by a sol-gel method and PZT thick films were fabricated by the screen-printing method on the alumina substrates. The coating and drying procedure was repeated 4 times. And then the PZT(20/80) precusor solution was spin-coated on the PZT thick films. A concentration of a coating solution was 0.5mol/L and the number of coating was varied from 0 to 6. The porosity decreased and the grain size increased with increasing the number of coatings. The thickness of the PZT-6(6: number of coatings) films was about $60{\mu}m$. The relative dielectric constant increased and the dielectric loss decreased with increasing the number of PZT(20/80) sol coatings. The relative dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the PZT-6 thick film were 275 and 3.5%, respectively. The remanent polarization, coercive field and breakdown strength of the PZT-6 film were $19.8{\mu}C/cm^2$, 13.7kV/cm and 130kV/cm, respectively.

Synthesis of Spherical Carbons Containing Titania and Their Physicochemical and Photochemical Properties

  • In this study, we used activated carbon (AC) and charcoal (CH) as carbon sources with $TiO_2$ powder to prepare spherical carbons containing titania (SCCT) by using phenolic resin (PR) as a bonding agent. The physicochemical characteristics of the SCCT samples were examined by BET, XRD, SEM, EDX, iodine adsorption and compressive strength. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by measuring the removal efficiency of three kinds of organic dyes: methylene blue (MB), methyl orange (MO) and rhodamine B (Rh.B) under a UV/SCCT system. In addition, evaluation of chemical oxygen demand (COD) of piggery waste was done at regular intervals and gave a good idea about the mineralization of wastewater.

폐수 재이용을 위한 무기계 광촉매 담체 연구 (Study of Inorganic Photocatalyst Media for Reused Wastewater)

  • This study focused on effective decomposition methods for low concentrated organic compounds from the reuse of industrial wastewater, and confirmed the possibility through photocatalyst media. Photocatalyst immobilized media was developed to carry on this experiment which confirmed the removal possibility of low concentrated organic compounds. Considering the stability and efficiency of photocatalyst immobilization, inorganic support, hollow bead, and $TiO_2$ nano powder were used. As a result of the removal experiment, the removal efficiencies of acetonitrile, ethanol, IPA(Isopropyl alcohol), methanol were above 75% after 15 minutes while those of acetone, acetaldehyde, urea were 10%, 45%, 20%, respectively after 60 minutes. If further studies were made to increase the surface area of the photocatalyst immobilized media, the efficiency of the removal of low concentrated organic compounds can be improved and this solution can also be used in an actual treatment process.

천연고분자 매트릭스를 사용한 산화티탄 나노입자의 합성 (Preparation of Nano-sized Titanium Oxide Powder Using Natural Polymer Matrix)

  • Nano-sized titanium oxide powders were synthesized by a polymer matrix technique using pulp and Titanium tetraisopropoxide (TTIP) as starting materials. The synthesized powders were characterized by XRD and FE-SEM. The particle size of the powders was controlled by preparation conditions, such as heat treatment temperature and time. After investigating various drying and heat treatment conditions, 50-100 nm sized homogeneous titanium oxide particles were obtained by treating at $600^{\circ}C$ for 1 h. The crystallization and rapid growth of particles was accelerated by increasing heat treatment temperature and time. Anatase phase generated below $600^{\circ}C$ transformed to the rutile phase with increasing heat treatment temperature. Moreover, above $800^{\circ}C$, heat treatment time had a very large influence on particle growth, and changing the heating condition also had a large influence on crystal growth.

Fe-Cr-Al 기 산화물 분산강화 합금의 미세조직에 미치는 분말제조 공정 영향 (Effect of Powder Synthesis Method on the Microstructure of Oxide Dispersion Strengthened Fe-Cr-Al Based Alloys)

  • An optimum route to fabricate oxide dispersion strengthened ferritic superalloy with desired microstructure was investigated. Two methods of high energy ball milling or polymeric additive solution route for developing a uniform dispersion of $Y_2O_3$ particles in Fe-Cr-Al-Ti alloy powders were compared on the basis of the resulting microstructures. Microstructural observation revealed that the crystalline size of Fe decreased with increases in milling time, to values of about 15-20 nm, and that an FeCr alloy phase was formed. SEM and TEM analyses of the alloy powders fabricated by solution route using yttrium nitrate and polyvinyl alcohol showed that the nano-sized Y-oxide particles were well distributed in the Fe based alloy powders. The prepared powders were sintered at 1000 and $1100^{\circ}C$ for 30 min in vacuum. The sintered specimen with heat treatment before spark plasma sintering at $1100^{\circ}C$ showed a more homogeneous microstructure. In the case of sintering at $1100^{\circ}C$, the alloys exhibited densified microstructure and the formation of large reaction phases due to oxidation of Al.

광섬유를 이용한 광촉매 성능 측정 표준화의 이해 (Standard test method for Photocatalytic activity with optical fiber)

  • 최근 일본이 광촉매 관련 제품에서의 소비자 보호를 위한 적절한 표준화 규격 제정에 강한 의욕을 보이며, 자국내 JIS 규격 외에 ISO 규격 (ISO/TC 206 fine ceramics)을 제정하기 위하여 노력하고 있다. 이에 국내에서는 산업보호 및 해외시장에서의 종속성을 벗어나기 위하여 2001년부터 선정된 분야에서의 광촉매표준화 시도가 이루어졌다. 그 중의 하나로 본 논문은 광섬유를 빛 전달 매개체와 광촉매 코팅 지지체로 이용해서 광촉매 졸을 구성하는 광촉매 자체의 유기물 분해능을 결정하는 방법을 규정하는 과정과 제안과 관련된 것이다. 이 규격은 코팅 가능한 졸이나 졸로 만들 수 있는 자외선 감응 광촉매 재료에 적용하며, 차후 가시광 및 태양광 감응 광촉매 활성 측정 및 비교에도 응용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

졸-겔법으로 제조된 복합 알루미나 미분체의 첨가제에 의한 구조적 특성 비교 (A Comparison of Structural Characterization of Composite Alumina Powder Prepared by Sol-Gel Method According to the Promoters)

  • 본 연구는 졸-겔법을 이용하여 복합 알루미나를 제조하였고, 다양한 첨가제의 첨가에 의한 복합 알루미나의 열적 안정성을 고찰하였다. $1,200^{\circ}C$에서 소성시킨 복합 알루미나의 열적 안정성은 사용된 첨가제에 따라서 $Si{\fallingdotseq}La$ > Ti > $Ba{\fallingdotseq}Ce$ > Y > $Zr{\fallingdotseq}Mg$ 순으로 나타났다. 특히 실리카 첨가시 ${\alpha}$-알루미나로의 상전이 온도를 $150^{\circ}C$이상 높여 $1,200^{\circ}C$에서 소성 후에도 ${\gamma}$-형에서 ${\delta}$-형의 알루미나 상을 유지함을 알 수 있었고, 비표면적이 $3m^2/g$${\alpha}$-알루미나에 비해 $71m^2/g$(비표면적) 범위까지 증가됨을 보였다. 이러한 알루미나 입자의 특성변화는 실리카 첨가 알루미나의 경우 고온으로 소성시 Si-O-Al의 결합의 증가로 인하여 알루미나의 상전이를 지연시키는 결과로 나타나고, 란타늄 첨가 알루미나의 경우 $LaAlO_3$ 구조의 존재로 인해 알루미나의 입자간 소결을 지연시킴을 알 수 있었다. 또한 란타늄 첨가시 $1,000^{\circ}C$ 이하에서 소성시킨 경우 란타늄이 알루미나 표면에 $La_2O_3$ 구조로 존재하나 $1,000^{\circ}C$ 이상에서는 $LaAlO_3$의 perovskite 구조로 존재하고, $1,300^{\circ}C$ 이상에서는 $LaAl_{11}O_{18}$의 magneto-plumbite 구조로 존재함을 XRD와 XPS 분석 결과에 의해 확인할 수 있었다.

분극 시간에 따른 압전 페인트 센서의 압전 특성 연구 (Study on Piezoelectric Characteristics of Piezoelectric Paint Sensor According to Poling Time)

  • 본 논문에서는 분극 시간에 따라 압전 페인트 센서의 특성이 어떻게 변하는지 평가하고, 그 결과를 기술하였다. 연구에 사용된 압전 페인트 센서는 유연 압전 재료인 $Pb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-Pb(Zr,Ti)O_2$ (PNN-PZT)와 에폭시 수지를 무게비 1:1로 혼합하여 제작하였다. 센서 시편은 몰드를 사용하여 $40{\times}10{\times}1mm^3$ 크기로 제작하였고, 윗면과 아랫면에 실버 페이스트를 사용하여 전극을 제작하였다. 분극 작업 시 온도는 상온으로, 분극 전계는 4kV/mm 고정한 상태에서 분극 시간을 달리함으로써 분극 조건을 달리하였다. 분극 특성은 충격 망치를 이용하여 충격을 시편에 가했을 때 충격 망치에서 측정되는 힘과 압전 페인트 센서에서 출력되는 전압을 비교하여 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 상온에서 분극 전계가 4kV/mm인 경우, 30분 정도 분극 처리를 한 경우 가장 최적의 분극 조건임을 확인하였다.

Studies on the Production of Artificial Zeolite from Coal Fly Ash and Its Utilization in Agro-Environment

  • 1. Production of the artificial zeolite from coal ash Coal fly ash is mainly composed of several oxides including $SiO_2$ and $Al_2O_3$ derived from inorganic compounds remained after burning. As minor components, $Fe_2O_3$ and oxides of Mg, Ca, P, Ti (trace) are also contained in the ash. These components are presented as glass form resulting from fusion in the process of the combustion of coal. In other word, coal ash may refer to a kind of aluminosilicate glass that is known to easily change to zeolite-like materials by hydrothermal reaction. Lots of hot seawater is disposing near thermal power plants after cooling turbine generator periodically. Using seawater in the hydrothermal reaction caused to produce low price artificial zeolite by reduction of sodium hydroxide consumption, heating energy and water cost. As coal ash were reacted hydrothermally, peaks of quartz and mullite in the ash were weakened and disappeared, and new Na-Pl peaks were appeared strengthily. Si-O-Si bonding of the bituminous coal ash was changed to Si-O-Al (and $Fe^{3+}$) bonding by the reaction. Therefore the produced Na-Pl type zeolite had high CEC of 276.7 $cmol^+{\cdot}kg^{-1}$ and well developed molecular sieve structure with low concentration of heavy metals. 2. Utilization of the artificial zeolite in agro-environment The artificial zeolite(1g) could remove 123.5 mg of zinc, 164.7 mg copper, 184.4 mg cadmium and 350.6 mg lead in the synthetic wastewater. The removability is higher 2.8 times in zinc, 3.3 times in copper, 4.7 times in cadmium and 4.8 times in lead than natural zeolite and charcoal powder. When the heavy metals were treated at the ratio of 150 $kg{\cdot}ha^{-1}$ to the rice plant, various growth inhibition were observed; brownish discoloration and death of leaf sheath, growth inhibition in culm length, number of panicles and grains, grain ripening and rice yield. But these growth inhibition was greatly alleviated by the application of artificial zeolite, therefore, rice yield increased $1.1{\sim}3.2$ times according to the metal kind. In addition, the concentration of heavy metals in the brown rice also lowered by $27{\sim}75%$. Artificial Granular Zeolites (AGZ) was developed for the purification of wastewater. Canon exchange capacity was 126.8 $cmol^+{\cdot}kg^{-1}$. AGZ had Na-Pl peaks mainly with some minor $C_3S$ peaks in X-ray diffractogram. In addition, AGZs had various pore structure that may be adhere the suspended solid and offer microbiological niche to decompose organic pollutants. AGZ could remove ammonium, orthophosphate and heavy metals simultaneously. Mixing ratio of artificial zeolite in AGZs was related positively with removal efficiency of $NH_4\;^+$ and negatively with that of $PO_4\;^{3-}$. Root growth of rice seedling was inhibited severely in the mine wastewater because of strong acidity and high concentration of heavy metals. As AGZ(1 kg) stayed in the wastewater(100L) for 4days, water quality turned into safely for agricultural usage and rice seedlings grew normally.

수종의 방법으로 임프란트 표면 처치후 표면의 형태 및 성분 변화 분석에 관한 연구 (The XPS and SEM Evaluation of Various Technique for Cleansing and Decontamination of The Rough Surface Titanium Implants)

  • Osseointegrated titanium implants have become an integral therapy for the replacement of teeth lost. For dental implant materials, titanium, hydroxyapatite and alumina oxide have been used, which of them, titanium implants are in wide use today. Titanium is known for its high corrosion resistance and biocompatability, because of the high stability of oxide layer mainly consists of $TiO_2$. With the development of peri-implantitis, the implant surface is changed in surface topography and element composition. None of the treatments for cleaning and detoxification of implant surface is efficient to remove surface contamination from contaminated titanium implants to such extent that the original surface elemental composition. In this sights, the purpose of this study was to evaluate rough surface titanium implants by means of scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) with respect to surface appearance and surface elemental composition. Moreover, it was also the aim to get the base for treatments of peri-implantitis. For the SEM and XPS study, rough surface titanium models were fabricated for control group. Six experimental groups were evaluated: 1) long-time room exposure, 2 ) air-powder abrasive cleaning for 1min, 3) burnishing in citric acid(pH1) for 1min, 4) burnishing in citric acid for 3min, 5) burnishing in tetracycline for 1min, 6) burnishing in tetracycline for 3min. All experimental treatments were followed by 1min of rinsing with distilled water. The results were as follows: 1. SEM observations of all experimental groups showed that any changes in surface topography were not detected when compared with control group. (750 X magnification) 2. XPS analysis showed that in all experimental groups, titanium and oxygen were increased and carbon was decreased, when compared with control group. 3. XPS analysis showed that the level of titanium, oxygen and carbon in the experimental group 3(citric acid treatment for 1min, followed by 1min of distilled water irrigation) reached to the level of control group. 4. XPS analysis showed that significant differences were not detected between the experimental group 1 and the other experimental groups except of experimental group 3. The Ti. level of experimental group 2, airpowder abrasive treatment for lmin followed by 1min of saline irrigation, was lower than the Ti. level of tetracycline treated groups, experimental group 5 and 6. From the result of this study, it may be concluded that the 1min of citric acid treatment followed by same time of rinsing with distilled water gave the best results from elemental points of view, and can be used safely to treat peri-implantitis.
