Preparation of CdS-AC/TiO2 Composites Designed for a High Photonic Effect and their Photocatalytic Activity Under Visible Light

  • In this study, CdS combined activated carbon/$TiO_2$ (CdS-AC/$TiO_2$) composites were prepared by a sol-gel method to improve the photocatalytic performance of $TiO_2$. These composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) and UV-vis analysis. The photocatalytic activities were examined by the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible light irradiation. The photodegradation rate of MB under visible light irradiation reached 90.1% in 120 min. The kinetics of MB degradation was plotted alongside the values calculated from the Langmuir-Hinshelwood equation. The 0.2 CAT sample showed the best photocatalytic activity, which might be due to an increase in the photo-absorption effect by activated carbon and the cooperative effect of CdS.

  • In recent years, rapid technological advances in the textile and dyeing industry have yielded benefits to society but have also generated new and significant environmental problems. The treatment alternatives applicable for the removal of color vary, depending upon the type of dye wastewater Advanced oxidation processes are considered to provide more permanent merits. One of these oxidation treatments attracting much attention is photocatalytic oxidation, which uses TiO$_2$ due to its non-toxic, insoluble liquid as well as a highly reactive nature under UV irradiation. This study sets out to demonstrate the effect of photocatalyst dosage, dye concentrations, pH and light intensity on color removal efficiency under aerobic conditions. The results of this study show Rhodamine B(RhB) was not decolorized when a dye solution was exposed only to air or treated by TiO$_2$ only In the presence of both TiO$_2$ and UV light, however, the presence of RhB decreased up to 95 % within 60minutes. The more addition TiO$_2$ and the more diluted dye solution, showed a higher removal rate.

  • Three kinds of organometallic compounds (chromium acetylacetonate, magnesium acetate and vanadyl acetylacetonate) were used as transition metal precursor, titanium n-butoxide and multi-walled carbon nanotube as titanium and carbon precursor to prepare metal oxide-CNT/$TiO^2$ composites. The surface properties and morphology of metal oxide-CNT/$TiO^2$ composites were by Brauer-Emett-Teller (BET) surface area measurement, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis. The photocatalytic activity of prepared metal oxide-CNT/$TiO^2$ composites was determined by the degradation effect of methylene blue in an aqueous solution under irradiation of visible light.

일부 유기인계 농약의 광분해성 (Photodegradation of some Organophosphorous Pesticides)

  • Dichlorvos 및 methidathion에 대한 광분해 실험을 수행하여 속도상수와 분해생성물을 측정하였다. 햇빛을 이용한 광분해 실험은 1998년 9월 2일부터 9월 18일 까지 수행하였으며 두가지 농약이 상당기간 동안 안정함을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 햇빛 아래서는 humic acid의 광관여 효과가 없음을 알 수 있었다. 자외선을 이용한 광분해 실험에서 dichlorvos의 광분해속도상수와 반감기는 각각 0.0208 및 33.3분으로 조사되었고, methidathion의 경우는 각각 0.6189 및 1.0분으로 조사되어 methidathion의 광분해는 4분 이내에 99% 이상의 매우 빠른 분해양상을 보였다. 두가지 농약 모두 3시간 이내에 분해되었고, 따라서 먹는물 정수처리시 농약의 분해가 필요할 때는 자외선을 이용하는 것이 좋을 것으로 생각된다. 또한, dichlorvos 및 methidathion은 자외선을 단독조사 하였을 때 보다 TiO$_2$를 첨가하였을 경우 분해는 다소 빠르게 진행되었다. 광분해에 의한 분해생성물을 확인하고자 GC/MS분석을 한 결과 dichlorvos에서는 분해생성물로 m/z=153의 Ο, Ο-dimethyl phosphate(DMP)를 확인하였다. Methidathion의 경우 분해생성물로 m/z=198 과 m/z=214로 각각 Ο, Ο-dimethyl phosphorothioate(DMTP)와 Ο, Ο-dimethyl phosphorodithioate(DMDTP)를 확인하였다.

졸-겔 방법으로 제조한 TiO2박막 광촉매의 물성 분석과 광화학 반응 (Photochemical Reaction and Characterization of TiO2 Thin Film Photocatalyst Fabricated by Sol-Gel Method)

  • 광촉매 $TiO_2$박막은 titanium (IV) isopropoxide, 에탄올, HCl을 일정한 비율로 졸-겔방법에 의해 제작하였다. SEM에 의한 표면관찰에서는 $500^{\circ}C$에서 5회 반복해서 코팅하여 제작한 것이 우수했다. EDX에 의한 성분비는 spin코팅이 O : Ti의 atom%가 61 : 39로 dip코팅보다 우수했다. 그리고 박막제작의 온도에 따라서 anatase상에서 rutile상으로 결정구조가 변화되어 가는 것을 XRD측정으로 알았다. 제작한 $TiO_2$박막에 UV빔을 조사해서 얻은 TOC의 광분해효율이 1 h 이내에 20~65%를 나타내었고, 그 이후에는 서서히 감소하는 것을 확인했다.

광촉매반응을 이용한 VOCs의 촉매산화 (Catalytic Oxidation of VOCs using Photocatalysis)

  • This study was progressed in photocatalysis of VOCs using $UV/TiO_2$ which was a benign process environmentally. The experiments were peformed to know photodegradation characteristics as crystalline structure of $TiO_2$ which had anatase, rutile and P-25 (anatase : rutile = 70 : 30). The main purpose of this study was to identify photocatalytic characteristics as inlet concentration of reactants, $H_2O$, and residence time. The inlet concentration of VOCs was changed 50, 100 and 200 ppmv, and amount of $H_2O$ was changed 0, 500 and $1000{\;}mg/m^3$, respectively. The deep conversion was increased as the inlet concentration decreased, and the amount of $H_2O$ increased. The deep conversion of benzene had the highest value at $1000{\;}mg/m^3${\;}H_2O$ and 50 ppmv of inlet concentration. The reactivity of reactants was decreased in order benzene > toluene > m-xylene. Also, the photocatalytic deep conversion was increased as residence time increased, because the contact time between reactants and catalyst was increased. In this study, intermediates had not found by GC/MSD analysis. Therefore, the reactants were completely converted to $H_2O{\;}and{\;}CO_2$.

Photo Catalytic Activity of CNT-TiO2 Nano Composite in Degrading Anionic and Cationic Dyes

  • A CNT-$TiO_2$ nano composite was prepared from titanium chloride ($TiCl_4$) via sol-gel process using multi walled carbon nano tube (MWCNT) followed by calcination at $450^{\circ}C$. Spectral analysis revealed that the formed $TiO_2$ resided on the carbon in anatase form. The effect of adsorption was investigated using aqueous solution of methylene blue and procion blue dye. The photochemical reaction of CNT-$TiO_2$ composite in aqueous suspensions was studied under UV illumination in batch process. The reaction was investigated by monitoring the discoloration of the dyes employing UV-Visible spectro-photometeric technique as a function of irradiation time. The catalyst composites were found to be efficient for the photodegradation of the dye.

Ag-Multi walled carbon nanotube-TiO2 복합나노소재 제조 및 광감응성 (Preparation and Photosensitivity of Ag-Multi Walled Carbon Nanotube-TiO2 Nano Composite)

  • 다층벽탄소나노튜브(MWCNT)와 titanium(IV) butoxide(TNB) 그리고 silver nitrate($AgNO_3$)를 이용하여 졸-겔법으로 $MWCNT-TiO_2$ 복합체와 $Ag-MWCNT-TiO_2$ 복합체를 제조하였다. 복합체에서의 Ag의 분산 및 구조를 주사전자현미경(SEM)과 투과전자현미경(FE-TEM)으로 관찰하였다. X선 회절 분석기(XRD)를 이용하여 복합체의 패턴을 보았을 때 anatase 결정구조를 확인할 수 있었다. 에너지 분광 분석기(EDX)로 원소성분을 분석한 결과 주요 원소인 C, Ti, O 그리고 Ag가 확인되었다. $TiO_2$ 입자는 MWCNT에 균일하게 분산되었고, Ag 입자는 튜브 표면에 고정되었다. 또한 UV 조사 시간에 따른 메틸렌블루의 분해를 통하여 광촉매 활성평가를 하였다. $Ag-MWCNT-TiO_2$ 복합체는 $MWCNT-TiO_2$ 복합체보다 높은 광분해능을 보였다. Ag의 높은 전도성이 $MWCNT-TiO_2$ 복합체의 광활성을 향상 시킨다는 결과를 나타냈다.

Ag2Se-Graphene/TiO2 Nanocomposites, Sonochemical Synthesis and Enhanced Photocatalytic Properties Under Visible Light

  • $Ag_2Se$-Graphene/$TiO_2$ composite was synthesized by a facile sonochemical method. The as-prepared products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectrophotometer. During the reaction, both of the reduction of graphene oxide and loading of $Ag_2Se$ and $TiO_2$ particles were achieved. The as-prepared $Ag_2Se$-Graphene/$TiO_2$ composites possessed great adsorptivity of dyes, extended light absorption range, and efficient charge separation properties simultaneously. Hence, in the photodegradation of rhodamine B (Rh.B), a significant enhancement in the reaction rate was observed with $Ag_2Se$-Graphene/$TiO_2$ composites, compared to the pure $TiO_2$. The high activity can be attributed to the synergetic effects of high charge mobility, and red shift in absorption edge of $Ag_2Se$-Graphene/$TiO_2$ composites.

나노 TiO2를 적용한 식품 포장 필름 개발 및 콩나물의 이취 제거 (Development of the Functional Films Coated with Nano-TiO2 Particles for Food Packaging and Removal of Off-flavor from Soybean Sprouts)

  • 나노 $TiO_2$ 코팅 필름은 식품 포장재에서 많이 사용하는 PU와 PVB-cellulose 두 가지 바인더에 나노 콜로이달 $TiO_2$를 각각 3%와 5%의 농도로 혼합제조하여 OPP 필름에 코팅하였다. PVB 바인더로 코팅한 필름이 PU 바인더(3%와 5%)보다 불균일하게 필름에 코팅이 되었다. 그러나 청변현상 방지 실험과 광분해 실험에서는 필름 코팅 상태와 상관없이 선도 유지 효과가 나타났다. MB를 사용한 광분해성 효과 측정 실험에서 나노 $TiO_2$의 광촉매 반응으로 인해 초기 30분부터 MB가 분해되는 것을 확인하였고, 콩나물 포장재 내에서 혐기성 호흡으로 발생하는 이취인 acetaldehyde는 나노 $TiO_2$ 코팅 필름이 대조구에 비해 농도가 감소하는 것을 확인하였다. 따라서 개발된 나노 $TiO_2$ 코팅 필름으로 콩나물의 청변 현상과 이취 제거로 인해 콩나물의 보관 수명을 연장할 수 있었다.
